There is a Costco getting ready to open in Wichita. Is it better than Sam's?

costco is infinitely better than sams unless you're a white trash redneck.  but you live in wichita so it might be better that you just stick with sams, it may have a more homely feel to you.

it's one of those pool and pond things.  sometimes the pond is good enough.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Is it worth driving all the way across town to Costco when there is a Sam's not too far from my house (and another really close to my work)?

Costco is better, but if you don't go then it's not worth it.  I mean if you'll go to Sam's all the time and rarely to Costco because it's a pain in the ass, then you should pick Sam's assuming they have things you want.

Go to both first though before you pick of course.

We go to Sam's because it's like ten minutes away and Costco is like 40 minutes away.  Also, Grandma and Grandpa Bread buy all of the kids/grandkids Sam's memberships whether they want them or not.  They've been doing it since I was in undergrad.

They're very loyal to Sam's.  We didn't have Costco until 2012.  Old people.  :dunno:

agree with bread here.  if you're going to need to stop at sams all the time then it's prob a better choice since it's closer.
but before you decide, you might want to ask yourself who needs to go to a warehouse club all the time?

I feel that generally costco has a superior product at the same price as other places.  Some stuff is clearly cheaper because bulk.

I mean like hey I'd like to make a trip to the bulk store but it's far and incovenient so I'll just go to the regular store I go to because it's closer and I'm not poor and I'll hit up Costco some other time and boom you haven't been to Costco in a year and a half.

Bread, I figured Costco would be too far from Clams. So I wouldn't feel bad. It's like 3 miles from his spot on the plaza and I don't know how he finds the time.  :)

That's the thing.  Unlikely Mrs. Gooch needs the savings, so if it's a chore she just won't go.  Then what the eff are you doing, donating money to Costco that's what.

I know that if Sam's was the closer of the two to old clamsy then he'd be stroking that Sam's dong hard leading the charge to huge savings.  #firstintothebreach #bulkpurchases #slavetomygeography

costco has a lot of stuff that i only buy there because it's either significantly cheaper or other places don't carry equivalent items.  if you pick your shopping times, it doesn't take much longer than going to any other store.

Yup. We only pick a few items there as well. Chicken, vodka, protein bars, and frozen fruit for smoothies. Every thing else we buy at the store or the river market.

like what?

croissants at .50 per, olli salumi, jamon iberico.  there's more in my mind that are like costco only stuff, but i guess they're really more stuff that's a lot cheaper there than elsewhere.

We really only buy bulk items at Sam's like toilet paper and paper towels and sometimes razors because they have the kind Gooch likes. And sometimes they have lamb chops that are pretty tasty (that's because of Gooch's cooking though). Also, edamame!

So, yeah I can't really see going to Costco unless their prices were a lot lower or they had something else that I wanted to buy in bulk that Sam's doesn't have.

I live within a 3 wood of both a Costco and a Sam's.  I've never been to the Sam's, and I've only been to Costco a few times (I don't have bulk needs and I can get my toilet paper delivered to my door for free in 2 hours or less thanks to Prime Now).  The thing about Costco is that it is Wonka's Wonderful World of Consumerism.  You could knock out Christmas shopping for everyone on your list there if you so choose.  It is really a sight to behold.
