there's a guy at our pickup game that will help when the ball is in the post, and when the ball gets kicked out to his man at the wing, instead of trying to recover to challenge the shot, he will act like he is going to take out your legs. He never actually takes out your legs, but it's not cool, at least the first couple of times.
We also have a guy now that dribbles a lot and points at someone to set screens and yells at people to cut but never uses the screens or passes it to someone cutting. He also blames every shot his man makes on someone not calling out a screen. He also reminds everyone to box out after every offensive rebound. He also does this thing where he will start just throwing elbows if he thinks you're fouling.
today:
HEY! WATCH THE ELBOWS!
well, you were practically hugging me.
a couple weeks ago:
HEY! easy with the elbows!
well, you were setting a moving screen.
I mean good grief.
Also, we occasionally get new folks that take things WAAAAAAAY too serious and don't realize that 90% of people playing are cool and don't give a crap for the most part. One time an old-timer gave an "oh crap!" after a pushoff kind of sent him to the floor (could have been a flop, but irrelevant. Newcomer goes "JESUS rough ridin' CHRIST YOU'RE GOING TO CALL A CHARGE IT'S THE rough ridin' YMCA!!!!" Sheesh, you're the one playing to seriously, mister!
