Signed up for my first ever "old man league" basketball. (My definition of old man league is anything after intramurals in college) I'm playing with a bunch of colleagues who are all ex-college athletes. But they played football. No idea if this means they are super good or what. Should be fun  :dunno:

I used to play with Ulla Pomele. He was very, VERY good.
Hmm. Odd definition of good, defender yes(which seems like a funny thing to say in retrospect) but he wasnt that great.

Are you trolling me? I feel like you're trolling me. Are you trying to impress everyone else on this board by pretending you look down on Ulla because you're so much better than him? Because after seeing him drive to the bucket with great ball control possession after possession, then step back and nail a 3 once someone finally defended that, I have no doubt that he's very good no matter the competition.

Also, if you repeatedly fast break and jack 3s after every change of possession, I will do my best to avoid passing you the ball after pulling down yet another defensive rebound.

you sound like a jerk to play with.

Also, I twisted my ankle. I still play, but I'm a little slow and am worried about twisting it worse. :frown:

I hate playing on teams that can't get defensive rebounds. I take off the other way on the shot to cherry pick and then when we can't come up with the ball I have to jog all the way back down the court to play "defense" again. Just get the rebound idiots.  :curse:

genetically, we're not all cut out for sports.  listen to your body, take the hint, and hang up the ol' ball shoes.  you live in nor cal now, go pick mushrooms or something.  climb a tree, hug it.  spot whales.

Meh. I'm not a ballhog and I'm not super lazy on defense. If you always chuck fastbreak 3s on every change of possession, you're a jerk. You're also probably a jerk if you defend the guy that does.

What's your stance on "always describe my shot after I release it" guy?

Off right!
Ooh, that's short!
Moneyball!

I'll admit that "moneyball" makes me laugh in the appropriate context.

Just foul him. At our pickup game a guy is still verbally mocked 2 months after calling a charge.

Just call a carry next game and everyone will forget that you took a charge.

Had a guy call a carry on me after he kneed me in the groin.  I recovered and hit a 9 foot floater.  He says "no good you carried the ball"  I look at him and say "AND ONE" and head back down the floor.  Nobody else even acknowledged his call.  He pretty much pouted the rest of the time we played.  He never came and played with us again.  :dunno:

somewhat similar: A guy got an offensive rebound right under the basket in traffic. He went up with the shot, and kind of got hammered, but didn't call the foul and got the rebound. Then he took another shot and got hammered and didn't call the foul again. Then I took the ball from him. Then he called a foul. Then everyone laughed at him and went the other way. good times.

or a 3 seconds

not the same but i was an intramural ref at the rec and the other ref called a defensive 3 seconds..he then made it even worse by calling a technical when the team argued the call. If you were at KSU from 05-10 I bet you can guess which ref it was.

F that guy man, F him in the A. He plays at lifetime fitness now by the way, saw him get a tooth knocked out last year and it secretly made me happy.
