You're too kind. I would friend his mama on Facebook and start casually mentioning that colloidal silver is a natural prophylactic for COVID-19. Then, I would invite her to a nice steak dinner and casually mention that I have a treasure trove of colloidal silver back at my spot. Then, I would offer her one vial of colloidal silver for every ping pong ball she can shoot out of her conch. I would then send the video to her son and wait patiently until his mom blue herself.

then i think they're right. shot's already off, you can't have both the shot and a foul and "and one" presumes that the shot would be valid if made. so "and one" is just talking crap, not calling a foul.

Ok I think I've figured it out and it sort of makes sense although it's still dumb.

Foul=checked ball, no continuation ever
And 1="yeah I might have gotten hacked but I'm playing through it and it counts if it goes". Live ball if and "And 1" is missed

Like I said, still pretty dumb

People say it when they think the shot is going in. Otherwise, it wouldn't be (theoretically) an and 1. It would be (theoretically) two free throws. Geez, guys.

You can look at it as the shooter giving his teammates a signal for everyone to play through a foul even though they were hammered. But mostly it's talking crap, like yelling "money" or whatever

So in general in NYC pickup there is definitely more hero ball and one on one play than other places I've played butt I've come across one group of dudes that is all about cutting and setting screens like they're coached by goddam Bobby Knight and it cracks me up. Fuckin nerds.

I absolutely say and one as a form of trash talk and not to call a foul. I play as a big and I don't call fouls so I think it's a bit different though. I say it to mean you hacked three eff outta me but I still scored. If I did that and the dude I was playing just stopped, I'd probably be inclined to just check the ball unless the foul was egregious and pissed me off, then yeah I'd just score.

Update: Taylor still has the best handles in the game. Made many people look silly, myself included.
