Maybe not more than you'd expect form a D-1 recruit, but sounds like a step up from Orris.

Foster bombs away
Star guard scores 34 as No. 11 Huskies overwhelm Graham
Marcus Foster and the Hirschi Huskies weren’t missing much of anything except free throws, and their defense overwhelmed Graham in an 85-49 victory Tuesday night at Husky Fieldhouse.

Foster made 6-of-7 3-pointers and 13-of-19 field goals to score a game-high 34 points. Mack Sillemon set the table with eight assists, while Devonte Barnes had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.

It was the response on the defensive end that Hirschi coach Donald Hedge was proud to see. The No. 11 Huskies had stumbled on that end in their previous game, a 73-69 win at Vernon.

“We got back to what we try to do daily and that was good to see,” Hedge said. “For us it starts with defense and when we can force teams into taking tough shots, everything else falls in place. Make them take tough shots and rebound the ball.”

The Huskies (16-7, 6-0) took the court on a high note after watching their girls team claim the District 5-3A championship.

The boys will need wins over Iowa Park, at home Friday, and at Burkburnett on Tuesday to duplicate that feat.

Graham (10-18, 3-4) made just eight of 28 field goals in the first half and was forced into 16 turnovers before intermission.

“I thought tonight we got back to aggressive, fundamental defense,” Hedge said. “Sometimes at Vernon we were trying to take the ball from our man dribbling and that gave up some easy opportunities. We got back to doing what we do well and that’s defend and play together.”

The Huskies led 48-22 at the break after Foster’s 15-point second quarter. He made six field goals while missing just once, but misfired on two of his three free throws in the period.

Foster, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard who has signed with Kansas State, then hit 6-of-7 field goals in the second half, including three from 3-point land.

Vernon's upset bid of Hirschi rims out
VERNON — A shot by Vernon to tie the game with eight seconds remaining rimmed out, and the Hirschi Huskies escaped D.O. Fulton Gym with a 73-69 victory over the Lions in a hard-fought District 5-3A contest Friday night.

No. 11 Hirschi was up 71-69 when the Lions came up with a steal near midcourt. Vernon’s Jacobi White drove to the basket, but with Marcus Foster there to attempt a block, White altered his shot just enough to make the ball rim in and out.

Vernon’s Kenny Edwards was there for the offensive rebound, but his shot was a little strong and Hirschi grabbed the rebound.

The Huskies (15-7, 5-0) came out rolling and were up 21-10 at the end of the first quarter. Vernon cut the lead to 41-34 at the half.

Hirschi was hampered by turnovers in the third quarter and Vernon cut into that lead even more, 55-49, going into the final quarter.

The Huskies were never able to put the pesky Lions away in the fourth quarter. Vernon pulled to within one point several times in the final period, but was never able to tie the game or take the lead.

Foster was a force for the Huskies, scoring 33 of the team’s 73 points.

Vernon had four players in double-figures. Tyrone McFarland hit four 3-points and led the Lions with 14 points, while White had 12.

If he's legitimately 6'4", I'd really, really love that.

And here's another of Marcus, the windmill dunk at the end is just ridiculous. Guys we are going to have the best back court in the league with Thomas and Foster.

I love him so hard already. Him and Angel in the backcourt for the 2015 season is going to be Denis/Jake take 2 (not because they have the same skillset, just because the will be amazingly fun to watch).

He may be a good player, but he's playing against some incredibly pud competition.  Looks like a gaggle of poorman's Spradlings in most of those highlights.  Buncha scrawny derps tripping over their own feet.  :flush:  "Oh man, sick jam over that autistic kid!"  Where the hell is bushblister?
My prescience is fully engorged.  It throbs with righteous accuracy.  I am sated.

yeah, good point. but, Sam Duren has been saying for over a year that he is a rough ridin' steal in this class and can't believe he isn't a top 150. I like him a lot.

From by POV, someone demonstratively better than Spradling sounds like just what we need.

May be crap competition, but you can't deny the dude's athleticism.  6-2?  Kidding me?  If he's got a jump shot, he'll be quite good in the BigXII .

:dubious:

Angel is probably my favorite K-State player of all time, and Foster is a shooting guard who can dunk on the reg. Even Pullen couldn't do that.

The no left was noticeable. But slower than crap? Frankly, there's not enough to judge, but he out runs the afro haired guy he stole the ball from for a dunk.

Anyway he had 16 points and 9 rebounds last night as his team blew away some overmatched opponent. But the first graph of this story sounds like he's ready to fill Tay's shoes:

Marcus Foster tries to make sure the Hirschi Huskies are always excited and ready to go at the start of a basketball game.

The Huskies love to play the game. But their star players were taking just as much pleasure on thisoccasion to watch their teammates as Donald Hedge sent out a starting five of Julius Hastings, Devin Gilliam, Latrei Edmond, Devonte Hall and Wesley Gates.

The Huskies stars cheered them for the first four minutes and much of the fourth quarter as the Huskies ran past Iowa Park, 87-53.

Usual starters Foster, Terrence Cooper, Mack Sillemon and Devonte Barnes happily took a seat when Hedge ran the idea by them.
