SOUTH MIAMI FUTURE

There have been some lean years for the South Miami football team, but the future could be brighter thanks to some underclassmen.

The Cobras have a freshman and two sophomores who could figure in the improvement of the program this season.

Ninth-grade running back Bennie Powell, sophomore linebacker Matthew De La Vega and 6-8, 255-pound 10th grade lineman Antravious Simmons will be something very special for coach Eric Washington.

K-STATE OFFERS SLEEPER BIG
Published on July 1, 2011 by admin   ·   No Comments
It looks like the recruitment of Antravious Simmons (South Miami HS) is about to pick up in a hurry. The 6’9 class of 2013 power forward recently received his first high major offer from Kansas State University. What makes this story so interesting is that Simmons is not on ANY recruiting list ANYWHERE. In the age of Facebook, Twitter, Skype, ooVoo and all the dot coms, dot nets and dot orgs that a 6’9 high major player in a major city goes unnoticed is amazing (SMH). However, Source Hoops saw Simmons back in April and college coaches who are subscribers to the Source Hoops Review already have the emerging big man on their radar. Simmons has shed about 30lbs and looks in great shape. He runs the floor well, has great hands, solid footwork and good moves in the paint.

Simmons will be traveling with Team Breakdown in July. His first stop will be at the Source Hoops Elite Camp July 5-6 at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach Florida. We expect his recruitment to go viral in July!!

So did we offer him because he is from Miami?

It's better than offering him because he is from Junction City.

Source hoops is going to be keeping their eye on big Tra' during the live period, and really, what more could ask you for than that?:

"Center

Antravious Simmons – 6’9 South Miami/Team Breakdown:  We originally had another player slotted for this spot until we got word of Frank Martin and K-State offering this developing big.  We had a brief glimpse of him in April but not enough of one to make an evaluation.  Now that he has supposedly dropped some weight and is moving well for a guy his size, Simmons will certainly be a priority during the live period."

Going to the well 1 more time at Source Hoops, looks like Pastrana is establishing a S. Fla to SEK pipeline. Really tough to say if any of the 3 prospects headed to Labette could project to be high-major players but it sounds like Pastrana is already using his connections and garnering decent talent at his new job:

more evidence that kstate is declining to expend much effort with price-martin.

Hill highlight vid, I'm impressed, has some freaky athleticism and looks like he can really light it up.

Kinda surprised Rivals still only as him as a 3* as Meyer saw him play last fall, I'm thinking he'll at least be in their Top 100 by the end of the summer.
