I want Bama to play KSU and club them like a baby seal. Sorry KSUUUUUU wildcats!

Quote
What K-State has going on in Manhattan is more fragile than it looks. Recruiting there will always be hard due to location. A lot of their talent from the KC area literally has to drive by KU to get there! All Leipold has to do is beat Klieman one time.. just ONCE, and I think you will start to see things shift quickly.

It's no accident that KU and K-State have never been good at the same time. When they are good, we suck. When they hired Ron Prince and started sucking, we got good. Its the nature of a low population state IMO. Guys like Jake Sharp etc. matter. Anyway, I think Leipold beats him in Lawrence next year. We just return too much to not be good. Don't see Portal hurting us either. Too much energy and momentum here.

Well, trying to be rational about taters winning today, but

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote
This is why Texas deserved to play Texas Christian and why the officiating ultimately impacted our game against the Taters.

Quote
What's more ridiculous is that if TCU doesn't get in, they don't even get the top bowl game for the conference. Three loss K-State goes to the Sugar Bowl. ***** this damn conference championship game.

Quote
The most asinine thing is that the Big 12 recognizes the winner of the conference championship game as the official league champion. TCU won't even get a trophy for going undefeated in the regular season.

Quote
**** K-State. Inbred mother ********.

Quote
Let’s be clear, TCU lost that game in OT. KSU did not win it.

It's kind of shitty that a team can run the table in conference and then lose the title game and the team with two conference loses gets named "Conference Champ".

Quote
K-State is the single luckiest team you will ever watch play football.

Quote
They won the equivalent of a basketball post-season tournament.

TCU won the Big 12.

Quote
My problem is that the winner of the championship game is declared the Big 12 Champion. In this year's case, TCU is clearly the champion by going undefeated and it's a joke to declare otherwise.

Quote
Well we did that for several years with no championship game. Then got left out a few times, so the BigXII reintroduced and everyone was happy. Until this year. Now listening to you guys, it's stupid. Maybe the phog should decide which year we do or do not have a CCG.

Quote
There is absolutely no fairness in making an undefeated league champion play a one game playoff against a team it has already beaten and finished two games ahead of.

Quote
There is no championship game needed. You don’t get it. Imagine KU goes 16-2 but before being crowned conf champ, has to play #2 (who they already beat) AGAIN

It is the stupidest ******** thing I’ve ever seen.

This is for a=holes that don't know how to read:                                                                                                  2008 Orange Bowl - Wikipedia
Kansas' victory in the 2008 Orange Bowl had far-reaching effects for both Virginia Tech and Kansas as well as college football teams around the country. The victory allowed Kansas to finish its 2007 season with a final record of 12–1, while the loss brought Virginia Tech to a final record of 11–3.

You were referencing Missouri fans complaining about their bowl placement.  KU was assigned the Orange Bowl in early December, 2007.  I'm pretty sure the bulk of complaining from MU fans was during that month.  Like, they wouldn't have waited a whole month to start complaining.  But I'm an bad person who doesn't know how to read?

Quote
When they were in the Big XII, they constantly complained about their bowl placement.  Especially in '08 when KU got the Orange Bowl.

Man, we finally have a good enough year for local kids to pay attention and KState does this. Woof.

Quote
Kids worth their salt would have watched that game and realized the ending of that BigXII championship game was bogus.

Not to mention, KSU is one year away from a full-blown rebuild.

K-State claiming to have won the Big 12 in football is the same as when Iowa State prints shirts saying "Big 12 Champs" after winning the postseason basketball tournament.

Winning the next 2 would be huge for this program. Here are some random stats for the almost no tradition nu-est big 12. Some relevent, some not so much, but still talking/recruiting points I guess.

Of the teams remaining in the Big 12 after UT and OU leave in July 2025, here is the count on Big 12 championships so far:

Baylor - 3
K-State - 2
TCU - 1
OSU - 1

Simultaneously securing our spot (tied) atop this list and aTm'ing TCU by winning the Big 12 championship would be so fantastic.  To me, the Sugar Bowl is a distant consolation prize or bonus....it's all about conference championships.
CCG win would be a nice feather in the cap.

Probably discussed elsewhere but where does this season rank all-time if the Cats manage to win the last two games? It seems like we've had some great seasons ( 1998, 2003, 2012) end with disappointing bowl performances so it would be awesome to finish with winning, winning and more winning.
No question this season would be top 5 if we win the Big 12.

Could be considered the best year ever if we win the Big 12 AND beat Alabama in the Sugar.  2003 and 2012 both ended with a bowl loss.

Leipold knew KU wasn't going to convert a 4th and long the way that JD was throwing balls into the dirt on that drive, so he probably figured KU would have a better chance of KSU muffing the punt and getting a big play on special teams to set up a score.  That's what I thought while watching it.

If Texas loses on Friday we shouldn’t play any starters. The game would mean nothing.

Imagine winning the Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl but having it marred by losing to the squawks.
Imagine Deuce or Felix getting injured playing a regular season game with no implications other than bragging rights.

But there certainly are implications in terms of in-state recruiting.  And keeping donors happy affects the health of the program as well.  Not putting a serious effort into winning this game would be a huge mistake.

So a potential 9 and 4 team goes to the Sugar? I'd rather play Bama than LSU, would be fun to hear a three hour tribute to  :billdance: and get to play an all timer.

A potential 8-5 team could play in the Sugar if Baylor beats Texas on Friday.  An unlikely scenario, but it would be funny to then romp all over Alabama and win the Sugar.

Is there going to be anything left of the existing parking lots after that?  Wouldn't that just make an already bad parking situation even worse?

I’d rather have two stabs at making the playoffs with howard than try to win a conference championship this year

I thought that the covid year did not count toward eligibility, so wouldn't that make Howard a sophomore this year anyway?  Was it not a "free" year for everyone?

My response is that K-State has won something like 38 national championships by individual track & field athletes in their respective events.  So what if it wasn't a "team" title.

I would be forever grateful if someone compiled a nice summary of meltdown comments from ISU, OU, and UT message boards.
From Surly Horns:

So I shut it off in the 4th. But I’m reading the make a wish kid in Kansas caught the 2 point.  The kid who played cello for the local church and never saw football was able to suit you for one game as his last wish and caught the winning catch snapping a streak dating back to W bush.

eff this entire organization

You could put Mahomes and the KC o-line on KU and the team would still suck balls.

Ive said this before. If mahomes was on this team he would suck. Tyreek hill would suck. Its the aura when you step on the field here.

Anyone think it’s a coincidence that the suicide prevention commercial is playing every timeout during a KU football game broadcast?

Glad we barely avoided losing our first game so we don’t have back to back winless and completely non-competitive seasons in a row.

I am back on line after a week in Council Grove - trying out the new Olive Garden for dinner tonight befor seeing the Prince of Persia.

I mean, this was at probably the most intense doom filled moment of this entire thread. THE PLANE WAS IN THE AIR! THE CONFERENCE WAS DISBANDING!

:Bump:

Hey goEMAWers.  You should know that I just drove 8 hours in my ride alone from Scat 'N' Splooge to Chattanoog to visit my G'ma.  It was fracking agony knowing that I was missing like 12 pages of 'teve 'ave retweets and fatty fat fat renouncing and whatnot.  Luckily, my Grandma is within a wireless signal of her nextdoor neighbor.

Good to be back, bros!

shazbot! me.  shazbot! ME.  Seriously.  I originally posted the quoted excerpt before reading the latest developments.  Those developments have now flung me into the depths of despair that I don't think I've felt in sports life or real life since 1998.  I was all hopeful before I made my drive, thinking that the new Big XII Lite TV deal was gonna save us.  Then I read that Schultz was at OLIVE M-Fing GARDEN and watching RON PRINCE OF F***ING PERSIA.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME, DUDE?  That's really what you're doing while aTm is busy accepting SEC deals and while the Pac-10 plane gets set to fly 45 minutes east of Lawrence?

I now feel like Jennay when she took LSD at that party in the 70s and was on the edge of a rooftop deciding whether or not to "see if she could fly."  Only difference is I'm prolly gonna go through with it here in a few.  It's been nice knowing you, athletic relevance.

Colorado Fracking State.  We're gonna be them.  (What are we gonna call the rivalry?)

Gene seemed extra losery and nervously awkward in the Ask the AD segment today.

During the last go-around when crap was hitting the fan I remember our president tweeting about going out to eat at Olive Garden and watching "Prince of Persia".
