Obama endorsed Harris? Guess Dax will have to double down on another talking point now.

The Obamas (both), yes.

Our rugby team looks pretty good. Made it to the quarter finals.

I'm told the Italian beef (sandwich) is the true signature dish of Chicago. Al's Beef and Portillo's seem to be mentioned the most. I'd go to Al's.

The Highland Park wiki page addresses that. It was like the OG suburb/development. They tried to have Dallas annex them, but Dallas said no. Years later, after the Highland Park development proved successful and Dallas had continued to expand around them, Dallas tried to annex them, but they flipped Dallas the bird.

5
“an outlying part of a city or town. b. : a smaller community adjacent to or within commuting distance of a city. c. suburbs plural : the residential area on the outskirts of a city or large town.”

6
They are cities within the city. Completely encapsulated within Dallas. Now look up the definition of suburban and try to square that circle. (I also notice you deleted your post.)

7
They are defnitely sub-urban

I should know, I lived in Dallas for 2 years.
Alright, let’s see your rhetorical argument, because you’re obvs not going to admit you’re wrong.

8
UP/HP are not suburbs. I should know.

very excited to share a beautiful evening at starlight with vampire weekend tonight.

their encores this tour are all covers as requested by the audience. think i have a good suggestion, and fantastic seats.  :crossfingers:
I saw Vampire Weekend at ACL moons ago at ACL expecting to roll my eyes a lot, but I ended up becoming a huge fan of theirs.
2013? That lineup was basically millennial woodstock
Sounds right.

So weird seeing Stanford, Cal, and SMU on there.

Need to see a pic of Cire.

The appropriate response is a “rock chalk” right back.

Seems like there's no way it's anyone but Kamala. Which I think is best at this point. Obama seems like the most significant player that hasn't explicitly endorsed her

https://x.com/GavinNewsom/status/1815168477562646858

I don't think there's anything in him not endorsing yet. He also slow played Hilary in 16 and Biden in 20. It's only been a couple of hours and it's probably prudent for him not to endorse just a couple of hours into this process.

Sidenote, I really truly hope she doesn't pick Newsom. I would prefer Whitmer or Shapiro, probably not going to be either, but it can't be Newsom, which means it probably will be.
Two Californians? Not a chance.

Kind of disrespectful to call a WWII memorial to fallen soldiers a cell tower.

Storming normandy and facing down communism aren't mutually exclusive.

there were zero communists on the beaches at Normandy.  So she means like later in life they faced down communism in the cold war?
I mean, assuming she's talking about the same group of people, then, maybe?  i think there were quite a few WWII vets in Korea.

I think more probably she was using "heroes" as a category of people, some of whom did different things at different times. E.g. "American soldiers are brave!  They fought the barbary pirates and killed osama bin laden."

All that to say, i don't think this lady with a graduate degree meant that the people storming normandy did so to fight communism.
What graduate degree?

I think she's talking about different groups of veterans.  And even if she wasn't, storming normandy and facing down communism aren't mutually exclusive.
Except in this case, the only communists involved in WWII worked hand in glove with the Allied Forces, and had since 1941 …

I have a feeling the reason it’s not released is that he was grazed as slightly as anyone has ever been grazed before.

If he was missing a chunk of ear, the political value of that would be too much for him to avoid showing it off. The more grizzled the better. If he showed of something that looks like a slight cut, ppl may have significantly less sympathy for him than they do now. He is allowing those with sympathy to fill in the Knowles gap with their imagination, which is probably much worse than the actual injury, I would bet.
Yup

Not sure it goes ITT  but have we discussed the weird names boomer/elder GenX grandparents are going by these days? In my day you called your grandparent something like "Grandpa/grandma [insert last name]" or "Grandpa/grandma [insert first name]" for something super informal. These days, grandparents seem to go by whatever the first vocalization their grandchild makes in their direction. I don't like it.

I really hate this. In Oklahoma I’ve heard about a lot of first time grandmas getting to pick their grandma name.
I will make an exception for foreign language equivalents.

I personally don't think raising kids is that expensive right now

The biggest issue is probably housing costs. It's a lot harder for one parent to stay home than it used to be. Everyone pays that, though, so it's not really a "cost of having kids" thing.
It's kind of hard to raise kids in an apartment I'd think.

nobody midwesterns harder than dlew
There is no region of the country where that sentiment does not hold true for the majority of people.
How about NYC?
Yeah maybe it's preferable to raise kids in a more confined space.
Well of course everyone wants a sprawling estate wherever they live, but it’s not feasible some places. I reread your message and noted that you merely referred to a preference, not feasibility.
