Yes, not a great position at all.

That senior night was a rough ridin' dumpster fire of a game. Firing balls into the stands, no real urgency at all. Forget making shots, which obviously didn’t happen. We just suck.

I was fairly ecstatic when we hired tang. I felt like his personality could possibly breathe life into a fan base obviously coming off a couple really hard years, but was ready for a winner again. And that’s exactly what happened.

What I hate now that he’s losing is his pressers. He literally says the same things every time. He doesn’t seem all that bothered by losing. The signs are there. All hat no cattle. We’ve seen this. I really don’t want him to veer into Ron prince territory.

Times are a bit dire. Next year will be huge. I’d seriously love to see him turn it around.

Foil. It sounds like 12 other words when you say it. Never sounds cool.
What other words does it sound like?

Foiled? Like was prevented from doing something. Oil. Soil. Spoil. I'm sorry if you were trying to do a joke and i ruined it. great thread btw. I'm having a weird day.

No i just don't get why the fact that it rhymes with other words makes it weird

Well, give me your definition of what a weird word is. To me, foil is weird cuz it's weird to say and I have an air fryer so I'm asking people to hand me foil almost daily.

Dunno if original post is serious. Embrace Tang guys, best chance at a natty we will ever have.

Now, it could go horribly. But his vision is exactly what we want. (Sorry, haven't been on this board in awhile and just found it again, dunno why i sound like i'm preaching).

What exactly is Tang's vision?

I think he was initially out on NIL bullshit. Just wanted to build a good team and locker room. The west virginia power forwards were hard on him. (asking for new money after they were already basically signed).

He came here to coach. He loves this crap. The Hawkins deal shows me he's is adapting to the new environment. Are the initial returns on that deal good? No. But we don't have a lot of data yet. I do think he's the kind of guy who isn't going to accept losing for too long. We'll see.

Kansas State Football / Re: Coaching approach in our new NIL world.....
« on: December 02, 2024, 07:42:16 PM »
Ive been thinking about this and was curious what others thought.  Preface, this is a gross generalization & kind of an incoherent rant about the NIL:

Referencing the big money NIL deal players:  How the heck does a coach motivate a player to do better / work harder if they are making millions of dollars and there really is no threat of them loosing their starting spot?  Donors want to see their money utilized on the field and not riding the bench.....  So how do you get what you need out of these guys if there is the threat of them hitting the transfer portal and getting millions at a different school...?  Who was the CB that checked out during the ISU game last year and then moved on to Oregon?  Speaking of Oregon, Cure was just at Oregon again on another visit.........  Dollars and cents are motivating these guys, not the threat of playing time.
I, like some others, thought that Roberson should come in a take over for Avery.  I have zero inside info on the inner thoughts in Averys head, but how do you keep a guy like that from hitting the transfer portal if he just needs "more work"...?
I dont like feeling like my team is being held hostage by big money NIL guys and their assumed starting position that comes with it.

Will Lee.

Just donate whatever you can to wildcat NIL for now. It's going to get regulated as time moves forward, it's kinda the wild west right now out there. The best we can do is have really good coaches and a really good culture that keeps kids around. Even with the money, most kids want to play with their friends. So if the locker room is fun and healthy they will inherantly want to stick around.

Kansas State Football / Re: Why is Jayce Brown Not Talked About More?
« on: December 02, 2024, 07:34:29 PM »
I mean, at the end of the day, fans are gonna be fans. I'm at least glad we care.  It's not fun to see a player say "I'm out". However, you should pretty much always end up on the side of the players in these deals, even in these early days of NIL. There's a lot of reasons I personally believe that, that maybe some have to figure out for themselves. But ultimately, I do think holding ourselves to a higher standard than what I see on social media would be great.

Kansas State Football / Re: Why is Jayce Brown Not Talked About More?

If that tweet about Jayce transferring was about a KU, Iowa State, Nebraska, Colorado, OU player the fans would absolutely rip the crap account tweeted it out and insist that no one would ever want to leave their school. Instead of K-State social media doing that, we had people falling all over themselves to crap on Brown, our best damn wide receiver. We had the owner of a fan site quote tweeting the tweet to call Brown a team cancer. It got so bad the dude had to tweet, from the airplane to Ames, that he's focused on the game.

There isn't a fan base that we're peers too that hate our players as much as we do. People who leave keep telling us the same crap, but we keep deflecting. "Oh if you think we're bad wait until you hear Ohio State fans." Is that the standard we want, do we want to be compared to fan bases that are routinely mocked for being mean assholes? Yes, people told Will Howard to eff himself. You know the difference, he's going to have 100,000 fans cheering him on for a home playoff game in 3 weeks. Why the eff would you put up with fans who act like we've ever done anything significant when we have the history and resources of rough ridin' Baylor? I'm so rough ridin' sick of motherfuckers in this fan base acting like being decent is a weak personality trait. Yes, these people are the exception, but they're the loud as eff exception. The fans who go to games, cheer, and go home aren't the ones @ing players and coaches, being rough ridin' dickheads.

We're so rough ridin' miserable that we have KU burners standing up for our own players.

Basically, yes, Tom. Or at least get there and perform well. And oddly enough (or not), I can see them making it.

football is a difficult sport to referee.  we introduced replay to help.  then you have an obvious situation on saturday that should have been reversed and validate the use of replay but the official spent almost five minutes reviewing the play and ultimately was unable to correctly utilize the tool to get the call right.

the only excuse for not being able to get the call correct after spending that much time on review is that he’s not qualified for his job and should be replaced

At this point I'm not even sure he has the ability to override the calls. Like, he may literally be hearing in his headset the call, and just has to go with that. I don't actually know for sure. Either way yes, it could get way way better.

I mean, they are better than us currently in both major sports. That's not debatable. Obviously a statement like "they are passing us" is silly. However, in any comedic comment there should be some truth. Last time I checked, message boards were the best place to talk crap like that.

it seems to me that investing in your officiating via higher pay and training is one of the easiest ways to improve your league.  brett must have a different take

This is a great note. Have you seen what's happening in the NFL lately though? Refereeing has run into a lot of trouble there too. It may be because the game is getting more complicated to referree. But it's noticablly worse.  :dunno:

I’ve barely watched any games this year and was being overly dramatic. It’s gonna be fine.

Never give up on the bit big train (comedy note).

I don't think the 16-team big 12 will be easier to win than the 10-team Big 12. But you'll see more variance. I haven't compared it to others but we probably had one of the toughest league schedules - we played all 4 that tied for first and 3 of them were on the road.

ISU and CU didn't have to play anyone else in the top 4 at all. TCU didn't have to play any of them either, Tech and BU only had to play 2.

Yeah, I guess. It just seems like we are setup so much better to win in football than basketball. Basketball is gonna be a nightmare going forward. There's gonna be like 6-8 top 25 teams every year. Football is so much more manageable for us and I hope we don't fumble it (no pun intended).

I think the simple fact that there are 16 teams instead of 10 inherently makes conference titles less likely than they used to be. But yeah we're probably closer in football, mainly because there isn't an equivalent of Arizona or KU (or now Houston) in football.

Amazingly, it's ISU, houston and KU. (We are getting passed by ISU in both sports).

What?  are you on drugs?

Do you not know what the term un-hinged means? Guys, this message board used to be fun.

I mean, it was always a board when gEing worked best when you picked your spots. 'clams has no issue here

Fair enough. I'll pick my spots. I feel like that was fair feedback both ways.
