I don't think I've been to a cracker barrel in this century.

I know September will blaze and be hot but today we set a record low in KC.

I wear a cup but got tagged in a JV game off a foul ball pretty hard a couple years back. It was brutal.

One day at a time. Noah Cameron tonight baby.

I will say your August outlook really changes when Royals are in the chase. I mean I still hate August but still

9
The football facility stuff looks great. The actual in-stade experience is going to be very mild unless it's a big game like the Cats or something. I don't see that stade getting loud.

They won't cut BOTH ceremony AND Wildcat March

I went to the pool from 2:30 to 4:30 on Sunday and it was WOOF. Like being in the pool was fine but as soon as I got out to read a book or lay on a lawn chair it was oppressively hot.

I'm definitely looking forward to temps in the 70's for KC next week.

Every person I know besides DLew agrees with this normal reasonable take.

The ceremony of allegiance will never go away, despite everyone hating it. Nobody is going to subject themselves to that week of phone calls and emails.

I'll bet you a six pack that if we make an external hire it will be gone next season.

and the chances of them making an external hire are probably 0%

Not true at all. It's a very coveted job that is hard to get because there are so few jobs at that level, and people tend to do what Dr. Tracz did which is stay for as long as possible. They'll have tons of people applying. It's a very good job, and a high profile enough one at the school that they'll take it pretty seriously.

Like him or not, he earned their Sudler Trophy (closest thing to a college marching band national championship).

Yeah the Sudler Trophy is not really anything to brag about.  It's a participation prize. It's actually pretty damning that we only got it so recently.

To say its damning we only got it recently is pretty stupid. There are plenty of great band programs that haven't won it. It's an award you apply for and they consider if you get it or not. Not the National Championship of band, sure, but still something that is worthy of recognition. I'm no Dr. Tracz apologist but the band is so much bigger and better than it was when I participated in the early 2000s.

I'm not a wildcat march hater, I'm indifferent to it and don't think it's the biggest issue with the pregame, though I wouldn't be mad if it were gone. If it stays, they should incorporate some cooler marching band thing. Script Ohio isn't some crazy pump up song, people just like it because of what the band does. Same thing with Texas A&Ms fake army music, it's the precise marching that people like.

The run on continues to be cool, I like it. The ceremony of allegiance is wack. I get that we have to do the national anthem, listening to the preamble and doing the pledge of allegiance is completely unnecessary, it's a football game. I liked the few years when the band formed a K tunnel and the players ran through it. If it was the operations staff, or the head coach that got rid of that, that's fine, I guess, if it was Dr. Tracz that did, it should come back.

You are correct about the Ceremony of Allegiance, losing that would be a major upgrade. V good ideas.

I was rereading this thread and one of Dlew's talking points is he doesn't like hoodies and layers. I mean is he on a really bad drug or something?

As for pregame, I'm not sure what changes people want. Drop Wildcat March?

Dr. Tracz is retiring. This is his last football season.
He’s done a lot of good things but rumblings are that it is time.

say more about that

As a non band hater, and someone not at all familiar with the day to day, everything around game day and pregame is extremely stale and the band has a massive role in that. It's no secret that Dr. Tracz is let's say, hesitant to change and is really particular about his fiefdom.

I can also report that he's ruffled some feathers around the athletic department multiple times. The email begging for money for Ireland was embarrassing for the department, especially given the funding was already provided for the band, and he didn't go through the proper channels in making sure that email, with a very false narrative, went out.

Hadn't heard about that email. I can understand why it would be a problem.

See there's where I disagree. I was at the pool yesterday and after about 90 minutes even with the water it's like "welp, gotta get out of this oppressive sun."

There are still like 40 regular season games left, how is that even possible.

Losing a lot of weight has made summer slightly more bearable and winter much less bearable

Nice going bud. Proud of you.

13 year old's soccer coach wants them to watch film after every game and fill out a reflection form. It's kinda silly IMO

I work at a school and there's just something horrible about it being so hot on a school day.

25
Take a deep breath and look at the 10 day outlook for KC.  It's over, we made it.

It's not over but there will be non horrible days soon I agree
