Mrs SF just got a 100k SW personal card offer with 5 months to spend the 4k. She also has until september to open the card so that should push well in to 2026 to have the 100k hit. Seems like a no brainer right? It's her turn in the SW companion pass churn, so it seems like I can sign up for this and then get a business card whenever to clear the companion pass threshold in early 2026 right? The offer lists the new benefits related to SW changing their seating and bag policy, but i'm not seeing any specific changes to the companion pass program. I think SD mentioned that he heard they may be changing it so I'm just checking as this seems like a great deal.
they haven’t announced any changes to the companion pass but i’m sure they will.

Still prob worth the risk to get the card in September then hit the 4k spend in January and see what happens I guess.  :dunno:

I think changes would be announced in 26 for 27 if anything. They have already granted out CP until 12/31/26 for those who have qualified. Not that companies haven't pulled back benefits before.

I become enraged at people who walk into a subway and just stand there in front of the door like they're the last person to get on instead of filling in empty space. It's a new thing for me, not sure why although my commute has changed a bit.

same with elevators. very enraging thing.

X post with “hilarious things at your office” thread but my new little bit is if I’m ever getting on the elevator with my colleagues that I know I’ll say “5, please” (our entire office is only on the 5th floor) or similarly if leaving the office at the same time as someone else I’ll say “1, please” total deadpan delivery. Absolutely murders ev-er-y time

Thanks for reminding me....Elevator small talkers

facing wrong way. Almost always a boomer male.

Thanks for the input guys. We are going to Italy for a week. The plan is to stay in Rome for 3 days, train to Florence for 2 days, train to Venice for 2 days and then fly back home. Still figuring out the specifics for each place but that's what we are gonna roll with. Excited! I haven't been to Italy in 20 years and she has never been to Europe period.

This is almost exactly what my trip to Italy was. We went to Milan too but do not do that. It sucks. Great plan.

Mitch Richmond turned 60 today.

I used to work the k-state basketball camps during the summers and one summer mitch came back to appear at one of the sessions.

well, every night after the campers were sent back to their dorms, the current and former players, and others working the camp, would play pick up games for a couple hours in the upper ahearn gyms.

mitch was one of the pick up team captains and as the two captains were picking teams, he looked over and pointed at me and said, in these exact words “i’ll take slim”.

anyway that’s how I got to share the court with a  6 time nba all star and game mvp. he could drain it from anywhere on the court.

How many dimes did you drop to Mitch?

I currently have it until end of 2026 so I hope it holds on a bit as well. Use it all the time.

My daily driver is the csp. Hyatt card for my hotel stays. I haven't churned in a long time.

Sent from my moto g stylus 5G (2022) using Tapatalk

same for me. I will churn the SW cards every two years with Mrs SF to keep the companion pass, but that's about it for me. Like Rusty, I like to have a mostly central spot for points that I can move around. Since I don't stay at Marriott anymore for work, I use Hyatt mostly for hotel. I try and use SW to fly since I almost always have a companion pass. Outside of those two, I just grab flights that are the most cost effective, usually through Chase. I have room to grab another card or two, I can never decide on which is the best deal for me so I usually just sit tight.

I think SW is gutting the companion pass as well fyi

whoa, haven't heard this. would be a bummer. I'm on my second year so was planning on what type of business Mrs SF was going to be in for the application this fall.

there was a survey sent out hinting at dropping it and/or only being part of a new 6? tier system and only the top tier getitng it. something like that.

what card should I get instead of CSR now that it's dumb? I haven't been churning, just rolling with the CSR for years.

Airline / hotel specific one? I just got the big boy AA citi card as I was tired of being out of the game and my chase time is a ways off. Cap1 and Citi general cards all seem pud
I would rather have a general everyday card

Seems like downgrade to CSP then?

Anything south of 435 is southern.

correct

Seems like the consensus. As a non-joco I would always think like 95th street but that's probably from a generation ago.

any decent southern JOCO lunch spots?

Much like the definition of western kansas is subjective, what is the north/south JOCO dividing line?

i bought a mac book pro a long time ago and never really learned how to use the operating system.

i decided that although i do appreciate the coolness factor of the mac book, i prefer to stick with the windows computers and apple for phone/ipad.

I switched over to Mac for personal laptop but I'm not very versed in it's shortcuts like I am Windows but I like the form factor, battery life, and functionality more overall. My days of needing to rely on heavy shortcut and advanced PC skills are luckily long gone.

Drove around Denmark today. Their traffic lights do something we should do. In the second before a light changes from red to green, the yellow comes on with the red to tell you it’s about to turn green. They all let off their brakes when the yellow comes on & are already starting to push the gas pedal when the light turns green.

I feel like I've seen this in Mexico too?

have not bought yet, but have been looking into how to make my place smell incredible all the time, without having to buy stuff over and over, and it seems like candle warmers is the answer. stay tuned

I toyed with those oil diffusers and hooking it directly into my HVAC but never committed. I now use wax melters on each floor then my smart switch kicks them on/off a daily schedule.
