Kansas State Football / Re: Greg Sharpe; pancreatic cancer

Today the call came.

Greg, we were friends long ago. First by radio, then by mutual acquaintance. I hope you’re at peace and travel quickly to the next life.

Damn… I’m so sad.

Dylan … 18 for 196.

Fun fact:

NUbb scored a solid 14 points vs Rutgers. At home.

Greg has been moved to palliative care. I’m saddened beyond belief to hear this.

Sophomore slump. This is a building year, I finally excepted it tonight. I really didn't want to, but the proof is on film.  Name a KSU quarterback that didn't have growing pains.
He  is also nursing an injury, he can't juke like be could before CU. The straight up the gut run was the only time we saw his speed flash. I think the last interception was also tied to this injury, if you watch his torso as he tries to throw on the run.

This offense has him standing flat footed in the pocket looking down 1 of 2 reads. And often (IMO) it’s a single read where the ball has to get out on the 10 yard slant or dig. To small WR’s. I didn’t see him play in HS so I can’t comment on how well he threw. But in this offense he’s missed open receivers for big plays a dozen times. AJ is not a great thrower on the run that I’ve seen and maybe that in part due to his being injured. On the run he sails a lot of throws. It’s correctable, but I don’t know if this OC is a big help.

Spivey played really well yesterday and I’m glad he finally made a few catches. That fade wasn’t thrown particularly well, but 6’4” 230 is the guy to go get it. He’d also be a great option on the slants this OC seems so in love with.

The coaching staff allowing a minute + to melt off the clock by substituting on the second to last drive was also a brilliant strategy.

This is like watching an Alex Smith drive. Spivey looks like player. Send him deep.

Avery missing Spivey for that TD. The WTF run play on 2nd down. That was some real bad football.

That was a great play by ASU’s QB.

Going to need a defensive or ST score to get it close.

I’m glad that Oakley is a large human and that pass was completed cause the safety was thinking pick 6 all the way.

Will, good luck. I’m kinda sad to see it end. Was still a great season.

That run to the Dr Pepper was the thing of dreams. That bullet to RJ Garcia in the CCG shall be forever remembered.

Kansas State Football / Re: Cats -6 against TCU!?

Also has anyone seen a game where the QBs alternated each drive the entire game? I don't think I have because it's usually done with two shaky QBs and not two pretty solid but different options

As a kid, I watched Tom Landry rotate two QB’s. In one game, he alternated them every play. Craig Morton and Roger Staubach. Morton took the Cowboys to the SB but lost to the Colts. Eventually, the Cowboys traded Morton to Denver. He led Denver to a SB. Against the Cowboys and Staubach. But Morton’s knees were shot and the cowboy front four in those days was just unreal. Lily, Pugh, Too Tall Jones and Randy White. Knocked Morton out of the game.

Anyway, that’s the only rotational QB thing I’ve ever seen. And it was more extreme than what we are currently seeing.

Good bend but don’t break stand by the D.

But the team looks like it’s running in mud.

Checked out the usual suspects on a few message boards. Quite a few upset that JD didn’t “play through” the back stiffness.
