Hey _Fan, just out of curiosity cause I'm not sure but how long has Div. 1 been 346 (or more) teams in Division I basketball, and if that's not a factor behind this? I wonder if as time goes on the proliferation of more teams at the top level have, in general, created a situation where more teams has caused a sort of watering down affect in college basketball? So yes, it has gotten worse, but mostly because there are more teams running around that create more opportunities for talent to diffuse around a ton of teams mixed with lesser talent rather than just a few. I mean, given a general stability in the size of the talent pool over time if there were less teams in Div. 1, then each one of those teams would on average more talented players (given how it is the top level of college athletics), and more talented player generally = better teams.  IDK, just a thought.

ESPN is all over Newlan's sack.  Hilarious that Snyder just pulls this one out of the blue and ESPN absolutely adores him.

He received a very solid rating with the following veal:

This is one of those players that if he were in another state would have more of a high profile on the recruiting landscape because he is big, athletic and has a high ceiling for development. Newlan is stuck in a run heavy, option oriented scheme where he is the feature guy, just not in the passing game. He is raw, but talented. He has great size, is a wonderful athlete and shows excellent speed and quickness for the position. He is one of those guys that can pull a rabbit out of a hat and make plays on the move. Passing offense is one based on quick throws, short roll outs and a lot of play-pass. Reads the defense quickly as an option quarterback wasting very little time finding the open seam and accelerating downhill. Flashes good initial quicks and can cover a lot of ground with his long stride in the open field. Shows deceptive elusiveness and displays good vision. Can break initial contact with his strong frame. As a passer, he does not always look pretty in his mechanics, but he gets the ball there with a deceptively strong and accurate arm. Lacks natural wrist snap as a passer, but gets rid of the ball quickly in the three-step game. Puts nice touch on his fade ball as well as underneath passes. Throws well on the run and does a good job improvising outside of the pocket when the original play breaks down. This is an exciting player that shows flashes of being able to take over a game, especially against this level of competition. This is a player that will only become more productive if he remains at QB with enhanced work in the passing game. He just needs reps and work with progressions. He is always going to be a threat with his legs and his arm is capable of developing into a weapon too. In the right scheme on the right team, Newlan could blossom. He is also a good enough athlete to move to another position if need be.
I mean, he's not gonna be a QB, but that is a nice read.

Agreed, bet we Tuggle him

Would they potentially do some improvements when they do phase IV of the football stadium? Or would they hold off or do it separetly? It'd make sense only because we'd already be doing major construction on the Bram in Phase III and Phase IV given the location in the press releases for Phase IV. Just curious

9432
Agreed, if we go 2-0 this week, it'll be hard not to think about possibly getting a new crystal bowl

9433
Home against the Squawks and @Flood Aggie. Should be a good indication of how good this team really is. I think they're good, but good enough?  :ohno: Let the fun begin.  :ksu: Would be cool if we could have the Honorable Judge Arthur Brown to preside on this.  :combofan:

So blessed, thanks THE ED for putting this on for us!  :emawkid:

Business travel isn't too bad, but it depends on what it is and for how long. Being young and single doesn't make long stays a hassle. I could see if one had kids, a wife, etc. it being really really taxing. Like right now my boss travels about once every week to two weeks and guy next to me travels about once every other week right now, too much for me. Right now it's nice cause it's like a get to travel about once every month or two which is a nice change of pace from being in the office. However, if travel happens frequently and back to back (as it has once or twice the past year) it can get old quick. Field assignments on the other hand are a whole different issue and while I do like them (granted, my field assignments haven't really been of long length, only about 2 weeks at a time) if they interfere with missing my first home game in 5 years it can make you pretty  :curse: Especially when the thing that goes wrong that keeps you there 3 extra days goes wrong a 4:50 pm the afternoon of the day before you're supposed to go back, oh well. Good experience nonetheless, and got to explore Durango CO for an afternoon. Also, if you travel by yourself as I did for any long period of time, you really, really end up hating eating dinner at a sit down place, never feel more lonely that being at some restaurant by yourself eating. Ended up just grabbing something quick and eating in my room, as antisocial as it sounds.

if this is legal, why haven't more bars done this?  i always just assumed rooftop patios weren't permitted.

I know that when they put in The Loft a few years back, they were hoping to have a second floor bar and there were some zoning issues I believe. Will be interesting to see how this works and if they have a bar on the patio.

plastic cups only probly

It's been a dream of a few friends of mine and my own to have basically the entire length of Moro have a second level to it with a walkway, basically a double decker 'ville, hopefully this is the beginnings of it, and in terms of things falling i'd say the best way would be to have the patios recessed from the street a few feet with a nice wall to keep drunks from falling over. but as someone said, what the 'ville needs is more bars, and I approve, and this would be another way to do it. Maybe even add an entire underground area with Mae's being the key starting point of an entire underground scene under Aggieville as well, o man.  :drink:

Grew up in Wichita, and more or less oblivious to either KU or K-State. Cared more about WSU cause of the baseball and being a baseball fan. My mom never went to college and my dad went to Montana State, so no real connection. I guess I knew more about KU than K-State since many of my friends in elementary school were hawk fans, but never really cared. Then one day a neighbor in my childhood neighborhood just out of the blue invited my dad and myself to a game in 2000 against North Texas. Never seen anything like it, thought the wabash was too cool, fell in love almost immediately, K-State won 55-10, so yeah, it had an impression on me.

9445
Unbelievable that Wooly got that many games.

Wefald  :curse:

It's truly amazing I think how we went from being pretty BA in basketball to pud so shortly. I mean, here K-State went from Elite 8 in '88, and at the time one could argue K-State was the best program to never won a title at the time, to a decade and a half of just mediocrity. While at the same time football took off under Snyder, it's almost as if Wefald just exclusively focused so much on getting football good, or the ADs during the time were so focused on making football good that bball was left to wither on the vine. Man, if we could have had those 15 or so years back...

9446
Hey THE ED, how come some of the other got credit for OU scores and I didn't? Just wondering. TIA

9447
Hopefully he's in a doubling mode (not a huge Will fan, but still would like him to do well enough to not suck) so next game at TCU scores 4, then against OU 8, KU 16   etc. but hey, a guy can dream about him not sucking, right?  :dunno:

we're going to be 2013's version of 2012 OSU, and hey, that's pretty good!

Will take

Yep!

Throw in a blow out bowl victory over some poop Big 10 team and you've got yourself nice little season right there.

Yay or nay to playing Nebraska in the Heart of Dallas Bowl?

I'll say Yay, but it will be in the BWW Bowl as we roll in the game to go 9-4 on the season

Butler was tie game with 3 minutes left.  We were drained.  Shot 39% from the field that afternoon, only 50% from FT.  Team was dog tired.
Guys, let's face it. If that dumbass ref does his job and blows his rough ridin' whistle on Denis, we win the national championship, Frank is still coach and recruiting better, and we are gearing up for another national championship run this year. It's 100% and we should just find that rough ridin' ref and give him what he deserves. And that's a good ass kicking.

Agreed, we'd played a pud Michigan State team and a Duke team that dodged a last second shot to win it. Ok, maybe we don't win it all but that 3OT game cost us a lot.
