Just as much drama in BBSing than w/ Frank. Personally, I enjoy FMs personality, and it doesn't bother me at all. WIll continue to feel this way until all our best players quit.

Obviously, some people just need to get their hands on deck. Ever hear of that one, Stan?!??

Martavious made the steal to seal the deal.

Favorite part. Should write the whole thing in this fashion, IMO.

 This, and the Scheme Doctor song in one day?! Incredible.

Cannot WAIT to see it.

That is beyond words.  :moreira:

PPs:

We had great effort for 40 minutes (no wait, 50 minutes). Could definitely tell the team was amped and ready to go. Granted, we didn't have a good offensive performance, but the involvement and effort was present, esp. in the first half, where it's been lacking.

Gip, while showing signs of being inexperienced and making some mistakes, held it together, played good minutes for a long time w/o picking up the 5th foul, and was great in the final minutes of reg. and OTs. Continue to be very impressed and excited about him.

Sprads... totally surprised when he fouled out -- guess I was not paying attention to how many fouls he committed, but he's a PP because he was the only consistent (mostly) offensive threat from our guards, and having him out hurt even more than Samuel's IMO. Didn't score much late, but also WV was playing some pretty good D as well -- didn't make a lot of mistakes.

Team defense. This goes along w/ the effort point, but it's worth noting that we played quite well defensively for most of the game. Good sign.

Martin's coaching. Thought he did overall a good job (did want him to call a TO at the end of regulation, but oh well), finding ways to exploit the zone in the OTs, with layups underneath, etc. Well coached on both sides.

NNs

Gruds' inconsistency. His inability to hit the available shots at the end cost us the game. Granted he was aggressive and kept us in it with a great lay-in in OT, but the key word is inconsistent. His shot may very well come around, but it was  disappointing to see him miss the great shot Martin got him out of the TO especially. Hard to bag on him too much... just hope for his game to get ironed out more as the season goes on.

Samuels' lack of improvement. Yeah, same ol' Samuels. Good to have on the team, no doubt, but leaving a lot of untapped potential out there, and disappointing not to see more maturity and leadership as a senior.

JO. Had a few really good plays defensively, but we obviously needed more from him.

Seriously, guys. Make layups. Please.

Jury still out

Angel. Potential, and flashes of greatness. Still early.
Diaz. Could develop into a good role player. Prolly take some time.

Summary

Really enjoyed this game, actually. I mean, very entertaining, hard-fought, JYC intensity, double OT, good coaching, etc. Was disappointed that we couldn't pull it off at the end, but thought the game really came down to WV making a number of clutch baskets, while we couldn't quite match that offensively. Tough loss, but valuable experience at this point in the season.

Gipson was clutch, having guards consistently miss is pretty much unforgivable, IMO. FTs matter if points matter.

dear acceleration man, you are not crazy just a rough ridin' respect.  fwiw

What do you call bragging about a 3-way shared Big 12 championship where the other 2 teams beat you head to head?

Personally, I'd take a BCS bowl over a 3-way "share" of the Big XII. Call me crazy, but I think it gives the program a lot more clout than a "we came in 3rd in the 1st place race" so-called "championship, that no one would respect anyway. Thus, if OU wins, OSU gets a BCS bid over us. Granted a number of scenarios can happen regardless of what happens in that game, but for BCS hopes, you definitely want OkSt.

Anyone have one / link one?

FYI -- I was able to acquire 2 great tickets from a very generous private donor who occasionally peruses this board. So thank you very much for your generosity mystery donor F.F.F.!!   :peek:  This should greatly contribute to my young son's budding sense of EMAW.

Oh, btw -- 4 of 16 on 3rd downs, lost the TOP by 4 minutes (!), and only 38 rushing yards. It's like ... destiny.

... we won a game with 121 yards or less of offense? (I assume it's happened at some point...)

TX nearly TRIPLED yards on us and we still find a way to win.

It's really weird watching our team against teams like OU, A&M, UT...I mean, you can actually see the athletic difference up and down the lineup, but we still, like, win (ya know, except OU).  I mean, we've got Voelker and Mueller out there rushing the passer....UT's got Ocho or whatever and that LB that kept destroying Klein.  It's absurd.

This is kind of where I'm at.

Complete agreement. TX athleticism and speed on D was quite impressive. Just more magic. Ton of fun.  :moreira:

Not starting an argument... just couldn't believe we stuck w/ those plays when they literally had 10 or 11 in the box... also, very surprised by the option calls instead of qb sneak when we were 1st and goal at the 2. Wondered if we were trying to protect Klein from some hits.

Oh well -- great win once again. Very very happy This has to be killing the UT fans/players. Their hate of us is awesome and has to be bordering on epic.

Nominate Doerr for player of the game. Stood in there and delivered time after time.

Thought the play calling was extremely bland against 9-10 in the box... we were determined to try and run. Put the D in the position to have to hold UT off for the win IMO. However, give UT credit, they played fast and hard on D as well.

My son's birthday is this coming Tues. (he turns 6). Would like to take him to the game for his b-day, but no tix. Looking for at least decent seats, and something fairly cheap. Anyone help me out?

Kansas State Football / KU Beatdown Video
« on: October 28, 2011, 12:50:09 PM »
One more little thing for you to enjoy and help pass the time until gametime. Had this idea for a video, and didn't know if I would end up doing it, but I decided to go ahead and throw it together. One more tribute to last week's game, but with a little different twist. Besides, since the highlight video was removed, my fellow EMAWs needed a little more enjoyment from KU week.  ;)

Here's the link (will be live in a little while -- but I'm leaving town for the weekend, so I have to post it now):

KU Beatdown

The password is "squaks2011". Pass it on to those KU fans you want to be really rude to.

This thread gives me a warm EMAW feeling. I approve (and am inclined to agree).

Kansas State Football / Re: We lose on Saturday
« on: October 27, 2011, 08:27:12 AM »
I have to say that my gut is saying loss, with the possibility of a big loss.  :frown: I won't feel too bad if we keep it single digits.

That being said... the season up to this point has been -- well, magical. I've learned that this team is not one to bet against. We always come mentally prepared, don't get rattled, and battle hard all the way. If we pull this out, it will definitely be six shades of sweetness.

75
Landthieves saying OU blocking WVU addition in order to get confy to accept both WVU and Louisville.  OU evidently using block as a way to get back to 12 rather than just hurring to add WVU and stay at 10.  As long as it doesn't back fire, I am fine with this.

They're also saying that OU, OSU, Tech, and KSU want 12, UT and Baylor want 10, KU doesn't know what they want to do (as they are scared of more BBall competition from adding Louisville and WVU), and ISU just wants the option that gives them more money, presumably to buy more sandbags.
