Title: Potuzak
Post by: justTHEtip on November 29, 2010, 09:08:34 PM
Got a hint of autism watching him hustle high step out of control out there. And the student section cheering his name didn't help matters....Was really hoping to see him throw up some kind of shot.

Potuzak and all of the racist students that chant his name are embarrassing.

Our entire fan base is embarrassing. How do we not show up for games? I don't give a shazbot! if it's Emporia State, we are a top 5 team.

Yeah, chanting his name was just as embarrassing. Did not participate.

I really get a kick out of watching him play.  He's like the basketball equivalent of CCQ and just as adorably inept.

If #31 comes in, the Cats are on the way to victory!  :emawkid:

I don't think they're racist, they just want to cheer on a white hometown freshman walkon who runs like an awkward giraffe.

Also he's white.

Except that Kent actually had a $!#* hair of talent and we hated him as much as our current student section loves this no talent ass clown. I was yelling just as loud as everyone - for a shattered femur.

Darren was fairly good. He just did not bang and preferred to shoot the three. Potuzak is tall and that's it. I feel like the students are chanting his name because he sucks which is a bit embarrassing. If you are going to put him in, why don't you put in Peterson?

I agree I don't like the 6 class system for Kansas in sports like track and cross country those sports are individual sports and everyone should be on an even playing field.  However I was a little handicapped because my highschool did not have a track so it was hard to do time trials and train.  But I don't agree that because we are from Kansas we can't be as good at track of other states is reduculouse.  Some of the best American distance runners ever came from Kansas.

I get it, I was putting the emphasis on how easy it is for someone who retains no talent can win a title in the state. Not saying phenomenal athletes don't make it out of the state because I ran with/against many who were.

I wasn't talking jtksu (cac) until you went and said he could "wipe the table with my sorry ass." At this point it wasn't clear weather we were talking about basketball or track so I then put you in a clown suit and proved that I would in fact destroy the table with his sorry ass in either.

This is getting really annoying, I've been posting for a week and I prove you wrong more than my dog take's a jtksu. For your recollection:

Waaah.  A basketball player who is smart and doesn't wear sweats all day.  Waah, jeans.  Waaah.  Get him off the team I never have a single hope to get on.

Cry more, you baby.  He's smarter (32 on his ACT), more athletic, individualistic, and has 10x the work ethic you'll ever have (growing up on a farm). 4.0 in Civil Engineering.  Let's see you try that.

Yes, he's a nerd, so am I.  What's wrong with that?

And, fyi, he was asked to redshirt this year but denied it because he's taking this year a trial run.  If K-State basketball interferes too much with studies, he's probably not going to do it.

He doesn't really see basketball as a career, he just likes playing the game.  What happened to love for a sport?  Now it's all about "40 million, please or I'm not playing"

Why is an AA sprinter talking cac on some walk-on basketball player's ability to run the mile?  Sounds like a douche.  Also, rumblings that Potusack boned his gf.

Supposedly, that dude won the 1A mile last year.  I would have loved to see him run that thing.

Winning 1A state in a tiny, unathletic state with only 3 mil douchers is not impressive. I'm pretty sure a paraplegic won the high jump too.

Who said it was impressive?  But it is funny that an uncoordinated dude like that would like wipe the table with your sorry ass.

Wow, you couldn't have played more into my hands on this! Are we talking hoops or track because all-state (in a real state) in one and all-american in the other. Either way this frankenstein isn't within 57 light years of that.

Oooh, we have an internet AA on our hands!!  This is a new one for me.  I've heard all sorts of BS on message boards but I've never heard someone pretend to be an AA!
You are an outstanding poster, please continue :bwpopcorn:

If he could find a pair of shoes that could let him run well long distance without getting blisters, he could run 10-15 with no problem.

However, his max right now is 8-9 miles before his feet turn into super blisters.  He's jealous of me (stated directly to me) because I can outrun him distance wise.

Right now, he's not distance trained though.  He's more explosive trained (basketball style rather than distance/endurance).

And Alex actually enjoys the crowd cheering for him.  It makes him smile inside nd makes him feel more comfortable on the floor.

Additionally, none of the true walkons (this year's walkons) have names on their jerseys.  This is because they had a few walkons leave and were left with unusable jerseys which costs money.

wow, i'd have thought a lot more.  i figured, marathoners generally take a bball game or so to do 26, so he'd probably be able to do 20 or so.  even with the sharp corners and whatnot.

The announcer didn't know his name at Madness in Manhattan so everybody cracked up and started chanting his jersey number.  That coupled with the fact that the fan base knows that he is by far the worst player on our team allows him to be the fan favorite.

The underdog rule.

Same reason I was the fan favorite when I played in high school.  I was by far the worst player on the team (played on Pota's team) and to see me score was a very rare thing.  I got less minutes than Alex did and rightly so.  When I scored my first points, it was a very big deal to the crowd and to my team.  They were jumping up and going crazy.

Less minutes compared to what he's getting now, rather than in HS, of course.

You must really, really suck if you were the worst player on a 1-A high school team.

I like to play basketball, I really wasn't any good.  By my senior year, I was a better than most of the Freshmen.  I know, I was bad.

I didn't bring the team down when we were struggling for players.  We only had about 12 people for Varsity and JV so at least I helped to fill up practices.  Even then, I only got about 2 minutes of game time every 2-3 games (varsity games).   I played decent defense and hustled.  I was just horrible at handling the ball and making passes.

If you hate Alex then you're a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). He's a walkon who rarely even plays one minute. If he played a lot, enough to eff up a lot, then there might be reason to hate him.

People cheer for him because he's a big underdog. His whiteness is just part of that (a small part, I think), since white people are perceived as being bad at basketball. He's a gangly, white, nerdy-looking, uncoordinated-looking, freshman walkon from Kansas. It's a perfect storm of underdog-ness. Of course people are going to cheer.

Just as a thought experiment, imagine Alex were black, but still a gangly, nerdy, uncoordinated freshman walkon from Kansas. I think he still gets big cheers. Maybe a smidge less. Just a smidge.

They wouldn't hate him, but they wouldn't cheer as much. Obviously the more underdog aspects you take away and the higher the expectations people have for a player, the more likely they are to hate him if he sucks. See: Wally Judge.

I like Alex Potuzak because he's a better basketball player than Wally Judge.  I think it's kind of a cool underdog story how a 6-11 walk on from bumb eff Kansas can have more confident post moves than a 5 star McDonalds All-American.  That, and the fact that he looks like a marionette running up and down the court.

I definitely wouldn't say he's better than Wally Judge but I think Pota has a long ways to mature.  Only then can we see his full potential.  This is the reason I believe he should have chosen to redshirt this year.

Fun would be against what goEMAW is about, which is being Debbie Downers.

Are you the guy I PI'd at the 24-hour diner in KC at like 4 in the morning after the duke game?

Assuming PI'd means 'permanently intoxicated' then, no.  I don't drink.  And I didn't go to a diner after the Duke game.

Why the hell would you assume that?

well PI fatality makes a lot of sense.

Also, i think there may be more posters here from Clifton-Clyde than people think.

Well to my knowledge, there is now two.  Royals and me.  None other than that, that I know of.  And royal's just showed up now.

goEMAW, let me explain why Alex is a hero to the student section.  He's an Everyman.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everyman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everyman)

He's there showing the guys that can't get the girls, the guys that have fun without constantly worrying about what society thinks about them, the guys that don't go out partying and sexing it up with every girl they meet, that we can accomplish something incredible.

He's a tribute to the guys who drive around the mall parking lot with the windows down blaring out Crocodile Rock, beat bumping, and singing at the top of their lungs.  (true story)

You can hate all you want, but Alex truly doesn't care.  His life and mine are fulfilling and we live each day to the most, regardless of how idiotic we look doing it.

Yah, the team and coaches call him Stix.  It's even on the practice schedule as "Stix." But he much prefers Pota, his HS nickname.

This actually bodes fairly true, at least for my area.  I know of less than 5 people in the entire school that have Twitter accounts.  They just don't get it.  They expect it to work just like Facebook/Myspace but don't realize that Twitter isn't trying to be that.  Twitter is for following people you don't know well and following things that can offer news/info that you're interested in as compared to facebook is for closer friends.

Oh, well.  Maybe they'll come around some day.

This kid has started to piss me off as we have started losing/committing NCAA violations. The last thing I wanna see is A-Pot struggling to walk to the locker room after we blow another game.

Anybody else in the same boat? :dunno:

If Potuzak cries on the court like Mario Little did after we get knocked out of the tournament, the team should just make him find his own way home.

Thinking about this Potsxizick kid, I'm getting pissed off.  He is the whole reason our bigs are soft.  He is supposed to be playing against our bigs in practice and they dominate him and think they are good.  In reallity they are getting a false sense of being good and so don't work hard.  I think we should kick this loser off the team to water boy and get the biggest meanest guy we can find to beat on our bigs in practice and knock some of this potsoluck off of them.

No insider basketball info will be given.  It's doesn't take a wacky conspiracist to believe there are chances that basketball faculty/friends/family read forums and perhaps even post in them.  This in turn could be passed to someone higher up.

It's a possibility, not saying it's a likelihood.

And yes, the CCHS superintendent (Brian Pekarek) is quite ambitious.  I can definitely understand your annoyances there.  However, he has done a lot for the school in a short time and certainly knows how to work the media.

edit: Also Alex keeps most things to himself.  I really wouldn't have anything to share and I don't really push for info.

While I agree that Alex isn't D1 material yet, he needs all the time he can get here and there to get the experience to get to that level.

I'm not saying that we need Alex as a staple, but when we're in a position for guaranteed victory, I think Frank should be throwing in the noobs more often.

We're not going to try to make him better.  Honestly, he's basically a team mascot.  He gets all the benefits that come with being on the team and even a minute of gametime here and there, that's it.  If he seriously wanted to get better, he should have went to a juco or D2 school where he could actually get some PT.

He was recruited to a few jucos but didn't want to go to a juco.  So he went fullride + kickbacks at K-State with academics.  Basketball was a pleasant surprise, but it wasn't expected until June of '10 after he had already made a decision for KSU engineering.

Our guys will regress if Potz is the big they practice against all off season.  Grab your protractor and GTFO if you love the team and want them to do well next year.  Help them on their homework if you can't fully detach.  Stay away from a BB court.
