Now that Alabama has deemed frozen embryos to be children, perhaps new avenues to the child tax credits have become available. I wonder if I can freeze up a batch of a dozen or so children and keep them in my freezer in my home, then claim them on my tax return? Additionally, I'd like to claim them on the FAFSA and qualify my non-frozen children for Pell Grants.

Downside Risk: You'd probably need to buy a really good generator (or two?) for power redundancy. If the power goes out and those children thaw, you could be prosecuted for child endangerment or murder if you didn't meet an acceptable standard of care.
-
QUESTION: You think Alabama will need to amend their Birth Certificates and instead call them Inception Certificates?
-
Mods, please move this to the Alabama thread
-
Pete if you’re running late in the morning just toss those bad boys in the passenger seat and take the carpool lane
-
How long do souls keep in the freezer? Did the court add expiration dates and guidelines?
I heard, in Europe, they don’t even keep them in the fridge, they just leave them on the kitchen counter.
Is it possible that Big IVF is in cahoots with Big Freezer?

I think all your tax breaks mentioned above are federal, Pete.

If the state issues a birth certificate I wonder if the Feds have to acknowledge it as a child?

Get a DOB and SSN and I say shoot your shot.
-
If my man Pete gets a SSN for a frozen embryo he is cooking with peanut oil on this idea

child tax credit is a pretty good one. I would have no problem getting a high end Kohler
I actually love this.
Dax what is the non-obese/stupid part of alabama?

Huntsville . . .
Noting that both of us are posting from a state that's approaching a 40% obesity rate and is also on the cusp of being a net population decline state.
-
How long could one claim an embryo as a dependent?

I would assume until they are an 18 year old human or something. Indefinitely?

Thanks, fat people gross me out.

Then the quadrangle is a very unfriendly place for that phobia

Just did a little research. oof

An Alabama 10 is roughly equivalent to a Kansas City 4

I have had a number of terrific vacations in Gulf Shores!

You should be able to claim a frozen embryo forever!
-
What about these banks where these are stored? What if some nurse drops a dish?
-
Man what if Pete ends up having to pay child support on these frozen embryos.

Well then she is a god damn murderer.

My idea would be to purchase frozen eggs from someone willing to sign a waiver, or from an estate where the mother of the frozen eggs has died with no other heirs with standing to sue me.
-
At this point this plan is still hypothetical, because my dong has been modded to shoot blanks. I’d have to return it to factory settings.

Is it possible to extract the swimmers from the source? I don't think I would want to go through the snip again

I don’t see why you couldn’t adopt a gaggle of frozen children.

You really have thought of everything
-
adopt and keep at a clinic so you really have no risk of murdering your tax deductions when the power goes out

Now we are throwing in the adoption credit. Some real tax planning happening in here.
-
I like how you guys are thinking inside the box on this one.
-
eff, I missed the adoption angle. That’s brilliant.
-
eh, why would the owner of a tax credit give it up for adoption? They are enjoying the love and comfort of that money. How much could you pay them that would still net you $$?
You are just buying their deduction, so you'd have to make it more than the deduction.
-
It’s almost like Republicans are purposely trying to give apathetic voters a reason to show up in November.

People who don't want to live in Alabama could just keep selling them to people who live there.

Yeah, buy eggs from Northern socialists and fertilize them in Alabama. Heck, some of those dirty hippie yankies might just donate them to you.
-
It’s honestly a perfect plan. The only thing that could screw it up would be if all the hospitals and clinics in Alabama just shut down their IVF programs bc they didn’t want to get sued
-
reminds me of the thought experiment: If you had time to save from a burning building either a) a freezer containing 10 million frozen embryos or b) a single toddler, which one would you choose?

toddler every time
-
Flip the script: what about 10 million frozen toddlers or a single embryo?
-
Goddammit nothing pisses me off more than people trying to make abortion talking points by using chicken eggs as an example.
Store bought eggs are not fertilized. They're a bird period. Not a baby bird. Consider them a used tampon.
-
Even if we can't get our eggs from Alabama, or fertilize them in Alabama, we could probably pay Dollar Store prices across the state line in Mississippi and then just Dukes of Hazard them back into Alabama.

Tuberville hasn't seen the light of the tax benefits yet

Is that a thought experiment to identify psychopaths? I really struggle to imagine what brand of morality would lead to carrying out an armful of embryos while a toddler burns alive.

Setting aside abortion or whatever he has in mind, what is the rationale for thinking we need more kids?
-
That's the one thing he's not necessarily wrong about. We have a population problem, but the real solution is staring us right in the face ...

There are media pubs who are pushing for big white families. Kirk, Tucker, etc. Could be repeating that talking point.
-
the GOP seems to have their finger on the pulse (not you embryos) of the population
