Did he just admit to shadow recruiting?
-
No one laughed at his Louis joke.
-
I probably wouldn't laugh at jokes if I were attending a meeting where my new coach who's never seen me play was telling me how much I suck, either.
-
Did he just admit to shadow recruiting?
I don't know what shadow recruiting is but I think it's a given that some of his players are coming with him, especially given one of them is his son who is already in the portal.
-
Anyway, this video is total horseshit, I'm very certain this resonates with the barstool crowd. What he very quickly will discover is that he can't bully the Pac 12, like he did the SWAC without building depth. He can bring his own "luggage" all he wants but that roster is shallow and he's going to need some of those guys he's shitting on to build that program.
-
His path is more like Harbaugh than Prince but didn't Ron always say he wanted a "smart, tough, disciplined football team that consistently competes for championships"?
-
LMAO in the long one he says how there won't be any hats in his meetings (while wearing a hat)

Holy crap at the end he does "smart - fast - tough - disciplined - with character"
-
The AD was asked where they got the money to hire him, and said “we don’t have it yet, but I’m confident we will”
That doesn’t exactly scream huge NIL warchest in their collectives if they are putting the coaches salary on layaway

LOL at the camera and mic guys.
Did the first player he asked “is that you?” say “no, sir”?
-
this will be a fascinating marriage , after Cal i would say Colorado has the faculty and community most hostlie to football in the P5. :bwpopcorn:

I’m sure he’ll get a couple big name recruits, but this definitely feels like a situation where you take a bad team, get them ok enough that everyone sings your praise, then bolt to a better gig

Also him reading that speech off of his phone doesn't exactly connote sincerity.

It’s going to be fascinating to watch this.
Colorado has really updated their facilities. So he’s good there.
The Cal-UCLA-USC institutional mindset of pretending to keep athletics at arms length from the academic mission permeates through CU as well.

Its always been about Dion. No one else. Those kids are smart enough to do a little research and once they figure out (a) that he didn't like to hit, (b) didn't like to practice and (c) always, always, always made it about him, regardless of the team, they won't run through walls for him, unless there's one between them and the nearest portal.
-

He told his last team this directly and will tell this one the same. At least he is being honest about it I guess. I give this 3 years max. I'm shocked that people like Feldman are talking about how this is going to be amazing. Its going to be a disaster.
-
Sounds like the just kicked off an NIL collective and got the school to relax requirements for entrance for transfers. That should boost recruiting.
-
I think he accomplished a great deal in regards to bringing attention (and high level recruits) to HBCU's. For him to bail for more exposure and more money seems a bit hypocritical but let's be honest - none of that crap matters in major sports. If he wins there all will be good.
-

I agree.
My Colorado friends were very confused when I told them he needs those players (most for multiple years) because he simply can't bring in 85 new scholarship players in year one.
They honestly thought he could turnover the entire roster before next season.
-
Imagine the open tryouts for Boulder walk ons to help them even practice... my god

He is no more or less hypocritical than any coach that leaves a program. IMO the guys like Chadwell whose primary story is "God told them to take the job' are way worse but that's picking nits as really they are all money and ego-driven hypocrites.

Exactly. I mean, Hugh Freeze got hired AGAIN. LOL!

I'm pretty clear that I think he's a bit of a fraud, but hiring a sitting head coach for his OC is pretty amazing.

He didn't bring any additional attention to HBCUs, at least nothing at all tangible. He did a little tiny bit for bringing a bit more exposure to the SWAC, but if you ask people today talking about Deion what conference Jackson State is in, most couldn't tell you if you spotted them the S and the W. He did bring exposure to Jackson State but it's going to leave with him and not have any kind of a legacy.
To be clear, I'm fine with him not doing anything for any other entity other than Jackson State football and Prime Inc. but I don't, at all, love many white people giving him credit for doing anything other than helping himself. Like rusty said, he's no different than most FBS college football coaches, he's no HCBU savior.
-
Deion is like the prosperity pastor of football coaches.
-
The way some national media are in love with this move leads me to think it is not going to go well. Usually these "slam dunk" hires don't go well.

If he can recruit and manage a roster he'll do fine. I don't see why he can't do that.
Might take some time though

I think the toughest thing is going to be getting a decent OL/DL. I think he will be able to nab quality skill players almost immediately.

I think the national media are in love with this because they know there will be plenty of good quotes and some drama for them to cover.
It will be interesting to see if he can manage a roster in today's portal environment. I have a feeling that his way (no hats in meeting as wearing a hat) will not sit well with a large group of players.
-
The whole thing is cringe. I watched the 15min+ video of the AD giving "Prime" the tour of facilities. It was definitely set up for TV. Deion was wearing sunglasses indoors the entire time.
I also get why CU took the gamble as they need immediate improvements, especially if the PAC 12 is on the verge of collapse. If he has success he will be gone in short time.

Did you guys know Deion had his left big toe and second toe amputated and some chunks taken out of his left leg like a little over a year ago? A series of blood clots on the femoral artery caused compartment syndrome. That's why he was walking with a limp in that facilities tour video. I vaguely recall him riding around on a scooter thingy, but never looked into the reason why.
-

Mr. Prime will not be coaching in 2027 or 2028 for the Colorado Buffalos. I'd bet the farm on that one.

Prime will either be fired or on to bigger things by then.

Watched some of this too and was legitimately impressed with their facilities.

How long do you guys think this will last until Amazon sends him a C&D letter?
-
If he wins big, FSU/UF/UM will go after him.
If he doesn't in big it will probably be a disaster.
If it's in between, lots of 5-8 win seasons, they are over paying.
-
How long do you guys think this will last until Amazon sends him a C&D letter?
He trademarked "Prime Time 21" in 1996. Dude really is a savvy businessman.

Damn. He should send a C&D to Amazon.
-
Every time I see this thread title I think it's about CK7 and that he's left for the head-coaching job at Alabama.
CK7 is Optimus Prime.
Deion is Prime Time.
I believe this is a pre-emptive strike by Deion to prevent CK7 from becoming *the* Coach Prime.
-
“It was hectic,” Mott said. “It was a huge mess. I actually never got contacted by Deion or any of his new (on-field) staff. I got called. They told me that coach Deion didn’t want to honor my commitment and hung up the phone.”
-
Sounds like Mott got C&D'd.
-
I figured he would be a spectacular flameout, but hiring Sean Lewis was very impressive. Kent State's offense has been very good. Alabama guy i've never heard of coaching defense. If he let's those guys cook (and if he can recruit and somehow put together a passable roster as far as depth goes) he may have something.
OTOH, they may be James Franklin and Raheem and bolt immediately and the Prince parallels may become even more poignant.
-
If only we had some data points on assistant coaches working under Deion as a head coach

I said earlier that Deion is the Prosperity Pastor of college football coaches. I don't know enough about him to make that claim and it's a pretty disparaging thing to say if untrue. I think he has the unique gifts and acumen to do great things in his role as leader of a football program.
I do think that he struggles with pride and vanity tho, and if he doesn't succeed, that will be his undoing.
I'm rooting for him and hope that he is able to overcome his faults, because if he can, he will build something very special and impact a lot of young men, as well as the community around Boulder and others across the country.
-

oof, if true. good point ww
-
I totally believe everything that this random twitter fellow says
I've seen multiple reports saying the same thing, the only difference is the not hearing from Deion's staff. The other reports I saw were that someone from the staff called, said they wouldn't be honoring the scholarship agreement, then just hung up.
I fail to understand how people are making this Deion's fault though. The AD promised these dudes scholarships before Deion even thought about Colorado. Deion takes the job, then the AD allows Deion to have control over his roster, like every other college sports coach has.
The AD is the clear villain here. He promised these dudes scholarships so they had enough players to finish the year and get the football money, the season ended and he said sike.
-
Does anyone even know the standard protocol for this sort of thing in big-time college football? I know I don't.
Like, are head coaches typically all calling up former recruits and breaking the bad news?
-

the note specifically called out "on-field staff" - in the one article I read, the recruit got a call from a recruiting coordinator.
I don't blame Deion at all for this either

When there's a coaching change, do you really think the head coach is calling players who are cut? They don't even know those dudes.

Yeah prob not.
All things considered, the dude has his faults, as we all do. His faults, and being a black dude with said faults, makes a lot of people want to run him down imo.
-
Yeah, I'm not a fan at all but there have been so many bad Deion takes, I find myself defending him, probably too much.

I think I saw the same article referencing one kid's twitter who got his offer pulled. This seems like a pretty normal thing (right or wrong) when there is a coach change. I think, at worst, it sounds like it could have been handled a little more professionally from the recruiting coordinator but probably not that big a deal.

i saw adam hopkins committed to cu. 4 star wr on rivals before, now dropped quite a bit below spivey. i guess things worked out ok!

Me neither. But I'm surprised and impressed to hear you say that!
-
I don't like it. The proper thing to do would be to dismiss him in a private office meeting if that was the last move. I don't see how humiliating him in front of 100 of his peers will make him trust the "family" or future family or anyone for that matter. Great for TV, though. It got us talking about it.

Plus the split vote of the team. Besides what you said, you only vote - put the team on the spot like that - if you know the outcome is going to be completely one sided, nearly unanimous. There's about twenty or thirty guys who left that room wondering if they just got their first "strike"
-
What's the background here?
I'm guessing the players knew but that still seems like a bullshit way to handle it
-
Yeah, I’ve been around player votes like that before, but never with the player in the rough ridin' room.
-
Man, eff that grandstanding bullshit. I don't care what that player did, having your scholarship pulled is a life altering moment. For him to do it like that, on camera, then releasing the footage, is rough ridin' foul.
This is the similar bullshit that Gregg Berhalter did you Go Reyna, but at least Gregg had the decency to not do it on camera and release the footage.
I truly don't know how anyone could see that and send their son to play for that man, but we know the cult of celebrity has a strong pull in our culture.
That's gross, and I'm legit angry about it.
-
I'm sure plenty of parents applaud that type of display
-

From a college football coach, yeah. I bet those same parents sure in the eff wouldn't want their workplace run like that.

I don't want to burst your bubble because I agree with you. The company I work for had HR management meetings that I was required to attend. At one of them, they discussed several types of management styles that were used by businesses, and one of them was to evaluate your work by members of your team. Your pay was tied to it and in some cases your employment. Thank god we didn't have it take effect for more than a few months, as it was crap-canned.
-
that’s terrible. deion should pick on someone his own size and watch what happens. that kid didn’t ask, nor deserve, to be humiliated like that.

Agree
eff Prime and promoting his brand at the expense of humiliation of that kid. Don’t care what he did, that is a bitch move. Any “family” God fearing preaching adult with a sense of respect and decency doesn’t go down that road. I initially just wanted to see lackluster results after the announced Buffs hire, now I hope he fails miserably and is run out of town. Hey, maybe it is just my Friday night bourbons talking…..🤔 nope eff Prime!

Its also a chickenshit way to skirt accountability as a leader. There are times when a group vote like that is a great idea to quell squabbling and move on from an issue but something that important you don't appeal to a 51% majority to make the decision. Did you hear how he kept saying "They voted, you're out" like he had no control on the situation. What a dirtbag.
-
What was the whole thing with some people in red shirts and some in blue? Seemed like the red shirts voted to keep him and the blue shirts voted to kick him off the team.

text below is a deleted tweet by the kid that was kicked off - seems like Deion choose to make an example of him as Pope appears to be fast but not a great reciever
No disrespect to anyone but, it’s 3 sides to every story. Mines, theirs and the truth. So I’m going to tell mine. I’m going to start by saying I never disrespected ANYBODY such as my coaches, teammates, and anyone else within the building. I have NEVER been a bad kid to be labeled as a “cancer”. Moreover, July 5th was my very first day going to Jackson. I went up there to practice with the team and I was not enrolled nor did I have a physical to even practice but, they still threw me out there and I ended up getting hurt, which was not my fault. I came back to Jackson in august around camp due to me still finishing my class at UM. I missed my first week of camp due to my injury. First game they didn’t take me to travel for no reason whatsoever. When I entered the transfer portal first game I was let back on the team the following week and this was the only chance I was given. I never needed “2” or “3” chances because I never did anything wrong to ask for another chance. After letting me back onto the team coach Prime himself vouched for me to play Grambling state game. Moving forward I never was able to get any reps in practice for NO reason at all! They never gave me a full drive in a game. They would give me at the most 3 plays. Moral of the story I was never give a CHANCE!! because of this I stated “F*** this s*** I’m ready to go home”, which resulted in me being kicked off the team. I never spoke down about the JSU “Family” nor did I speak harmful to anyone on this team. I’ll end it with this!! Overall I’m still grateful for the opportunity that was given to me thanks coach Prime. 🙏🏾

Coach Prime and his boys started rough ridin' with him after getting him to drop the portal. He had no chance of redeeming himself and was made into an example of what happens to players jumping the program.

I wonder, is the problem that he THOUGHT it, or the problem that he SAID it? I have no problem with either thing he said.
He never commented on the race of the player, yet all of the comments under the tweet seems to imply that he did. :frown:

Unfortunately we live in the world of the Pit.
He didn't explicitly mention race, but how often have you heard someone discussing a white player mention the number of parents at home? It's like calling the player "well spoken".
Also even if the D-lineman with a single mom is white, there's something gross about explicitly wanting someone desperate for a certain position. And the laughing feels cringey

I get it. He’s obviously exaggerating though. No one on earth who understands football thinks that Prime is going to turn down a single mother 5 star QB or a honor student DT.
-
Nor is he really thinking of those factors within the top handful of features when watching recruiting film or attending HS games and camps.
Zero chance he watches a beautiful spiral and says “HOW MANY PARENTS?!?” Zero chance he watches two blocks get eaten up and pushed 5 yards deep and says “IS HE POOR?”
-

all of this will always be about deion, nothing more and nothing less. the man has always had a giant ego and always will. he says these things to get the attention.
-
For selfish reasons I hope good players in Colorado don't like what they hear and come to K-State instead.
K-State already got a commit from a pretty highly rated QB out of Colorado. As an aside, this getting commits out of highly rated to very highly rated QB's every recruiting class is just some kind of voodoo magic.

Don't know if you did it on purpose or not, but you just made the perfect argument as to why it was really stupid for him to say that. He's feeding silly stereotypes, without even getting into the obvious dog whistles. I would sincerely hope that he doesn't actually think that poor kids can't be smart enough to be quarterback and smart kids can't be tough enough to be a d-lineman.
I'm not sure why you're willing to give him credit for not acting on the way he thinks. He's literally don't nothing to prove that he doesn't act on those thoughts. It's not like it would be wild for a football coach to think like that. We read and see stories every single year, around draft time, about NFL scouts and front office personnel who have that mentality. We've seen and heard a lot of problematic things and thought processes from Deion, you can give him the unearned benefit of the doubt if you want to, I won't.
-
all of this will always be about deion, nothing more and nothing less. the man has always had a giant ego and always will. he says these things to get the attention.
Bingo
At what point does him saying things and behaving in ways in which a piece of crap would before it stops being about him doing things for his brand and it's just him being a piece of crap?

I don’t have any problem saying he’s a piece of crap, I think that’s a fair statement.
-
he's 100% a piece of crap, i don't think that's up for debate.
-
I agree with you guys.
-
It's too bad he didn't simply say "We need smart guys for QB, but we don't really care how smart our DT's are."
-
I don't even think you need smart QBs, in the book smart sense anyway. "They" say the smartest guys on the field are the offense linemen.

Totally agree. Many, many different types of intelligence. Most people incorrectly assume that verbal communication skills indicate intelligence in all areas of life. Lots of people can put together very sophisticated plans and execute complex tasks fast without being able to easily string two sentences together in a conversation.

qbs don't even have to make any plans, just listen to coaches. not really any problem solving is needed, i'd guess they just need to be good at memorizing, learning how to read and react, and not freak out under pressure. definitely not easy, but seems way more about effort and experience than intelligence.
-
Yeah I think being a good QB requires a lot of things happening very quickly between the ears. But I don't think that type of intelligence necessarily translates to being a great student or anything.
-
if a qb is even thinking while a play is going on their ass is getting blasted
-
Prime Time's comments sounds like something Bear Bryant would have said to John McKay in private over cocktails after a round of golf in 1971.

I mean those terms in a way that is not quite so literal. I am saying that they need the cognitive power to understand a great many things very quickly. Lots of if-then statements.
I do believe that requires rapid planning (down and distance alternatives, audibles, etc.) and improvisation skills. Those are all types of thinking and types of intelligence.
Though, obviously you can compensate if you have very high abilities in other areas (e.g. arm strength, speed, agility, etc.).

It's like reality TV, but for some reason they gave him actual authority.
I think it's going to be entertaining watching them crash and burn. I hope they beat nubs though.
-
I don't think he'll crash and burn because he's getting good players. He was pretty good at Jackson State.
-
He's 100% correct. If a player gets manhandled like that the other 10 guys on his side shouldn't be walking off.
-
Standard football stuff. Prime doesn’t mean go in there throwing. He’s saying don’t walk away like it’s none of your business. That’s your brother, and you better go help him.
In this case it’s teammates, so everyone should be over breaking it up.

Not really the same, other than the dugouts clearing whenever there is dust up.
-
My high school baseball coach made a point to let everyone know that if there ever was a fight and you stayed in the dugout, you were off the team. Not that you had to go throw fists or something, but you had better be out on the field.

It's nothing. Some people just get really emotional about Deion.

I think he's pretty clearly morally wrong there. If he's going to correct behavior, he should have instead addressed the kids who fought or were willing to fight.

I'm sure he did, just didn't get caught on camera.

I sure hope he wins his appeal, his story is crushing. I seen to remember having an off-season discussion with someone on this board about Colorado's terrible line depth and that person, whomever he was, just completely brushed me off. That poster would probably take exception to your thought that losing one lineman, a fcs transfer at that, is crushing.

I feel real good about my predicto about them being good at the skill positions but their lines and overall depth are going to be a real problem. He's going to be able to build that depth though and he's going to get players.

They will be the kentucky of college football. Great talent but they aren't going to have a ton of guys who are 4th and 5th year guys that are talented and have been in the program long enough.
Their offense/defense won't have the chance to evolve a lot without guys having been in and grown up in the system. Once the film is out, I think they'll have a tough time adapting to really well coached and senior laden teams.
I'm also never sold on southern guys in cold climates.

I'm basing it on the fact that he's doing something unprecedented. I don't think that it will be a bastion of roster stability.
-
what was unprecedented (I guess) was the one year change. I don't know why you'd expect that to happen every year. How was his roster stability at Jackson State?
-
I doubt he plans to clean house every year with his own guys. He essentially did what Tang and lots of other bball coaches have been doing in their year one recently. Crazy to think early returns show it can be possible in football.
I wonder how much turnover there was at UCF between George O’Leary’s last team (0-12), and Scott Frost’s first (6-7). Of course Frost went 13-0 the next season before bolting for Nubb.
O/u on how long a successful Prime stays at CU? Prob 3.5 Vegas line?
-
You'd think that turning over a complete roster, mainly through the transfer portal, would make for a very old roster but that somehow only have 1 senior. Now they have 20 grad transfers, which is insane, but as long as he's able to get 25 high school students in the 2024 class his class balance should be very good considering the turnover he had.

CSU coach gets passive-aggressive (correct term?) about Coach Prime’s glasses n chains. Prime gets wind of this and goes full MJ “I took that personally” mode.

It took me a second to tie it together, but he (the CSU coach) coached Nevada when they came in MHK a few years ago.
I feel like maybe he said some stupid crap after our game or he was really complimentary for him to stick out? Maybe he was just goofy AF on the sidelines... But I've drank a lot since then to remember exactly

Norvell was fine when Nevada came to Manhattan. He did get a 15 yarder for yelling at the refs, but he didn't say anything about Manhattan.
I think bulletin board material is overrated as hell. That being said, I have no idea what Norvell was trying to accomplish with those comments. I also think it's corny for one FBS black head coach to talk crap about another one for no reason at all. There are so few of them, it really should be a small fraternity of guys looking out for each other.

Gone are the days when most players could be motivated by fear. Today’s athlete generally still needs their coach to be demanding, but it’s probably more important that they know their coach believes in them and has their back.
Players will run through a brick wall for this type of coach. KSU is lucky imo to have two staffs full of them. Basketball for sure. I’m also sure Prime has some “bad guy” coaches on his staff.
I read somewhere about Prime being very egotistical and chasing ego. I don’t really see him that way. I think he is supremely confident — not fake and cocky — and that he has an abundance to offer. And he should be like that, he’s been one of the best in the world at anything he’s done.

Having lived in Colorado for a decade, it's amazing to see so many people on my socials that have never thought twice about CU or CSU football have some very confident takes about players and plays from that game.
It appears this is a trend across the country as well. Some steamin hot takes on both sides.

The Prime memes remind me of a thread of parody posts about Duke basketball from back in the day.
They would go something like this:
Billy Packer: And now look on the replay. Watch the way the Duke players hydrate during a timeout. Look at how they drink that water. Just the right amount. That attention to detail is exactly why Duke University maintains an edge over their opponents.

Dan Lanning is such a dumb rough ridin' meathead. It's very weird that he's so obsessed with Deion Sanders. Having a pregame speech focused on the opposing coach, when he's not said a damn thing negative about your team is the same energy that the hayseeds had in our stadium who cheered tonight when they announced the Colorado Oregon score. I mean I get off from Joe Seed Salesman from Sabetha, funny when it's a coach though.
-
I get your point, but it’s tough to argue with the results. It just seems like a different version of bulletin board material for the kids.
-
I get your point, but it’s tough to argue with the results. It just seems like a different version of bulletin board material for the kids.
Bulletin board material? It's contrived stupidity and actual good teams don't need to do this dumb crap. Colorado was overmatched, always were, always going to be. This is the same shithead that carried them irrelevant two months ago. There's not a person in the world who thought Colorado was going to win this game. All of Lanning's talk was simply about paint being envious, nothing else. If it wasn't obvious before, how about now?

He's about to play a whole lot of teams that have gotten more attention than Oregon this season, including the Heisman Trophy winner. I'm guessing he won't be as willing to run his mouth.

Isn't Lanning from Kansas? Our energy is in his blood

As big a Prime guy as I am (prob top 10% pro Primr bbs posters in the USA), and as much fun as it is to laugh at hayseed fans celebrating CU’s whippin, this is really nothing from Lanning.
Coaches will use anything and everything to get their kids to play with an edge. Lanning seems to be a big disrespect/us against the world type motivator. Oregon being Oregon makes the comments about flash seem hollow to fans, but ge obviously wants his program and players to be nasty, tough and vengeful.
He’ll probably play the disrespect card all season.
Also thought Prime handled the loss with grace, responsibility and humility. He’s great.
-
I hope that CU gets pummeled the rest of the way.
It has nothing to do with prime or this weird fixation on what coaches say in their pregame speech and everything to do with knocking that obvious recruiting machine down a peg or two.
I did LOL a little at some of the hype Fox was putting into next weeks CU-USC game. But USC wasn't all that impressive last night.

If you think that all coaches motivate their players by talking about other coaches you're the naive one, boss. You think Nick Saban wasted 2 seconds talking about Lane Kiffin before kickoff and at halftime? Man, I can hear Chris Klieman tearing the paint off the walls of the locker room spitting bars about Gus Malzhan. He's jealous, it's nothing more than that.
He's also a hypocrite. If any coach in the country shouldn't be talking about substance over style it's the University of Nike, particularly when he invited ABC's cameras into the locker room to do so. He needs to focus on breaking Utah's streak of conference championships instead of getting chesty against the 8th best team the conference.

They'll struggle to make a bowl, for sure. I hate Colorado, have for decades and that isn't stopping more. I'm not the biggest Prime fan either but people are being way over the top in trying to knock them down a peg. People are now actively calling this dude and his program a fraud, it's pretty ridiculous and there's no precedent for a coach and a program receiving so much vitriol after three games.
-
I really like Prime as a coach. I've read some things about his school in Texas that make me question his integrity, but "college football coach" is a job that doesn't seem to require much of that.
-
I like Prime's flashiness and the way he uses the media and how upset he makes his haters but I don't like things like the way he voted that kid off the team at Jackson State or how he treated incoming CU players and recruits.
-
Pre-maga gottlieb would’ve been good too.

I use it for some of the teams I coach. Disrespect is a massive motivator. I prefer the Tang style, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
“You wanna know what they think about you? Nothing. They don’t. They been beating teams with <insert team name here> on the front the uniform for years. They don’t think they have to bring it today. They don’t respect you.
Now let’s go win a damn fight!”
Above is obv not tang style.

There's a 0% chance you don't understand the difference between Lanning motivating his players to play Coach Prime and Chris Klieman motivating his players to play Gus Malzahn.
-
I’m a layperson. I have zero idea how common this type of pre-game trash talking is. Is this a perfectly normal amount?
Yeah me either, and it's kinda cathartic to see that happen, but it also makes me hate both sides of this (Oregon and Colorado). Trash talk is perfectly fine, but to then record it, and make it part of a response just seems like talking things that happen on the field and making it so everyone gets to yuck it up. Keep it to the players/on the field.
It's also totally something unique to the last 10 years of social media, and zero crap you'd ever hear about throughout the entire existence of organized sports I'm sure. I'm sure this happens to a degree on every game, it's just how much you wanna air out dirty laundry to the press. Just seems excessive, but I'm sure to reach recruits you gotta do it.
-
If you pound the opponent as thoroughly as Oregon pounded Colorado, I'm perfectly fine yucking it up after. I don't have a problem with Prime/Colorado, but they've had a Gameday and soon-to-be three Big Noon Kickoffs (whatever that's worth) for winning 3 games, the other team should absolutely enjoy rubbing their noses in it. I'm also generally pro-pettiness in college sports as that's what makes for good rivalries/matchups.
CFB is better when Prime buys his team sunglasses to show up CSU and when Oregon dominates then dogs Colorado.

Well we have that in common because there's a 0% chance you know what I know. There's also a 100% chance that I've heard and seen Deion and Saban speak about this multiple times. The quotes were there for you to find too, probably should have taken 5 seconds to look before you hopped on my nuts and make me the subject of this conversation.
“Even when I played, everybody thought I talked,” said Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer. “I never talked (negatively about opponents). I just really had a good time with the media, and I talked about me. I never spoke of my opponent. You can’t find one clip of me ever speaking negatively or about my opponent, period. I don’t believe in that. I don't condone that.”
Herbstreit noted a unique policy Saban has that again puts him in a class by himself from other programs.
“If you really look at Nick Saban objectively, how can you not appreciate not just the greatness, recruiting and development, but how many times did you watch Alabama trash talk Ohio State during that game? They don’t do it,” Herbstreit said on the latest episode, per 247sports. “I even asked him on that call (after the game) … ‘I don’t tolerate it. I tell them when they show up, and in practice, that we don’t talk to the opponent. That’s our one rule when it comes to that. You aren’t allowed to talk to your opponent.’ And if you watch Alabama, they don’t just beat you. They do it in a way that is respectful.”
Yeah, I guess I don't know for a fact that Klieman didn't talk crap about Malzahn, but I'm real comfortable that he didn't.

Be interesting to see how the rest of the season shakes out for them. Pretty awesome what he's accomplished already and getting 18 to mid 20 years old's to buy in is big time

For Saban perfect case in point is after the Texas game last year him getting on his players for the horns down. I just don't think he has the time or care to trash talk, I think he views winning as enough
-
I don't know. I think Colorado has brought a lot of this public spectacle on themselves. I think publicizing the pregame speech is a bit much from Oregon, but I barely care about it one way or the other.
Sanders has been a pretty fun heel this season, so none of it from anyone's side really offends me much.

Not entirely applicable, but it’s a common move among journalists to phrase assertions in the form of a question, especially in headlines and sub-headers.

Not at all applicable here because we have no idea if those people are forcefully arguing the affirmative, mocking the talking point, or are having a balanced discussion about it. It's a title of a spaces conversation without zero context.

Come home, Dylan. You deserve more touches.

From what I've seen in a few CU games, Edwards isn't capable of much between the tackles. His elite skill is speed so he has to get to the edges or get a catch out of the backfield in space.

Whoa. Nobody is capable of much between CU's tackles. Their OL is horrible. Still averaging 4.6 ypc and 9.6 ypr with that OL though. Sanders has been sacked 34 times this year. In comparison, Will Howard has been sacked 8 times.

I didn't mean it as much of a knock on Edwards. He's a true freshman so I don't expect him to be elite at everything at this level. The other RB tends to do better between the tackles and gets a majority of those carries. Edwards will likely do better in there once he's had more time in the weight room.
I do agree that the CU O-Line sucks but there are a lot of other reasons for CU's sack numbers. They've attempted 50% more passes, they hold the ball longer when they do pass (couldn't find a stat on this), and I've seen speculation that they're trying to pad Sander's passing stats by not throwing it away (seems unlikely).
I'm very pro Dylan Edwards transferring to K-State. We saw what Ward's speed combined with the defense keying off Johnson's run game can create. Edwards would be even better.

Isn’t Lewis the guy that everyone thought was a steal for this staff?

I totally forgot about Shurmur. Wild that he ended up as an analyst at a lowly PAC school.

Yes - his offenses were very good at Kent State (even if his teams weren't) and he quit his head coaching gig there to be Deion's OC.

Damn, tough way to FAFO

This is the first move Deion has made that seems foolish to me.

Other than Stanford, there is nothing remotely surprising about the second half of their season. People spending the entire summer talking about how bad Colorado was going to be then flexing when they lost to a bunch of ranked teams is weirdo behavior. If anything it should be people like my guy @wetwillie, who acted like they didn't have severe line issues, should wear this one.
-
Now that they’re not annoyingly overrated, I enjoy watching CU games. They’ve got some electric athletes and the overall attitude seems pretty fun.

Yep. If they can recruit or transfer in some good line talent on both sides, they could actually be pretty good.

Not sure why I'm catching strays but I agree their schedule has gone pretty much according to plan minus the Stanford game.

Sucks for them that they lost to Stan. That was their bowl eligible opportunity. Gonna have to pull a true upset now.

yeah name a bigger story or person who made a more significant impact on a community.
-
Probably the biggest story in sports this year. Despite only getting 4 wins, that's still a huge improvement for the program too.
-
Colorado Entertainer of the Year or perhaps even Colorado Non-Profit Fund Raiser of the year seems like a more accurate award to me.
Sportsmen of the year typically implies sports achievement, doesn’t it? If it doesn’t, I would have selected Yormack ahead of Prime.
-
"Influencer" of the Year?
"Hype Man" of the Year?
"Snake Oil Salesperson" of the Year?
If only there was a magazine for such things... wait, Rolling Illustrated/SportsStone is on it!

NDSU goes to Colorado Fall of 24, gonna lay a whooping on his dumb ass.
-
Oh, okay. Maybe find a coach first.

These Colorado games are so crazy

Impressive. However, for Colorado in that list after the USC game. I’m actually impressed people tuned into to that because the week prior Colorado got blown out by Oregon.
-
Such a clown...
Deion Sanders asked for investigation of son's bankruptcy case: Here's what we found
“I want you to do this for me,” the Pro Football Hall of Famer said then. “I want you to do your homework and do a whole investigation on that and then write that. I mean the whole complete investigation on what truly happened.”
As a result, USA TODAY Sports found that at least five agencies or institutions with access to witnesses and evidence in the 2015 case made conclusions about it – Dallas police, Shilo’s school, an insurance company, Texas child protective services and a civil court in Dallas. None of them favored Shilo Sanders, now a standout safety for his father at Colorado.
Another odd twist is that Deion Sanders initially told the agency’s investigator, Jordan Ham, that he didn’t suspect Darjean used excessive force in restraining Shilo and that he thought Darjean handled the situation appropriately, according to court records. He said so 12 days after the incident in the presence of his attorney, according to Ham. But Deion Sanders later disavowed that, saying he didn’t witness the incident and couldn’t have known.

As a band nerd I find this appalling.

I love how that article clearly states that the
Deion told the band not to play the fight song for Shedeur's song then when Colorado released a statement clearly calling the claim BS, they post the tweet then acts as if the tweet confirms the BS they're peddling.

Ugh, again. Going to BYU redux aren't we in this one. Hopefully it's not flukey this time.

This is a Prime example of the schedule makers not doing us any favors.
I like the window for my personal viewing but I do not like it for my roady Cats.
