I'm prob the Chipotle one w/ a mix of the one above.
-
I voted for the second option but really think I am probably more 3rd option. That’s my bad.
I was hoping this was going to be mask fashion.
I currently have a 2 team rotation between my crip blue bandana and my subzero black ninja mask. Going to maybe add in a Palestinian kufiya if I can figure out how to wrap it better.
-
Sorry brother, I was in between too. Bad at making polls, I guess.

I have like 10 crappy surgical type masks. I have one for each day of the week.
-
Yeah I don’t venture out much. I don’t cover up at drive thru.
-
I love to wear a bandana bandit style. Looks good. Also looks good around neck when pulled down.

If I were to vote this probably would be very close to my thinking although after a couple of beers I might sometimes think #4 as well. Thanks bqqie!!

I've got a rainbow dozen coming from Amazon to be a woke fashionable ascot as well. I'm a def #3 in the poll. Other times seems silly based on the reasoning to wear a mask.
-
Even if you didn't think masks help, now that they're a thing, at a minimum it's an opportunity to rock a new fashion accessory. I already have a Sonics mask and have Beastmode, Thursday and Publix ones en route. I'm sure some samaritan/grifter has already thought to make and sell Q masks.
I've since got a 2nd Sonics and have a Taking Back Sunday coming.
-
I had to go to the eye doc yesterday and was forced into one for about 20 minutes.
Can confirm answer #4 is the correct answer.

I tried doing this with some new handkerchiefs I have, but they're too small or my head is too big. My mom made everyone a couple masks. The ear loops are a pain in the ass because they keep loosening up, but I make them work.
-
I would like to change out of the bandit bandana, where can I buy something more permanent? What I saw on Amazon is just Chinese crap
-
Here they're required to go into businesses here but not required outside. Still, I see a lot of people wearing them outside. I just go ahead and wear one if I see a lot of people outside wearing them. I'm not at all worried about transmission to or from a jogger outside, but I don't want to either start a confrontation or make someone uncomfortable at this point. Wearing one in your car is dumb (although not a bad idea if you're at a drive thru).

I tried a skimask/neck warmer and they aren't convenient, like at all.

I think I would have went batshit crazy during this time if I was single. I use to live for the weekend/filly chasing. T's & P's, single bros. Hope your mask game is strong.

I had a 3 pack of N95's that I bought last fall for use while doing some painting.

I don't think masks are required for Tinder.

Fair, but you probably shouldn't be hanging out with randos at this time. I'm sure ZOOM'ing can be fun tho.

I made mine, I'm a shitty at sewing, but it came out it good. My hax? Use a pipe cleaner on the top to make it wrap around the bridge of your nose and conform to your face.

I made another mask from the same old ksu shirt I made the first one. I still have enough of that survival straps stuff to make like 1000 more masks.

At least the one I was wearing was pretty tight, and if you're doing it right it's kind of hard to move it up and down all the time without touching the mask all over (including inside a bit) and your face. This isn't that important if your hands are always sanitized, but it takes a lot of sanitizing to keep your hands clean every time you touch something.
That is assuming that you don't want to get the virus and believe it can infect you from being on your mask.

I'm with you here bookie. This idea of a "new normal" just doesn't make sense to me. Like, people just aren't (and shouldn't) going to be making these drastic lifestyle changes because of a really communicable and pretty deadly disease. I'm cool with a temporary normal, but eventually people are going to just go back to being people. I mean, look at the trashcan body thread. Heart attacks, obesity, liver disease and cancer have been around for awhile.
Will most people be more mindful of being around others when they get sick? Sure. Will most people do a better job of keeping their hands clean? Yeah.
Are people going to be sitting down at restaurants and whatever wearing masks and moving them up and down all the time for eternity, while never getting within less than a few feet of each other? Good grief I hope not.
"New normal" is such a stupid term.
-
I wear a mask going out to walk the dog and to any business. It’s a pretty dense neighborhood, lots of people out when it’s nice out. If I was out at my parents house in a more suburban area I wouldn’t wear the mask outside walking around generally. Not in the yard or in the car.

yeah. I think it's going to be required for air travel and transit use for quite a while. I think the pulling the mask down to eat in a restaurant is extreme but I wouldn't be surprised if servers and cooks wear masks. It's really a minor inconvenience, not a dramatic lifestyle change. - easier to wear a mask in a store than stop eating fast food.

Seeing this thread turn into a mask off has been quite the treat.

What is the highest % and country that was wearing masks a year ago today? Commonplace seems to be a stretch and it will not be any new normal here.

voted 3. i have a beat up n95 for shopping and i use a buff at job sites (required on one project starting yesterday, but the crew didn't cover their faces any more than normal today and one dude had a nice bitch session about how it's just the flu at the safety tailgate).
i should have a box of unused n95s somewhere, but i can't find it.

I had some painting masks I wore for a month until I broke them. Now my wife made me a mask out of the same pattern we have for our son's curtains, they have crabs, whales, and puffins on them, it's perfect for me.
The office manager at my new job made masks for all of us with the company logo on them.
-
Has this crossed anybody’s mind yet? How long before the criminal element takes advantage of the “mask mandate”?
As summer approaches, anybody/everybody can walk amongst us with a ball cap, sunglasses and a face covering.... it’s just nucking futs to even consider.

Dumbass, inane lunatics. It didn't become politicized until their king said that the response was a plot against his rule. They couldn't come off that rail despite the fact that their king has been really inconsistent about how he talks about this.

It's doubles in a bubble, five courts doubles played on each one.
Trim, I'll know five minutes into warm-up as to whether I'll be able to stick with it or not. I'm also playing a singles ladder and I won't be wearing a mask for that.

I also didn't mention that I need to take an abundance of caution because DSM is the #8 hot spot in the country because these Iowans haven't taken this seriously at all. It is amazing that the rural state of Iowa has essentially the same numbers as DFW.
-
yeah that's a good point - when you read about how the meat packing plants just don't give a solitary eff about their immigrant work force it kind of makes sense that the numbers are bad in Iowa

KDub clearly told us months ago this is a dense city with subways problem.
If you're in a small town and not working in some meat packing or other super dense workspace, I imagine you're quite a bit less likely to catch it than someone who routinely commutes to their office job via public transit.

I think too much of the mask research is focused on the effectiveness of the mask in protecting the person wearing it. That mask would redirect particles from breathing, speaking, coughing, and sneezing downward, so it would have to be effective at limiting the spread, especially compared to no mask at all. They probably provide no protection to the person wearing them, but that isn't really the point, anyway.

no I meant they were saying they weren't effective at spreading to others compared to surgical masks or homemade cotton ones.

I've already briefed BSAC on pros and cons of mandating masks be worn when posting on gE.
-
Hearing some pretty big clusters are popping out from folks who are all on the same Reddit thread or facebook groups. Seems the viral load is magnified over the 5G system. I would think for the safety of our user community masks should be mandatory.
-
That was my conclusion too. It'll take a day or 2 to get used to masking up at the bbs station, but I sure as hell don't want this flu to inadvertently make beems right about gE's demise.

Of course not. We will be using this time to update and improve the gE poster facial recognition features we have been running since it cannot work through a facemask (yet).

I'd proposal timestamped webcam selfie along with user's post to validate mask being worn appropriately.

if you're wearing a real respirator or even just a properly fit n95, it does make it a fair bit more difficult to breathe. it's hard to imagine that a surgical mask or some homemade equivalent has any real effect.
no idea of the increased effort to breathe is just uncomfortable or if it could actually be dangerous or harmful to someone with asthma or something.

I wore eyeglasses with my mask today for the first time and it was very humid today. The bitches kept fogging up, impeding my ability to see. This seems like as dangerous as any other health risk out there. I almost ran into the banana display.

If you can't find a facial covering that works for you, you're not really trying. You don't have to wear an N-95 or other respirator. Just something that will prevent your cough or sneeze from travelling 20 feet. You and Karen are both aware that that's just ADA troll nonsense.
-
it totally does.
How do you have a proper seal if your exhalations are coming up between your cheeks and the mask?
-
a. the front of the mask isn't that far from your glasses either and the exhalation is presumably slowed vs normal respiration velocity
b. it's a rough ridin' cheap metal strip that fits on your nose. the idea that it actually forms a seal for longer than the first time you move your face is pretty much a joke. if you really want a seal, wear a respirator.

Nah, I'll use a note to get out of it on our flights to/from Ft Lauderdale in 10 days and I can't think of any other businesses that I can't avoid that would require it.

Also, there’s a small percent of the population that are both shitty human beings AND have legitimate medical conditions. That’s rich. Congrats on being perfectly programmed Spracs.
There’s nothing selfish at all about not wearing a mask. They really serve no purpose other than to help show who is a gullible mediot and who takes the time to understand the science that fails to support mask wearing.
Lastly, I got my “doctors note” from a local friend who is very good at photoshop. Thus, no mask needed.
The only time I might possibly need the note will be for our flights to Florida & back for our family vacation the first week of June. Otherwise, if a business requires masks, we simply don’t support them. Pretty simple concept really, especially since there are plenty of places here to spend our money that don’t require masks and are filled with other intelligent shoppers.

Forging a doctor's note is a felony.

I would think that if someone were to catch COVID 19 on a plane that let people ignore their mask policy, that person would have a pretty decent lawsuit against the airline.

Let's hope bqqkie draws a more diligent TSA agent than usual who checks out the photoshop'd doctor note when bqqkie's maskless klan rolls up to the desk and has him detained right there.

Bqqkie - I think you indicated you were a believer? I’d consider the words of Paul in deciding whether to wear a mask in public:
Do Not Cause Another to Stumble
13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.[a] 22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves. 23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.

Most importantly, I agree that we should not pass judgement on others so I really appreciate you posting this particular scripture. You see, I have no issues with anyone that chooses to "mask up" and will not participate in any mask shaming. Nor will I attempt to encourage anyone who feels better wearing a mask not to wear a mask.
I truly and genuinely appreciate all of your concerns for our health; thank you. We will do our best to avoid those in masks as well as places that require masks to procure their goods &/or services. Hopefully, the pendulum will swing back to normal sooner than later and we can all have a good laugh about this plandemic.

The airline is going to laugh at his fake Dr.'s note and make him mask up and he will 1000% take the knee

I have a real bone to pick with people like Bqqkie, because actions like his (see also the abuse of emotional support animal carriage) create animus that blows back on people with legitimate disabilities and concomitant medical concerns. Sort of like how gluten free posers make people with Celiac disease embarassed to order at restaurants. Bqqkie, stop being a selfish prick.

That guy has way more hair than bqqkie.

There is zero chance that bqqk won't mask up the minute anyone tells him to. He wore a mask to post here when trim and I told him to.
