As many of you know, I am the first born son of a second son, but I have risen above my station in life through clever maneuvering and a strategic and prosperous alliance with my wife.
Having sired three boys and with the oldest now readying for his proper schooling and having survived the ravages of his first 3 winters, my thoughts turn to the future. While my seed has been strong enough to all but guarantee my name will survive, to strengthen and consolidate my family's power, I will need to ensure that no mistakes or stupidity on the part of my progeny spoils our good name.
For those who have not yet produced an heir, what are you doing today to ensure that you pass on your kingdom to your flesh and blood?
A few other questions:
1) what is your line of succession looking like? any potential rivals within your family?
2) what are your plans for your second sons? military service? eyes on the papacy?
3) how have you marginalized any bastards or potential claimants from relatives that threaten your claim?
4) what will you look for when finding a match for your heir? (strong house, wealth, wit?)

I honestly haven't given it much thought kk

your ancestors will curse you for all eternity

i have a male breeder sibling so it should be all good
-
First born son of a second son but I'm the oldest cousin. Does that make any difference for my planning?
-
i am also the 1st son of a 2nd son
-
Alas, I am but a first born son of a second son. I have spent years planning to foil my two older male cousins and take my rightful spot upon the family name.
I have only a daughter, though, so I am preparing in advance to wed her to a son of a wealthy family.

If you can still pin down your cousins with a better claim and do the "uncle" thing you should be good.

cucked
-
My grandpa was the youngest of 10 and I think some of his brothers are alive so really I think I'm just mumped
-
I am a first born son of a second born son as well. Unfortunately, the first born son of the first born son already has a first born son.
-
what does the whole first born son of a second son thing do for you or your lineage or whatever?
-
what does the whole first born son of a second son thing do for you or your lineage or whatever?
it's some game of thrones crap, bro. don't worry about these fools.
-
oh, i quit watching that
-
I am the 2nd son of a first son. My older brother will not procreate, but he did marry into having a bastard without his genes underneath him and without his name. I believe this gives me the throne, right? Either way, our name comes down to me.
-
kk, i've actually been thinking a lot about my legacy in recent weeks. as you know, i've eschewn the production of children, leaving me heirless. what, then, to do with my estate? it rests heavily on my mind. i would not have it used in support of causes i despise, or to lessen the burden of individuals to whom god justly granted those very burdens. it distresses.
-
I'll take it sys
-
I'll take it sys
i will think on it.
-
OK, I don't need it so feel free to factor that in
-
how long do you plan on living?
-
Hmm, probably not as long as other people, but not short either. Medium I guess
-
Sys, don't do anything with it and let someone else figure it out.
-
I'm also significantly younger than you sys so lifetimes should be OK
-
i wouldn't want to shift my burden to you in the years when you should be enjoying respite from your life's work.
-
Sys, make 3 wills. All dated the same day, but all different. Each of the three leaving everything to a diff one of your three least fav posters.
-
i am also the 1st son of a 2nd son
same :sdeek:
Also the oldest son (dad's older bro) is gay so I guess it comes down biologically to my dad.
-
Looking at the maternal side of the family, I'm a first son of a second daughter, no sons. Also the oldest cousin. Is my claim better here?
-
First son of a first son. Had two sons just in case.
-
Second son of a first son here.
-
My dad is giving his estate to the Nature Conservancy. That's a real life thing that is happening.
-
That's nice Emo.
-

Like, he is giving everything he has to them and not you?

That is how I understand it, yes.
-
that really sucks, emo. if you'd like, you can make a deal with him to give it to you and i will give mine to the nature conservancy (legit real offer).
-
It's fine. He thinks giving anything to me would be enabling me to be a loser or something, wants me to earn everything on my own (aside from what my white privilege affords me of course).
-
parents like that are rough ridin' idiots.
-
He's probably just messing with you
-
I'm their only hope for any shred of proof that they may have been good parents. I can see the desperation in their logic. Or logic in their desperation. Whichever.
-
Maternally, I am the first son of a first daughter.
Emo- that is hard to hear. Why do you like nature so much? I would hate it. Why don't you try building a parking lot in the middle of some acreage just to see how it feels?

why didn't your parents raise you/set you loose in juarez for a proper level of #adversity
-
"i will fondly remember gpa emo, who legend tells roamed the streets armed with only a diaper and a slingshot"
-
Emo doesn't need that hand out, I agree with emodad
-
I mean, the thing is usually by the time a parent passes away you're already old yourself and past the handout stage
-
One thing I should also mention: my father boasts that he has so finely calculated things that he will die the day after he's spent his last dollar. So there might not be anything to inherit. He's a real wild card I must say. I find it endearing. Almost ben ji dad esque.
-
that's p great
-
he should never have had children if he hated them so much.
-
He hates us out of love you see.
-
At this rate, i'll probably take over my families hospital expenses. :frown:

debt is not inheritable
-
Confidence rising
-
Private student loans are tho. I hope I don't die for their sake.
-
Second son of a second son. Married into a 3rd daughter of a 4th son. I will get nothing and will never improve my station in life.
-
married money so its really their call.
-
debt is not inheritable
how frustrating for emo's father.

My dad really is a great guy but wow I could tell some stories to convince you otherwise.
-
first son of first son. i didn't know i was slumming it with so many succession inferiors on this bbs.
-
Maybe this can replace your college question for new people
-
Fourth son of a first son. Nothing but scraps.
-
Second of the first. I am little finger'ing the crap out of it all while breath is still drawn. My engineering scale and pencil are mightier than any sword.
-
First of a First, and I have a son and a daughter.
Obviously my son will want for nothing.
I am participating in this thread exclusively for guidance on the wisest approach for maximizing value of daughters. TIA.
-
It's a new world Pete. First daughters may be the new sons before it's your time.
-
I'd like my kids to go to an elite college.

Marry them off for a high price -- settle for nothing less than the family's fattest calf and noblest steed.
-
Second of first son. my older brother has four kids, all girls, and they are out of the procreation game. I have two, also both girls. My Lebanese father in law half-jokingly scorns us with the Abu Banaat title, which is an Arab insult meaning "father of daughters."
Notably, my father was an only son and while his father had two brothers, one hung himself in the barn when he was a teenager and the other wasn't right in the head and died childless.
Long story short, if I don't crank out a son, the entire line dating back to the founding of the current "estate" dies with me.
-
That's a looming burden I must say there FR.
-
I'd like my kids to go to an elite college.
There's no such thing
-

India Institute of Technology is pretty rough ridin' Elite, bro.
-
First son of a first son, only one carrying the title. Lot of responsibility
-
3rd son of a 1st son stumbled into merger with 1st daughter (and genesis of wealth) of a 2nd son
My 1st son is the second eldest male although my son is quite astute his cousin is a brute and could prove a worthy adversary. Hear! Hear!

Reverse mortgage, live it up in your final years.

My main goal right now is trying to prevent my first son from becoming a tyrant.

I am a first born son of a first born son. I will produce no heirs.

I think I have decided that my legacy will be to help SonOfKK rule the world.
