The guy he was with was arrested for battery, Jamari was arrested for interfering with a police office. Looks like his friend was beating women and Jamari was trying to explain to the cop that it's ok to do that in Lawrence. The officer was likely also a woman.

Suspended for the Georgetown game on Wednesday:

"This is a particular instance in which, when you deal with youngsters, especially deal with numbers, obviously there's going to be some times when you have to deal with situations. That's the way it is in every family. Certainly this is one that could have easily been avoided because obviously he wasn't a part of anything going on there. He was just there.

"Of course, you guys have read the report. You know about as much as I do. (He) just didn't handle it very well when he was asked to do something. He understands. 'Mari gets it. 'Mari, certainly after the initial thing, realization of the ramifications, something made out of something so small, he realizes he was wrong. But we'll deal with it just like we would with anybody. He feels bad about what happened. Certainly understands why he won't play. But (he's) got to somehow take this and learn from it and be stronger for it, identify any reasons on why it occurred, eliminate that from your thought process moving forward, become a better man because of it. Certainly it's a great learning lesson to our other guys, as well."

was he buying it for a recruit?
was he buying it for a current jayhawk?

I believe he got arrested for possession of marijuana while he was in Chicago about a year ago. He paid a little more than $1k in fines. Apparently Self is just now finding out about it?

I don't have a problem with his choices in isolation but I don't want a pot head directing any program at my university. I'm not surprised Self and Co. down the road are ok with him though. "He brought in Cliff Alexander - who cares if he smells like he just got back from a wiz khalifa concert??"

Also, big difference between grown man J Howard getting arrested for possession and keeping it from his employers and two kids supposedly failing a drug test.

Jerrance was not only the ace recruiter on Weber's Illini staff, he was also the best at guiding the team through opponent scouts. I watched a lot of practices during the Weber era, and Jerrance was always the most comprehensible, i.e. a good teacher, able to communicate to the kids.

You guys offered him a job, and he turned you down. I understand there's a certain feeling among the EMAWs re: that other Kansas-based team in Lawrence. But it's totally Tuckish of you to go after Jerrance. You're all a bunch of dope smokers, and you know it. That's why you're so creative.

Also, Jerrance is totally EMAW. Just like his best buddy Coach Chester Frazier.

Look no one here is mad at him for his poor life choices and it has nothing to do with job offerings.  We want to see an addict get the help they might need.  Lawrence will chew players and coaches up and spit them out.  I mean look at their coaches giving tickets to pornography stars (another blight on the human condition).  This isn't about blame, its about help.

I didn't realize this place was full of so many puritanical tucks.  If a person can do their job at a high level (no pun intended) and goes home after work and smokes a joint in their free time, who cares?  How is it any different than having a glass of wine or a couple beers?  Weed is less harmful than alcohol and cigarettes and is legal in multiple states now.  It's completely hypocritical to pretend like weed is some addictive substance that's only used by low life criminals.  Some of you guys should get out of Bumfuq, KS every now and then and see what the rest of the world has to offer.

Marijuana cigarettes are the gateway to other addictive drugs that are illegal.

A beer or glass of wine is the gateway to a nice meal with your friends/family.

Weed is legal in multiple states now.  It will probably be legal everywhere in 20-30 years.  Alcohol was a federal crime during Prohibition, and now it's sold at just about every professional sporting event and restaurant in the country.  Get with the times, bros.

The prevailing wisdom is that since Bradley's coach is soon to be fired and Jerrance is a prime candidate for that job someone in Peoria may not have wanted that to happen, so they leaked this.  The fact that it wasn't publicized originally is obviously as a result of others here protecting Jerrance.  People talk though, and it's all public record.  Easy to prove it happened if you have a reason to look.

When Markie Morris statutory raped that girl in Scott pollards '86 Buick station wagon, phog was all "he just borrowed the car, and you can rail 15 year-olds legally in Bangkok. No reason to punish these guys".

Two threads later was a novella on why Delonte West and Bob Huggins should be banned from basketball. Of course, according the them, Delonte also needed prison time.

Phoggies got more double standards than a Tri-Delt. . amiright?

Damn, I wish I had known that when I visited Prague last fall.  Pure cocaine is probably better for you than 90% of the crap they sell at fast food restaurants, FWIW.

My mother was sweetheart of the KU Sigma Chi chapter in the early 70's. One of her most vivid memories is sitting in the Sigma Chi house when Ken Adams III of the Phillips Petroleum family returned from Mexico with a fraternity brother. They opened a duffle bag, plopped down an enormous bag of beautiful cocaine, and proceeded to invite everyone to join. My mother of course claims to have declined the invitation but who knows? Anyway, he committed suicide at age 29 after what must have been a very troubled life.

I bet your mom has lots of stories from college that end with completely improbable explanations.

Rumor has it that Self and the AD are a little underwhelmed by the job Howard has been doing.  This is a nice trump card to have.

Did this rumor come from the same guys who said Frankcamp would start over Mason this year?

I never heard that, so probably not.  Just saying maybe there is a compelling reason this is coming to light now.

I assume the arrested stemmed from a traffic stop but haven't seen the arrest report, is it online anywhere?

No.

Having someone convicted of a drug crime on your coaching staff is so KU, I like that they are embracing the heal role.

Mizzou's head football coach was arrested for a DUI.  Seems like a much worse offense to me than misdemeanor marijuana possession, but hey, I'm not a puritanical tuck from Kansas, so who knows.

Gary Pinkel received zero criticism from this board and his name was NOT mentioned in a skinnybenny musical ballad.

KU "mizzou did something bad once too".  Pretty disgusting.  He could have murdered someone and Lawrencetucky would put a positive spin on it.

According to the Ku's drug abuse policy.  A six game suspension means this is his 4th offense
