Title: Ebola
Post by: ben ji on July 26, 2014, 06:05:51 PM
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/deadly-ebola-virus-spreads-to-nigeria-by-plane-as-sierra-leone-hunts-kidnapped-patient-9630359.html

I feel like I've seen this movie before

Quote
The Ebola virus that has already killed 660 people across West Africa has spread to Nigeria after a Liberian man boarded a plane to the country, the most populous in the continent.H e managed to board the flight despite of having a high fever. Once on the plane he vomited, before dying in Nigeria.

Upon arrival in the country’s capital Lagos - a megacity home to 21 million people - the 40-year-old had been moved to an isolation ward.

Believed to be a government official with the finance ministry, he had recently lost his sister to Ebola in Liberia, health officials there said. Authorities are now investigating anyone who may have come into contact with him.

Quote
Saudatu Koroma, 32, a resident of the densely populated Wellington neighbourhood, had been admitted to an isolation ward while blood samples were analysed, health ministry spokesman Sidi Yahya Tunis. The results came back on Thursday.

“The family of the patient stormed the hospital and forcefully removed her and took her away,” Tunis said. “We are searching for her.”

posters most likely to get ebola:
1) ast - always around raw meat. loves to bbq. lives in dallas near usa ebola patient.  these factors cement ast at #1 spot.
2) kat kid- has young children, lives near nbaf (crucible of death)
3) cns "the brain surgeon" - eats known virus carrier vegetables like zucchini.  loves to go to the zoo.  if lived in dallas, would be prime candidate #1.

Guys, the Ebola outbreak has fully doubled in Dallas.  If it continues at this rate, we will need 'clams to start a longer list.

 :surprised:

100% increase day to day is pretty aggressive.

Evivently they are forcibly quarantining 5 of d00ds family members,  and they also removed 3 kids from some school due to contact with the Ebola guy.

Also, they are saying ebola bad person was in liberia caring for an infected preggo lady until she died, then he bounced and lied about being around any Ebola.

Liberia is charging him w a crime.  We shoukd ship him there tomorrow in that bubble.

I would lie about being around Ebola if it meant leaving Liberia, too. This guy is probably dead if he stays there. He will survive in the USA.

Necrophiliacs are really getting hit hard by this outbreak.  It used to be that there was really very little risk associated with having sex with dead bodies.  Now, it's quite perilous.

I wonder if Necros sit around and talk about the good old days?

They are going to have to start bringing Lysol, anyway. Sex just isn't as safe as it used to be, no matter what you are into.

The "Spanish" Flu pandemic of 1918-1920 killed somewhere between 50 and 100 million people. Ebola has been around for years and killed less than 1,000 so far? How many people have died of AIDS?

Nice foreshadowing, sir.  As it turns out, #2 was from a neighboring suburb (The Colony) but showed up at a "Care Now" in my 'hood with the Ebola.

Crazy crap.

The Colony could easily go in the 2nd Worst City in Texas thread if it weren't so easily the worst.  And if such a thread existed.

If it provides you with any security she provides services at several hospitals in Rural ks and even there on Every patient that comes to the ER. Regardless of their chief complaint they are given screening questions to assess for risk factors for Ebola.  She does say it is unfortunate that this was not implemented before Mr. Duncan was diagnosed with Ebola in Dallas but at least as it stands now it seems all ERs in the US are screening every single patient with a questionnaire as they walk into their dept.

PS. she says get your flu shot!

so let me get this straight, 1st healthcare worker pretty much restricts herself to her apartment and only comes in contact with 1 other person and is left to be treated at the hospital that is bungling its way through this.

but then you have the 2nd worker who was jetsetting and potentially endangering hundreds if not more people and she is getting transfered to Emory.

if i was worker #1 i would be pretty pissed about this obvious death sentence.

I haven't been paying much attention, but it seems like in just about any American hospital, you would have about a 67% chance of beating Ebola, minimum.

Is this what the start of a Hollywood-style plague looks like? An incompetent government repeatedly lying about how "there's nothing to fear"? Our myopic failure to impose travel restrictions, screenings, and rapid response teams (isn't that a primary function of the CDC?!) is starting to look like Obama's "Katrina" - only with far worse consequences. I mean what the eff? How is a government that devours over $4 trillion a year this stupid and slow?

Ok, now the government is finally taking some real, meaningful action - we now have an official Ebola Czar!

Doctor (ha ha, just kidding) Ron Klain is "a longtime Democratic operative" who's notable credentials include:
- Chief of Staff to Al Gore
- Chief of Staff to Joe Biden
- Instrumental in implementing the 2009 "stimulus package", including signing off on the Solyndra deal.

Give it up for Ron!
