Our stud student radio station is getting destroyed on KSU message boards because the DJs don't think oscar is good.

Kind of want OKcat to be the afternoon lineup, but like just for an hour a day until he got kicked off by the FCC or whatever.

Then we could replace him with Fanning, who is much more appropriate.

Fanning,

How much for a really weak signal in Manhattan on "the AM dial" (getting into the lingo here), and then simulcast (is that the right word :dunno:) the program on the internet?

Would you say that it is more or less than what we could embezzle from the BBBS donation fund?  Give or take a thousand or so...

Close. A station like 91.9 is like the weakest signal we could afford. We could maybe work out some trade, sponsor the tower company, & plant our new tower right in Animals backyard for 75K. We could maybe reach out 25 miles. I'll start making some calls.

We should probably also consider including video, to broadcast the inner workings of the studio.  It's more content on which to sell advertising, and the rough ridin' advertisers are going to line up for this.

IDEA:

We rent space from the Sigma Nu's to erect a small tower (antennae) from their top deck, and turn their sleeping dorm into a broadcast studio.   Christ knows they need the money, and that signal would hit the entire campus and the football stadium parking lot...which is the real goal here.

We bought it on the internets as everyone in Manhattan told us it was illegal. It basically just hijacked an existing station. Could be a good option as long as we use fake names?

Any respect getting butthurt over a college kids opinion, on a college station for amateurs, needs to take a long look in the mirror to see what a worthless POS they've become.

You should def go post that in that GPC thread.

don't bother. they're just a bunch of dorks still stuck in their parents basement who have nothing better to do then talk poorly about some college kids trying to learn a craft.

Those basement dwellers are constantly ragging on college kids.

you know why, don't you? because that whole board is filled with people that never even went to college and still live in their parents basement and only have internet by stealing the wireless password from their parents file cabinet when they aren't looking. it's sad but true.

Yeah, clearly they don't get college kids, which is probably why they're so reclusive and anti-social,  hanging out in their parents basements and stealing the neighbors Wi-Fi.

Just attacking those kids for trying and hiding behind anonymous screen names trying to be "too cool".  Makes me sick.

DOOM_Catz and I bought a transmitter that went from DU and could be heard on campus. That's like, really far away.

We bought it on the internets as everyone in Manhattan told us it was illegal. It basically just hijacked an existing station. Could be a good option as long as we use fake names?

Andale_Catz would often use the transmitter to hijack a dead air signal and run their rebel station "91.9 The SLICE"

Do a kickstarter and spread the news all over campus and to elite EMAWs. This does two: 1. Further advertises for the board (although you guys do a tremendous job of that anyway) hopefully expanding the member base so that 2. We spread the cost over more people to donate. Here's where the elite EMAWs with their elite money come into play. Even with this, we will still probably need to fundraise our asses off, but it could give us a good starting base.

Edit: looking at gE's member list, assuming that half are cat fans (approx 2,000), to raise the $75,000, we would need $37.50 donated from every EMAW. This is a highly unlike scenario that all 2,000 would donate, but it also that it is extremely likely that we could acquire the financial capital needed if we all pitched in.

I would contribute on three conditions:

1) A segment where MIR forces callers to discuss AND APPRECIATE women’s volleyball. And maybe a weekly “why it’s racist” segment to catch everyone up on kstateo fanbase happenings. Basically, MIR yelling at rednecks (<--maybe call it that?  :dunno: )

2) Obviously there would be a late night and Friday afternoon turntable session.

3) A segment where michcat calls his co-worker for an update on what grinds his gears this week and then michcat just talks about generally ridiculous car mustache stuff in San Francisco.

Yeah maybe.  But one of my classmates (who is a pretty big academic stud) has a pretty long resume, including a few years working for "Big Tobacco," and he said that all interviewers ask him about is his stint working for his college radio station too.

Just seemed weird.  I debated about whether or not to even put it on my resume.
