TITLETOWN - A Decade Long Celebration Of The Greatest Achievement In College Athletics History => Kansas State Basketball is hard => Topic started by: ednksu on December 15, 2012, 10:08:08 PM

Aside from using this as an awesome chant at the end of blowouts how do we make this happen?
I mean this board has activated the student body and the university to do some great things. Clearly we need to form a plan of action. Currie may not give a eff about basketball but he has to care about attendance in a revenue sport and what people are saying about his abilities to find a non-dog crap coach in a major sport.
-
I can't decide whether to be more upset with this bad hire / poor performance tonight, or knowing that i have several more months of these type of performances left before we reach a new low point. damn. :curse:
-
The message, I feel, was already sent to Currie that this was a questionable at best hire.
Dog crap performances cannot be tolerated. We need to make damn sure that this debauchery must end after a year even if he gives no fucks about basketball.
-
when 3250 show up tues to watch this motion w/ comotion offense, he'll justify it with all the seats are sold. NOt next yr Currie. You need to be held accountable for hiring a FIRED coach.
-
so seriously....
And we need to work the Animal.

Worst part about this is that students (like me) will buy icat tickets to get good seats for football but icat comes with basketball tickets and Currie will use that to say that attendace is still up.
-
so seriously....
And we need to work the Animal.
And Spradling's parents. Apparently they play a roll in coaching decisions

Honestly though, I was surprise to see Angel give the eff up. This has to be a viable road to push as well.
I believe a lot of players were going to leave (Angel included) and there was a lot of sunshine pumping because he wasn't Frank. But seeing them give up this early in games and the season, they have to help in this endeavor.
-
I believe a lot of players were going to leave (Angel included).
lol, no.

yeah, I guess the crap loads of smoke, quotes, and " that meeting never happened, oh wait they did happen but we wont discuss it" were bullshit.

It is really starting to look like this is dead on. Jfc

Just replace obamas face with curries shiteating smirk on the Wannabe Marxist Dictator billboard.

Are you guys really going to let Currie replace Snyder? That simply can't happen.

Snyder won't let Currie replace Snyder unless contracts have already been signed by his replacement. After his last retirement he'll go JoePa and let Dimel/Sean run the show while he has on a headset in the press box before he walks away. After these last 2 seasons, he's taken the upper hand.

i lolled at the "angel included" part, if it wasn't clear. i don't think the entire giant mutiny stuff is true, but i don't think people that believe it are so stupid that i think they're funny. i do think that about including art.

You can believe both that Frank was done here and hate the Weber hire.

"That's about as good a defense I've seen a Gonzaga team play," Weber said. "They locked in on Rodney. We probably didn't screen as well as we need to do to help him get open, but he's also got to shoot open shots when he has opportunities."

Our best defense tonight seemed to be Gonzaga's inability to convert numerous bunnies. The only way we stopped their bigs down low was if they somehow missed a point blank shot.

Guys...I come to you in peace. I am an ILLINI and all I can say to is , First I'm sorry...this will be a long and trying time...You will see the fan base divided like never before...but try to stay strong and put the University K-State FIRST above all else....Weber did this to us...Our fans have always been tight even through the bad years...but after Weber failed to capitalize on recruits after the 05 team we knew it was downhill from there...You need look no further than our HQ message board archives to see the implosion of our fan base... Your player went from a tough coach to a weak coach and I feel for them....they are just kids, always remember this....never put them down as they work hard for you...Believe me the ILLINI fans have your back...If you need to vent please stop by our HQ board...Good Luck Fans...Stay True to Your School !!

There was a time when we almost had a "fire Currie" billboard, but then all the candyasses went all "Let's wait and see". Not pointing at you Koug, I remember you being on board. Steve Dave, sys, Rusty, etc were all on board as well. Everyone who pussed out on that movement should be banned from bitching about anything basketball related for the duration of the season. They wanted to "wait and see", now STFU and watch this shitstorm unfold on the court.

Wait and see'ers should be able to bitch even more IMO.

Who's piece was it that basically named the players a few months ago? I bet you believe Rodney was happy too.
both art and mcgruder have publicly stated that they were happy playing bball for martin. art has publicly talked about his friendship with martin. art wasn't far away from transferring to scar (not publicly stated, but i know it to be true). you don't have to have a good, a decent, a memory to know things, there's google for people like you.

The design still exists, so getting them on a shirt is easy enough. And I just now realized firejohncurrie.com redirects here.

The scariest part is that the only real success oscar has had has been in year 1 with someone else's players. If there was any reason for optimism going into this season based on oscar's track record it was this. The talking point favored on other boards that we need to wait until oscar gets his own guys in here is not based in reality. It's going to get worse. Much, much worse.

I'll take the good work done by reporters over the claims made by team pseudo message board crew.

LMFAO at "good reporters". Do you even know how/who they get their info from? With your tiny rough ridin' brain can you figure out why Kellis had ZERO rough ridin' info while frank was here and the second frank was on his way to SC, Kellis all of a sudden had all kinds of scoops?

when i say publicly stated, that means stated in public. to someone who in some way records the communication. like a journalist. which is another word for a reporter.

The only positive thing I can say about Weber and your situation is that his first year at Illinois started horribly. We looked like garbage and we lost a brutal game against Providence where we looked like we had never practiced before and yet that team rebounded and won the Big Ten title outright and made the Sweet sixteen and then we had our 39-2 season the next year.
The problem is that this was 1 1/2 seasons out of nine where his offense looked like something the team had practiced. Not to mention, he had some all americans and all conference players on that team. I think the only reasonable conclusion is that Weber had little to do with that team snapping out oftheir funk. I think they just learned to tune him out because after a few months they figured out he was a total moron.
Anyway, I'm just saying there is a chance the team figures it out. Of course, this could end up being a bad thing because it could mean nine years of oscar Weber, and I personally would trade those twoseasons for a chance to do it over with another coach, but the fact is those guys did figure it out. On their own probably. But it happened. No thanks to oscar Weber.

so, frank left for the hell of it and there is NO rift between him and Currie. After all that was said in public, by people who could record it, like a journalist. /team pseudo logic

lol, no. they hate each other. if we have to have this conversation, you should stick to trying to rebut the words i actually write, not the Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) crap you imagine yourself to be reading.
-
I'm just saying there is a chance the team figures it out.
good point. i agree. this team has talent and they'll play some good games before the season's over. unfortunately, it seems very likely they'll come out of the noncon with no good wins. and they'll be entering a conference that offers them very few opportunities to pick up good wins.
-

are you really this rough ridin' stupid?
You said if its on public record, it must be true, like a tuck idiot. Well Frank and Currie are both on record saying everything was hunky dory, so it must be true. Taken at face value I'm going to stick with reporters and the players they talked to saying they were going to leave. Than I'll use common sense and logic to figure out who. You can keep your head in the sand.
-
Realistically, when is the soonest that people think Weber would/could be removed?
I honestly think we're looking at a four year minimum. Three if ticket sales plummet and we take a Texas Tech like dive.

probably could maybe get him gone sooner if he starts to feel intense personal heat. like people coming up to him on the street telling him to beat it and get lost. a long, long time ago some friends and i called dana altmans house and told his wife to tell him to quit and leave and get out of town and three weeks later he took the creighton job. just sayin.

Pressure has to start now. That doesn't mean shitty tweets to Shulz threatening him. That means popular advocacy that we deserve something better than this retread piece of crap. If you're an Ahearn donor, that means describing that you support Big 12 championship basketball, not this horseshit.

your position, as i understand it, then, is that you choose to believe the players when they talk to reporters. except that you're not a tuck idiot, so you choose not to believe the players when they talk to reporters. to decide between the former and the latter you rely on what you consider to be common sense and logic.
it is possible that do consistently and logically screen public comments for truthfulness. you haven't made your logic available for review, nor displayed evidence of your common sense, so i have no means of affirming or disputing your claim. moreover, if you summarily dismiss evidence that conflicts with your already formed opinions, i can see little reason to continue this discussion. the only evidence i can offer, unfortunately are statements from the players involved.
-

I'll make this simple
I trust multiple reporters saying anywhere between 1 and (I believe) 6 players were contemplating leaving or were unhappy with the Frank regime and wanted to quit (Rodney). I saw multiple instances of Frank franking good players. I believe tweets about players transferring especially when there is no denial, but rather just a dispute to the timeline. I trust my own eyes when players tweet pictures of themselves interacting with Frank and than interacting with oscar as evidence of their dissatisfaction.
You believe 'coach speak' and public statements meant to soften the blow to tucks who can't see the forest for the trees, kinda like how you are acting now. I have made my position very clear. Frank was going to frank multiple players and or multiple players were going to self frank.
But none of this matters now. We have an ultra shitty coach, that needs to be dealt with before the entirety of our program is burned down only leaving a shinny new, wasted, BBTF, an empty octagon, and shattered dreams of what could have been.
-
i also believe between 1-6 players were contemplating leaving. and i believe between 1-6 players actually would have left. i also believe art and mcgruder were not in either group.
i have seen/heard both publicly available and not publicly available evidence that convinces me of all those things (except for mcgruder, i have just seen/heard publicly available evidence regarding him).
i do not believe that you have any evidence, either publicly available or not, that would suggest that art was among those contemplating leaving. i am extremely confident of that. i do not believe you have any evidence, either publicly available or not, that would suggest that mcgruder was among those contemplating leaving. i am relatively confident of that.
it matters, because the truth always matters.

both art and mcgruder have publicly stated that they were happy playing bball for martin. art has publicly talked about his friendship with martin. art wasn't far away from transferring to scar (not publicly stated, but i know it to be true). you don't have to have a good, a decent, a memory to know things, there's google for people like you.

whats absolutely hilarious about edn's post is that he is referring to the stupid ass jug of Snyder blog post which the source at best is Will Spradling's dad or one of his people but it is most likely that the source was wabash station.
classic edn, cue him making some hilarious post about me and deflecting his hilarious post.
-
A shitload of players had said they'd leave if Frank comes back, because getting yelled at sucks. We all say things when we're mad that we'd never go through with. Will and Nino would've left; that's it.
-
I think ART listened to Frank after Frank left but that's pretty common knowledge. He wasn't one of the whiners originally. It was the Suther cry guys

yeah it was the jug post. I have no problem admitting that.
Quite frankly it adds up better than team pseudo's bullshit group think.
If you couldn't see that Rodney was unhappy under Frank than your blind. I would be willing to entertain discussions about Angel, but I refuse to believe in your sources for a verity of reasons. At least as Herm Edwards says, put your name on it, when it comes to sources. This is the first I've seen you talk about your magical sources that know all at K-State. So why don't you share some more about the inner workings. I would rather trust what I see in the way multiple players interact with Frank than your message board fodder.
And any time MiR wants to engage on his tactics on this board I'll go into that discussion. Or I could just make childish immature jabs at someone closing out my post, but that might be taken as a deflection. /team pseudo

Haven't we all said "My boss is a jerk, I'm quitting tomorrow" only to keep working there?

what are the odds that angel makes it through the season on the roster? He's here next year?

Angel will finish the season here, but he'll probably transfer.

Not sure where to put this
http://www.lostlettermen.com/slideshow/cbb-top-10-most-overpaid-coaches/#1 (http://www.lostlettermen.com/slideshow/cbb-top-10-most-overpaid-coaches/#1)
The biggest elephant in the room during Weber’s tenure at Illinois is that he rode the coattails of Illini predecessor Bill Self and his stud recruits (namely Dee Brown and Deron Williams) to his most successful years.
That theory gained momentum in the seasons after Williams and Brown left as Weber failed to find success with his own recruits. Considering the school’s natural (one would think) in to the bevy of great players in Chicago, it was rather inexcusable on Weber’s part. Thus Weber was fired last season after a woeful 17-15 year.
Yet somehow Kansas State is confident that Weber can lure recruits to the Little Apple. Confident enough that they’re already paying Weber more than they paid former coach Frank Martin ($1.3MM), even though Martin is widely considered a better coach and recruiter.

Angel will finish the season here, but he'll probably transfer.
Good for you, Angel. Good for you.

The biggest elephant in the room during Weber’s tenure at Illinois is that he rode the coattails of Illini predecessor Bill Self and his stud recruits (namely Dee Brown and Deron Williams) to his most successful years.

sometimes I wonder if the college basketball community was trolling Schulz and the K-State0 world by letting us hire oscar. Like they all fed us a line of bullshit and each person took his nice guy persona a step further, just to see if we would call bullshit.

dude- we asked people that were best friends with him what they thought about him. what did you expect them to say?
"hey former ksu student gene keady, what do you think of oscar weber?"
"oh you mean oscar weber the guy that i've known for over thirty years and the guy that's going to be the best man at my wedding in three months? that oscar weber? oh yeah he's horrible. definitely don't pay him 1.5 million to go be your coach."

At least as Herm Edwards says, put your name on it, when it comes to sources.
Yeah, like "jugofsnyder" (Dean Jameson, struggling writer in western kansas) did.
FYI, his source was the rumor mill promulgated by Matt Suther, Will Spradling's dad and John Currie.

Can we just trade for Mike Davis while they are in town?
