Do you have to bury the top half?

if the mermaid was a viking you have to set it on fire

Obviously this is way more complicated than what I expected.

No.

I believe mermaids are actually ugly sea creatures that make the top halves of their body look beautiful. However, that is just a hex/spell. Do not believe you are talking to a beautiful woman with a fish lower body.

How are you going to eat underwater?
Title: Re: Is it cannibalism to eat a mermaid?

Well, you catch them, then you eat them.   I suspect that you would cook them just like any other fish.  The bottom part, that is.

If Saul is right, then it solves a bunch of problems.

Haven't you seen Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? The Merpeople. They are terrifying creatures.

i would not eat a mermaid, period.  why eat a mermaid when there's so much great regular food out there, like tacos?

Clams has a point.  This is all a bunch of "talk" if mermaids actually taste bad.

I don't know if eating a mermaid makes you a cannibal, but I guarantee you what catholic cannibals are eating on Fridays.

A lot depends on how you prepare them.

Well, to start, I want to make sure everyone knows that I am definitely not a lawyer.  However, when reading up on people eating mermaids, I believe past courts were known to issue fines.  So technically, not cannabalism as that punishment is usually much more severe.  But just so you know what you're getting into, I am not a lawyer and am not too up to date on this.  Wouldn't be surprised if Reagan passed something that changed this.

In all things cannibalism, better to be conservative when a situation is questionable.

Pffft, I was right.  That definitely sounds like some crap Reagan would come up with. YOU CAN'T LEGISLATE YOUR BELIEFS!!!

Logically, if its not cannibalism, then doing 'stuff' with the mermaid is beastiality.

This.  Mermaids are dirty, unclean creatures.  It is absolutely not cannibalism to eat a mermaid.  It is also absolutely not healthy to eat a mermaid.  It's about as safe as cooking and eating a Komodo dragon, per sources.

I've been told Mermaid can be good, but you have to just cook the hell out of it.  And it doesn't hurt to smother it in a sauce.  Those two things make me think its not very good though

Grose.  A centaur is part human and part horse.  Who would eat horse?  At least a mermaid is part fish, whose sole purpose in life is to be eaten.

Need some clarification on this.

Depends on your definition of "eating". For food purposes, after studying the ancient texts, it appears that they need to be prepared on a shingle. Like a carp. This would lead me to believe that common law would allow the species to be used for sustenance. On the other hand, if it's not for food, butts3 is correct and you, sir, are indeed a sick eff. It does beg the question, though, does it taste, "like fish"?     :dunno:

I use mermaid tail to make sushi, and neither I nor my friends have ever gotten sick from it.

Some Asians and the French eat horse fairly regularly.

Horse doesn't seem like it would have much fat at all.  Are you sure it wasn't cow meat or something?
