Did MHKRA just take a dip in eliteness? I wouldn't know, I've never flown "Great Lakes"
-
What happened? We kick those losers to the curb?

Which airline is the one with the picture of the moose on the plane?

They think ORD is on the horizon and don't want to reup because once thats here, theyre done.

Sad to see. :frown:

if it was great planes or AA to ORD, which would you choose? i'd take ORD. that great lakes thing can go kill itself in the back for all i care.
-
obviously ORD, but I don't see that happening.
great lakes was great for that neat little DEN connection. gonna miss that sucker :frown: (never used it btw)
-
sd list of airlines that can totally suck it and I don't care about: great lakes

feel free to pm me this article. I don't trust mm's source. I've got some pretty solid ones myself, and they say AA laughs at the notion of ORD gracing us with a connection. :frown:

quote from article in last friday's merc...
the city plans to keep working with american eagle to try to add more destinations to add to the three daily flights to dfw. van kuren said denver and kansas city would probably not be top priorities, since neither city is a big hub for the airline.
chicago is the primary destination that has been discussed by representatives from american eagle and the city, including mayor bob strawn at the press conference where he announced the third flight to dallas in december.
"we're going to continue what we've been doing, " van kuren said. "we believe with american eagle, we're meeting a lot of the needs of the community"
-
quote from article in last thursday's merc quoting manhattan airport elites...
the city plans to tell Great Lakes to suck it. Suck it right down on their air-bone. "we're going to tell Great Lakes to totally blow us, " van kuren said. "we believe with american eagle, we're meeting a lot of the needs of the community so Great Lakes can get down to what Great Lakes does best...sucking tons of ass."
-
yup i knew it. they suck from KC to Scott City and every where in between. suck it GLA.
-
To be fair, Van Kuren is a dumbass as well. But yea, GLA sucked hard. Constant flight delays/cancellations from planes breaking then rerouting the less important flights to account for broken planes.
-
anything better than sitting in termy B at DIA and looking up at the connections and seeing, "MANHATTAN, KS" as a destination?
gonna miss you, great lakes.
-
I would hope someone else would pick up the MHK-DIA route. Can come in handy in a pinch. The stops in McCook, NE are always a treat. I do like the GL pilots though (great sense of humor about their crappy airline), and the ability to stick my head in the aisle to read the avionics for much-appreciated back seat piloting as we climb out of MHK bound for the towering Rockies.
ps is there anything funner than second-guessing trained pilots with thousands of hours under their belts?

GL pilots are the pilots that flunked out of Seward County Community College and couldn't get a job crop dusting....so yes, second guessing them is pretty high on my agenda whenever I'm stuck in one of those piles.

ya i didn't realize that the pilots that fly the regionals (industry insider lingo) like the AA guys only need like 200 hrs of flytime to get a job.

Has anyone actually flown on a GL bird to Salina/Hays? Would love to have done this...

No way. You need I think 1,000-1,500+ hrs to become an airline pilot. You need to have a commercial license first, and some of those guys on GL may be only licensed commercially but they would only be allowed to co-pilot. So at least one of those dudes will have 1,500+ hrs. Not to mention 100+ hrs to fly at night. The multi-engine and turbine ratings would be needed for the planes they're flying, but those don't actually require hours to get, just an endorsement.

No way. You need "I THINK" ? GTFOOMF with what you think.

Blah blah blah, someone died, blah blah balh, pilots work long hours for little pay, blah blah blah more government regulation needed.

The legislation requires all airline pilots to log at least 1,500 hours of flight time before flying passengers, up from the current 250-hour minimum for newly hired co-pilots. The bill also boosts training, mandates the creation of a national database of pilot records to help airlines conduct background checks before hiring and aims to reduce pilot fatigue by directing the FAA to update rules on pilot duty hours.

You can read the quotes in your own post and determine that you were wrong. But just know that I lol'd like a maniac at you bringing this back up.
Also you are more than welcome to participate in the more recent DIA eliteness [additional] thread if you are prepared to play nice.
