feel free to pm me this article. I don't trust mm's source. I've got some pretty solid ones myself, and they say AA laughs at the notion of ORD gracing us with a connection.  :frown:

quote from article in last friday's merc...

the city plans to keep working with american eagle to try to add more destinations to add to the three daily flights to dfw. van kuren said denver and kansas city would probably not be top priorities, since neither city is a big hub for the airline.

chicago is the primary destination that has been discussed by representatives from american eagle and the city, including mayor bob strawn at the press conference where he announced the third flight to dallas in december.

"we're going to continue what we've been doing, " van kuren said. "we believe with american eagle, we're meeting a lot of the needs of the community"

quote from article in last thursday's merc quoting manhattan airport elites...

the city plans to tell Great Lakes to suck it.  Suck it right down on their air-bone.  "we're going to tell Great Lakes to totally blow us, " van kuren said. "we believe with american eagle, we're meeting a lot of the needs of the community so Great Lakes can get down to what Great Lakes does best...sucking tons of ass."

To be fair, Van Kuren is a dumbass as well.  But yea, GLA sucked hard.  Constant flight delays/cancellations from planes breaking then rerouting the less important flights to account for broken planes.

I would hope someone else would pick up the MHK-DIA route. Can come in handy in a pinch. The stops in McCook, NE are always a treat. I do like the GL pilots though (great sense of humor about their crappy airline), and the ability to stick my head in the aisle to read the avionics for much-appreciated back seat piloting as we climb out of MHK bound for the towering Rockies.

ps is there anything funner than second-guessing trained pilots with thousands of hours under their belts?

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

GL pilots are the pilots that flunked out of Seward County Community College and couldn't get a job crop dusting....so yes, second guessing them is pretty high on my agenda whenever I'm stuck in one of those piles.

ya i didn't realize that the pilots that fly the regionals (industry insider lingo) like the AA guys only need like 200 hrs of flytime to get a job.

No way. You need I think 1,000-1,500+ hrs to become an airline pilot. You need to have a commercial license first, and some of those guys on GL may be only licensed commercially but they would only be allowed to co-pilot. So at least one of those dudes will have 1,500+ hrs. Not to mention 100+ hrs to fly at night. The multi-engine and turbine ratings would be needed for the planes they're flying, but those don't actually require hours to get, just an endorsement.
