I intend to burn it out of my colon with Rum Punch, Dark and Stormy's, and Hendricks and Soda (with cucumbers) all night long. Don't want to do it, but feel like I have to. Safety first.

Well, I was just joking about the "induce vomit" bit, but a water main leak could seriously lead to microbial contamination. Odds are you are fine, but if you are going to be traveling, it really wouldn't be a bad idea to pick up some meds, just in case.

Tip for those Kansas Citians who also happen to be Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!): Don't go to the trouble of boiling your water and then use ice cubes from your ice cube maker to cool it down for drinking. In fact, you should turn your ice maker off and empty the ice.
-
Is my dog safe to drink this water? Dogs are a lot tougher than people.

Dude, you could just piss in the dog bowl, and your dog would be fine. They are very hearty creatures.

I wouldn't even use the water to fill your toilet. shut off the main and abandon the city to the chuds.

Actually, drinking piss is safe for anyone (provided the piss came from someone without a bladder infection)

If the pressure inside the pipe is higher than the pressure outside the pipe, how the eff does bacteria get in?
When the main breaks, there is a loss of pressure.

then oxygen masks drop from the ceiling and that's how the bacteria gets in

I honestly cannot remember the last time I drank tap water.
But the scene at Lifetime Fitness this morning was classic. Trash bags over the water fountains and everyone in there had their own personal Evian/Smart Water bottle.

The artsy kids whose daddies didn't love them from my high school seemed to love KCMO. So you've got that working for you, SS.

If the pressure inside the pipe is higher than the pressure outside the pipe, how the eff does bacteria get in?
When the main breaks, there is a loss of pressure.
Still higher inside than outside. No way it's less than atmosphere.

I would imagine they have to shut the water off, lowering the pressure to atmospheric. I could be wrong, though.
-
Ya, I get that. But it's not like they purged the entire system of all the potentially contaminated water. Basically, boil order = CYA.
