how long before Currie is mentioned as a replacement?

It could be pretty high, but he was tied to both of those hires as well. To placate the NCAA, they may want to go completely outside the tree.
That's me hoping more than anything.

I may be the only one, but I'd be willing to sacrifice Sean if it meant keeping Currie.

In fairness, the people on our Scout site would want LHC Bill Snyder (in a dual capacity), Jon Wefald, the two old Muppet guys that sat in the balcony and made fun of people, or Ronald Reagan.

Just need to cremate OB. Level playing field achieved.

In that case, we could just throw both up into the air and see who travels the farthest.

@CNSCasey definitely mutual interest there . More than likely UT ends up with somebody more prominent though

UT can do better than ADJC. ADJC hasn't established himself as a top-level AD yet. Hell, he hasn't even had a big coaching hire. Still waiting for oscar Pearl.

Keeping Deb from bolting was a pretty big hire.

Very good. Bill's favorite movie is Pinnochio, perhaps he could be smiling and doing the voices with his fists inside them?

Why leave NU now, when you probably have a 5 year (at least) window to dominate the Buckeyes?

He's an Ohio State alum and would be completely rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) to not take that job if Ohio State offered it. I'm not sure Ohio State is interested in him, though.
-
Pretty sure an AAU school would expect their coach to be, at least, semi-literate.
-

Yeah, Bo would murder his brother for that job, but Ohio State probably doesn't want some maniac who spits in everyone's faces and pisses his pants roaming the sidelines.

Plus, the crying.

It depends on what kind of sanctions OSU gets, but things are looking pretty bleak there..
I think he'd be better served to wait it out for 4-5 years at a great place like Nebraska, and then be the guy who steps in after the sanctions are over.. They are looking at penalties that are more than likely going to be stiffer than USC's, I don't think you leave Nebraska to step into a situation like that.. If he was at UCONN or even a place like Texas Tech, then yeah, I could see him doing that kind of Kiffin did UT for USC (when they had a similar black cloud over the program) think it'd be a bad move being at a place like Nebraska..

For us it's definitely Texas and then ku. Just curious how you Michiganders view things.

Excellent question Wabash.
I wonder if MisG understands just how huge, yet misunderstood the CTR is??

The sanctions will buy the next coach a lot of time, and that job just doesn't come open every 4-5 years. If you want the job, you have to take it when it's offered.
-
Why would Ohio St. want to hire someone who couldn't win the Big 12 in any of his 4 seasons as head coach?
-
If offered, Bo needs to jump yesterday.
I mean, in the Big XII, kids choose from playing in hay field 1, hay field 2, or some racist river city so why not go to NU. In the Big 10, though....
I just don't see Nubb doing there what they did here.

OSU and it isn't even close, in football you think about OSU everyday of the year.. You watch all their games pay attention to their recruiting, etc,etc... MSU isn't even really considered a rivalry to us except for when they beat us (because their fans get so freaking annoying) which, up until the RR era happened like once or twice a decade.. They are like an annoying chiuhaha (sp?), always yapping and nipping at your heels, but harmless.. ND is generally considered a bigger rivalry to us than MSU, except for when we lose to MSU like I said, losing to them sucks worse than anything..
In basketball, MSU and to a much lesser extent Duke are probably our only 2 rivalries.. Don't really care at all about OSU BBall at all even though they have been good since Matta arrived.. MSU in basketball is just below OSU in football in terms of passion/hatred (although, I admit I do like Izzo and think he is a fantastic/class act coach)..
-
that's awesome because our sister school is duke therefore our new rival is the Michigan Wolverines (only in hoops).
and like that, a budding rivalry was born. Wolverine v Cat? hmmm.
last i checked cats feed on wolverine carcus like it's going out of style

Our white guys vs. your Cubans ??
It's gonna be like the 'Bay Of Pigs', except like the opposite of that, so not really like that at all..

One time, I saw a wildcat having sex with a wolverine. The wolverine did not appear to be a willing partner.

b12 is awesome cuz we used to have colorado. ku is chiuhaha of b12: not football, not even combo little bro.

Hahaha. Yeah, I hear you. Little brothers in-state that want to be your rivals can be so annoying!
We're pretty much all Texas all the time down here. I honestly can't remember the last time I didn't wake up in the morning and the first thing on my mind wasn't our next CTR in football or basketball!
-
It's tough being us, I mean there's Texas all wanting to be our rivals and being :curse: because we kick their ass so often.
Now we've got Michigan all bowed up and wantin a taste of the futility Texas feels at their core.

Think there's anyway Frank can send Mike Alden to a non-accredited school in Miami so that he eventually ends up as the AD of UT?
-
Anyone who didn't think that Currie would'nt be hanging out back by the stage door on that gig is flat out dumb.
It's a 100 million dollar athletic department. Yeah, they're going to be in some NCAA trouble. But they fill a 100,000 seat stadium. There's only 2 sports anybody really cares about in the entire state, Vol Football and Lady Vol Basketball, the Titans come in a distant 3rd. Tennessee has 4 million more people than Kansas, and the Knoxville MSA is nearly 800K people.
Hello . . . Hello . . .

Step 1: Currie leaves for Tennessee.
Step 2: Bill steps down for "health concerns" before a new AD is hired.
Step 3: Sean is named interim head coach.
Step 4: Sean beats KU.

Let's be proactive and trade him straight-up for some extra orange/white checkerboard turf and use that for the EZSOD.

IMO the only 2 things that keep Currie from moving on to Tenn are: 1. Still relatively new to the AD position and has not made a coaching hire. 2. Ties to Pearl.
Other little things to think about: If Dooley isn't pooping tiffany cufflinks in the next 2 years Vol Nation will demand his firing and will fully support it. Counterpoint, VolNation will come unhinged if the replacement isn't incredible, and will immediately blame the AD.
The demand to win will be more intense, they're not the "just happy to be here" types at Tennessee like we have at K-State. The SEC rivalries are just so much more intense as compared to the Big 12. It's not even close. They all hate each other and Tenn has been embroiled with controversy and accousations with Florida, Bama, LSU, and they've also got Georgia and South Carolina just down the road, it's nuts.

I'm all for Currie leaving if it means we can find an AD with a large enough nutsack to fire Bill immediately.
And when I say immediately, I want it to be the primary focus of his job pitch to Schulzy. And when he gets the job, he calls Bill right away and tells him to clean out his office.
-
email campaign should start right now.
"John,
We understand that you're a Tennessee guy and that this is your dream job. We appreciated your time here, and ask that you do us a favor and fire Snyder and his entire staff before you leave. We'll make a statue in your honor where Steve Dave will crush ballsacks and taints before future games.
Sincerely,
Everybody"

Step 1: Currie leaves for Tennessee.
Step 2: Bill steps down for "health concerns" before a new AD is hired.
Step 3: Sean is named interim head coach.
Step 4: Sean beats KU.
Step 5: Sean is officially named head coach.
It sucks that this isn't ridiculous :frown:
the bbs'ing oppys will be epic tho.

What am I missing here?
currie to tennessee, dumbass.
i mean, really, did you need someone to fill in the blanks for you?
i mean, really, did you need someone to shake it after you peed?
i mean, really, did you need to wear a bike helmet to cross the street?
i mean, really, did you need help getting out of your mother's womb?
i mean, really.
really.
Yes, depends, no, unsure

Currie sent out one of his AD update letters today about how much ass he has kicked in 2 years, etc. Bet he blind cc'd his pals at UT on it. :frown:

Good luck at Tennessee John.

Tucks would pony up if Sean takes over....Bill is destined for the AD position. Kansas State nepotism begins to rival that of any self respecting autocratic regime...

As of today the top 4 candidates for the UT AD job are....
Castiglione, Radakovich, Blackburn, and Hyman

Come on, Currie can't fire Snyder now . . . get real.
I think Currie's overall lack of tenure and not having hired any coaches at KSU is going to be an issue.
I don't see why Castiglione would go to Tenn. From a financial perspective OU is just as big as Tenn.

Currie can't fire Snyder now. Nor should he. Yeah, it's funny to bash Snyder, but he's a good coach. And, like it or not, we've actually got a pretty good crop of players. If we take a step back this year and don't make a bowl game, fire his old ass. But, if we win 7 or 8 games (possible), and make it back-to-back bowl games, there won't be too much to complain about IMO.
With respect to Curry, I really hope that his tenure and lack of experience are huge mitigating factors. Yeah, the guy can fundraise. But, with a fanbase like Tennessee, won't any AD be able to fundraise? I would imagine that experience in hiring and managing coaches is a big priority for them, so that they don't run into Pearl/Kiffin 2.0 in a few years.

Unless they are dumbasses, Pearl 2.0 is exactly what they should be hoping for.

If Synder doesn't win 6 this season Curry should fire Synder
-
eff 6 wins, I want no less than 8. We win 8 (regular season) games and I will feel fine with Snyds sticking around. 6-7 wins and Cosh has to go. Less than 6 wins and we implode the whole thing and try our luck with whatever staff we can bring in.
-
I want someone who is not afraid to change the name of the stadium to the highest rated recruit that is committed to Texas (in an effort to actually steal those recruits from Texas).
If that doesn't work, then I want someone who is not afraid to sell the name to the highest bidder rather than give it to some dude who already has a highway named after him.

I actually think this was the more K-Stateo move than naming the stadium, but taken together they are K-Stateo to the max.
"Well, when I look back on things. It has meant a great deal to have both a stretch of highway and a football stadium named after me."

Sorry Mods, combine with Tenn AD Out thread if you'd like.
-
I still think what Currie has done here will go largely unnoticed by some of the big boys. He's probably blacklisted from the Tenn search for his involvement in the Kiffin and Pearl hires.
The fact that he hasn't hired/fired a single coach in his short-time at KSU is going to be a problem for him. Until he makes a few hires that pan out, I think he's our guy.
You can always find a good CFO to run your AD. Currie has a way of squeezing water from a rock in some regards, but a lot of the schools mentioned don't really have a big need to find money in the couch cushions like we do. However, they do have to have a guy capable of wooing big talent or finding good coaches, and the only hires on his resume (as an associate AD) have been tainted by NCAA scandal.
That's not to say he won't be looked at, but I think he's a good 2-3 years away from being considered a real candidate at some of these big schools. I also think that if push came to shove, Schulz would find a way to compensate him adequately so we'd be sheltered from most lateral moves.

No argument. I just think he's a couple of years from making their short lists.
He's an 'on the radar' guy now. He's a shortlist guy when he hires Mike Leach after Snyder retires.

Would you take any of the following as an alternative to Leach?
1.) Mike Belotti
2.) Rich "Bending" Rodriguez
3.) Urban Meyer
4.) Tommy Bowden
5.) Mark Mangino

If he hires any guy on that list, aside from Mangino, I think that's a pretty solid hire considering most of those guys (excluding Meyer because, duh) are probably better than the job.
Mangino isn't a 'Wow' hire. His road back to HC is through the WAC/Sun Belt/Mountain West. Or some BCS school that is in much more dire straits than we are.
But that's beside the point. 1, 2, and 4 on that list would be solid hires. 1 and 2 would be home runs.
