Horrible news (Hornet related)

I got stung by 4 hornets at the same time when I was a kid.  I was hiding under the porch playing hide and seek and they got super mad about it.  (one sting was on my head!)  Interestingly though, my favorite NBA team would soon become the Charlotte Hornets. Crazy world we live in.

What wasn't to like? The colors? Nope. Mugsy? Grand mama? Alonzo? Curry? Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

I liked them, too, but they didn't have Jordan so they could never win it all.

How hard could it be to find a hornets' nest in a garage? Have you checked along where the wall meets the ceiling? You need to get on top of this before they multiply and have like 10 nests.

I worked at a hardware store during high school, showing people where the wasp killer stuff was located was my favorite activity. People hate those things!

We went and bought 3 more cans today, and the first hardware store was sold out.  The guys were like "Yep, lots of those things this year" (in a very thick Minnesotan accent).

i make a great hornet stew.  basically what you do is you use a ton of the spray on the hive and kill all the hornets.  harvest the hornets from the hive then soak them in melted butter and shallots with a small sprig of thyme.  slowly add flour and make a decent roux, pour in some heavy cream and old bay seasoning. stir and slowly add potatoes (cubed) and carrots.  simmer for an hour until the stew has thickened.  serve with hot cross buns and a cold glass of milk. enjoy today but enjoy even more tomorrow, it gets better after a day in the fridge.

Yup have killed a few rattlesnakes in my day, but only when they posed a danger to myself, others, or dogs.  The ones we see on the road we might like pull over and mess with but we don't kill them.

true story: i was a WHOREnet for halloween one year in college. i put on this really slutty outfit and then one of those fishing nets with the weights on the end of it over my head and partied.
