the absolute worst thing that could happen would be for us to beat ku.  oscar is gonna push hard for playing hard for one more game just to save his own ass i fear.
If they play well it will be in spite of oscar.  Buuuut we're probably going to lose by 20 so it's a moot point.

I think they should just leave everything alone. Who really gives a crap if the game gets over 15 min earlier?
Just install the rules for any game starting after 7:10 CST

Well that sucks.  I guess that makes me a low hanging grape  Maybe if I practice real hard I can be one of the cool bros on a message board

My Wish List for the next head basketball coach.

1. Mitch Richmond - Assistant
2. Doug Gottlieb - Assistant
3. Jeff Capel Hell no.
1. Brad Underwood
3c. Archie Miller

Thoughts?
Frank Martin
Mike Rice
Bobby Knight
Don't care who is the head.  I just want them to beat the crap out of this group of players until they leave.  Then we can hire Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart with a bunch of assistants with no morals on the recruiting trail.

He also wouldn't have failed before at a similar job.  Weber got a lot more time, likability aside, at Illinois because he had succeeded at SIU immediately prior.  Just needed to get his high major legs.

again, i wonder just how much oscar really failed in the big ten. at least relative to expectations. the big ten he walked into is much different than the big ten he left. when he was coaching at illinois, the big ten was typically the fourth or fifth best league in the country. it was that way throughout his tenure. in his final two years (and the ensuing two years after) the big ten was the toughest conference. no matter what he does, he's not surpassing izzo, bo, beilein or matta. all those coaches are more talented and have better, more established programs. in his final season, the year everything went wrong, he played the 7th, 3rd, 10th, 23rd, 28th, 2nd, 23rd and 7th best teams in a six-week stretch to close the season. things went poorly...but it wasn't unsurprising. he didn't have a top 15 caliber team that can hang with those teams, especially not on the road.

this year, it's the same story. by season's end, k-state...a team that on paper isn't a top 25 team...will have played 11 teams rated 25th or better in big 12 play. they've won four of the seven so far, and with a team that's in apparent disarray. the tcu and texas tech losses...awful...obviously. and again, oscar sucks, he's unlikable, his sideline demeanor is the worst of any coach i've ever seen, etc.

but going forward, k-state...with oscar...with any coach...is not going to be a consistent, every year top-5 team in this league. it just isn't going to happen.

That's just not true at all. I mean, literally, our last coach just did that very thing.

Frank Martin's Big 12 was far easier than the Big 12 of the present and future.
Far easier?  Mizzou was a top 25 team, UT was probably better, Baylor was relatively similar, A&M was solid.  The only major change would probably be ISU's emergence from mediocrity to not as shitty.  It's not like we have any great teams in the Big 12 right now.  2009-10 Cats would win this conference.

I think iwu is better than he's getting credit for on this webpage
Definitely
Well he isn't the worst forward to ever play at Kstate probably  :Ugh:

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: Jevon Thomas

I like Jevon more than I should because he takes shots and attacks the rim. It doesn't bother me that much that he's not effective at it, because it feels like he should be effective at it. I can fully acknowledge that he isn't very good at basketball, but I really want to see him get better and feel like he can.
Yeah, this is what I'm getting at. He seems like he's almost there to a lot of people even though he sucks at getting to the rim and shooting (and does both very rarely).

I don't think he sucks a getting to the rim. I actually think he excels at it, he has the skill set for it in spades. He needs to be more aggressive. Also with the lack of shooters on the team driving lanes aren't always open. I think the staff has to be careful with asking him to do to much. I think his head gets under water at times.
He doesn't have an issue getting into the lane.  The problems start once he gets in there.  I might be able to count the times he has finished a layup with any resemblance of contact in two years on one hand.  He bad

Is the Tech game a must win? Ever since the mid season national championship game things have kind of gone down hill. It happens tho after you put everything you have into one game and your wildest dreams come true and you get to dance on tables and sell tshirts and dvd's. Its hard to get up for the rest of your games. I'm happy for you guys that you at least had your moment. Just because it was in February doesn't diminish the fact that you beat the Big 12 Champs by 3 in overtime while playing your best game of the year and they played their worst. So good luck tonight and hopefully you pull out the w so that you can hear your name called on selection sunday.
Thanks.  Hopefully, we don't need a last second shot to beat Tech tonight.  How embarrassing would that be.

he did a good job catching the ball when ku showed about the same level of respect for his game as i have.
Why would you not like DJamer?  He is our best post defender and plays harder than anyone on the team.  He is a perfect role player for us.  I am sure you have mentioned it already based on the thread title, but I don't want to take the time to find it.

14
SF99, you don't see a difference in how he played?  Not talking production, but assertiveness with shots and drives?  If not, you should take some time to reflect and rewatch some games(roughly 3.5 seasons worth).
I don't want Will to look to drive and score ever.  If it's there then take it.  If not, back it out and run the offense.  He played great last night, I loved what he did.  I don't think you can ever count on him to score in the lane consistently.  I just want him to take open shots and hit them.  I think he has taken a lot of open shots in his career, the difference last night was he made them.  I feel like his D has been pretty underrated and steady for the last 2 years.  He has played great help side D and fairly decent on the ball for 2 years now.

15
Seeing Will play like he played last night makes it kind of infuriating to think what he could have done with his career if he wasn't so afraid to shoot for most of it. So don't do that.

felt the same way.  he was almost as skilled as a freshman as he is now.  he should have had a lot more games like this.

very unfortunate way to look at it
He just played one of the best games of his career.  He should just do that every time.

Thanks, Ethan.  Have any funny or interesting stories about your recruitment?

Thanks to all you guys welcoming me! I have other football offers, but the one thing that stuck out to me was the family atmosphere. The only thing really that I guess has been interesting in recruiting is all the speculations of me today. I have people accuse me of lying on recruiting websites and if Scout.com would have ever listened to my emails or ESPN.com would have updated my profile with my current offers and stats this would not have been as big of a surprise to everyone. I made a couple All-American games but couldnt play in them because my dad was diagnosed with cancer and had major surgery so I turned down the offers so I could be with him and make sure everything was okay. My dad was able to go with me on my official which was really important to me and coach Lattimore and Snyder spent a lot of time with us and made us feel at home. I was also able to see snow for the third time in my entire life which was pretty cool.
Ethan Calhoun, you're my hero.  You sound like a great addition to the team.  Best of luck in everything you do and welcome to Kstate.

.500 in confy gets us in.

I would imagine this would be the case, because by doing so we would have beaten two of RPI  #25 (UT), #9 (ISU), or #55 (Baylor), and found a way to not slip up vs. TCU and @ TT.  I don't think we should have any expectation to win on the road vs anyone but TT (and while imo that is a reasonable expectation, having to have that as a reasonable expectation is kind of pathetic).

02/08/14 vs. Texas
02/10/14 vs. Kansas
02/15/14 at Baylor
02/19/14 vs. TCU
02/22/14 at Oklahoma
02/25/14 at Texas Tech
03/01/14 vs. Iowa State
03/03/14 at Oklahoma State
03/08/14 vs. Baylor
Yeesh, really could have used a W yesterday.  I will feel a lot better if we knock off UT next week.  If we lose, we may get an extra home game this year.

Those teams were completely different..good grief guys
I understand that.  That kind of goes without saying.  We started 2 frosh today and played 2 others.  Ironically, the guys that pissed down their legs yesterday were Frank's guys.  I'm still trying to figure out why Frank would have won the game yesterday. Nobody has answered the effing question.

Agreed. Although I like Frank, he is not and will not be better than Kruger.

We're just analyzing who would have won this one game, guys.  Chill.
As tight as they called the game today, Frank wouldn't have had a starter on the floor at the end of the game.  Frank lost to a 19-14 WVU Huggins coached team at Intrust 2 years ago in OT.

This game wasn't at Intrust.

More like super dumb#00 amirite?
Please explain why Frank would have won this game today genius?  I gave you an example of Franks only game vs West Virginia.  The game happen to be against a WVU team with a similar record and it was a virtual home game for us.  He lost in OT.

The perimeter was locked down today. MC is dumb for saying we got lots of good looks today. They shutdown half of our offense from the perimeter (southwell, sprads, foster, etc.).
Offense was not the issue today.  We shoot over 50% from the field and score 80 if we hit our free throws.  Dumb TO's down the stretch were huge but our help D on Staten and consistently going over screens 30 ft from the basket on a guy that made his 5th or 6th 3 of the season was our problem.

Had a day outwith little cDub. Did WVU play well, did KSU play poorly, or a mixture?
Staten shot 23 free throws and rarely crossed the 3 pt line without drawing a foul.  Outside of the 37 free throw attempts by WVU the game was fairly even.  Kstate crumbled down the stretch.
