I'd say kougs wasn't around for ksupowercat or wildcatfans.com. I think wildcatfans.com was the best all-around because it was small, but it had a good group of regular visitors that didn't talk a lot of crap. That's when LBuff was actually cool. The board was short-lived though. I was mainly a reader on Austin360 and didn't post much. When ksupowercat and wildcatfans merged though it made for a good board. What the hell ever happened to Sooner04? Is he still on soonerfans? I know 24 is still around.

Didn't ksupowercat use the @ as in ksupowerc@t?  My favorite thread there was the raging debate over the lavendar jersies (pre-Wooldridge's botched attempt at bringing them back for the ku game).

http://web.archive.org/web/19990128150443/www.ksupowercat.com/bbs/ksubasketball/

I wish we could still read these threads.  There could be some interesting conversations from those days.

I remember GoBig12 before Austin360 took it over.  That was back when NUBB was NUBB.  "KSU takes $8 million from the Big 12!"  The big best flame wars were against the Sooners at the time, not Squawks or Huskers.  Boomer Sooner and his poor sexually abused dog locked in the basement.  TexasSooner.  D-Mike.  Girly Fighter.  And of course, Gatos' stories of Green Country and his neighbors (can't remember the guy's name; his wife was "Big Red").

That was fun reading.

I still think "Winbush vs. Sproles" would hold its own against the best of the best, all-time. Between the large crown on Wagner Field to the double-digit number effect on the apparent size of a player, that was a classic if I ever saw one.

"KSU takes $8 million from the Big 12!"

Ahh yes, NUBB.  Don't forget his friend Cousin NUFB as well.  Nothing speaks more to the value of a Nebraska education.

When did you start up on GoBig 12/Austin 360 Maniac?  I'm thinking it was '97 for me.  My god, almost 10 years!  The name I remember (besides those mentioned) is OUthouse, err I mean OUrhouse.  Anyone seen that name slumming around anywhere?

"Winbush vs. Sproles" started off great for about the first 3-5 pages, then got stupid as some folks were mindlessly bumping the thread with pointless comments unrelated to the game-by-game updates of the "great race".  "Moulin Rouge" suffered the same fate.

I started in the summer of 1998.  Lurked for most of that season.  My first post was a response to NUBB who claimed that the BCS was forced to take the top 2 at-large teams, and I found an ESPN link that said the exact opposite.  Ironically, if NUBB was right, we'd been in the BCS in both 1998 and 1999.  *Sigh*

My first major thread was the "Nebraska takes $8 million from the Big 12" one where only 3000 corn went to the 1996 Orange Bowl, and the OB people were on record that they were afraid the same thing might happen to KSU after the 98 Championship Game.  About two dozen corn swooped down on me and called me "classless!" for that post.  One guy I recall saying "I was going to congratulate you on getting Josh Buhl to commit, but after reading this thread...forget it!"  Then I found a Topeka C-J news story that confirmed my post, and the NUBB wars were in full-force.  That was right after he called you, SoCalCat, NCCat and Gatos out by name for not posting the night of the Alamo Bowl loss, even though most of you were in San Antonio at the time.

What a dork.

NUBB, Secure NUBB, Cousin NUFB, nom de guerre, Husker88, Big12sportsfan, the list of NUBB sock puppets had to be over a dozen long before greedoor and pinkslip ever showed up on the scene.  I wonder whatever became of that guy?

    The very best.
I miss the days when smack directed at KSU was in the form of "HAHAH! You didn't get selected for a BCS bowl!!" RCJH!!!!
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

For a johnny-come-lately school with no tradition, less than a decade ago would be 'back in the day'.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Goldie, you're a fan of a johnny-come-never school with absolutely no tradition, so shut your @ss and go back to the corner.

You seem a little angry. I think its because you support a team that has never won a national championship... in anything.... ever...

Haven't even come close really.

No, you should for making a dumbass statement.

Remember, NC's really don't apply to you because you weren't even really human the last time ku won it.    Since then, you've come close once, only to be embarrassed by a lesser talented team.   Don't even go to football.   You couldn't even come close.

Does anyone else go back to the pre-Austin 360 days?  I don't even remember the name of the board (if you want ot call it that), but it was formed when the idea of the Big 12 conference was being discussed and refered to it as the "Waylon and Willie Cold Beer and Chili Conference".  Damn I'm old.

Thanks to Rusty for letting me know this place was back up and running...MJ will remember that I loved this board and the crowd before "the changeover".

Fatty, I'm disappointed you didn't email me about this!

nation!!!  no bitching allowed about how you didn't know this board was up.  any true ksu fan would have picked up on the "i just made a great point on ksufans.com" posts.

but go pry witch and the mismanagement man away from powercat and all will be forgiven.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."
