"Winbush vs. Sproles" started off great for about the first 3-5 pages, then got stupid as some folks were mindlessly bumping the thread with pointless comments unrelated to the game-by-game updates of the "great race". "Moulin Rouge" suffered the same fate.
I started in the summer of 1998. Lurked for most of that season. My first post was a response to NUBB who claimed that the BCS was forced to take the top 2 at-large teams, and I found an ESPN link that said the exact opposite. Ironically, if NUBB was right, we'd been in the BCS in both 1998 and 1999. *Sigh*
My first major thread was the "Nebraska takes $8 million from the Big 12" one where only 3000 corn went to the 1996 Orange Bowl, and the OB people were on record that they were afraid the same thing might happen to KSU after the 98 Championship Game. About two dozen corn swooped down on me and called me "classless!" for that post. One guy I recall saying "I was going to congratulate you on getting Josh Buhl to commit, but after reading this thread...forget it!" Then I found a Topeka C-J news story that confirmed my post, and the NUBB wars were in full-force. That was right after he called you, SoCalCat, NCCat and Gatos out by name for not posting the night of the Alamo Bowl loss, even though most of you were in San Antonio at the time.
What a dork.
NUBB, Secure NUBB, Cousin NUFB, nom de guerre, Husker88, Big12sportsfan, the list of NUBB sock puppets had to be over a dozen long before greedoor and pinkslip ever showed up on the scene. I wonder whatever became of that guy?
