I know DeArmond is MU's beat writer, but come on...

Oh, and despite Hannah's best, his team still lost.

Yeah, the kid played well. However, he did not show any maturity what so ever in the loss. He and Mike Anderson both acted like children who didn't get the treat they wanted.  It reminded me a lot of how Colon acts sometimes..

The 5-11 Hannah took the long arm of Kansas State’s 7-foot-3 Jason Bennett across his neck under the basket at one point (referee Brad Ferrie called no foul) and kept right on driving into the land of the giants all night long.
I like how he give the officials name.  What a jerk

I've really never had any bad feelings about mizzou, I always enjoyed them playing out of their minds and knockin off ku, but I think we're seeing the beginning of a new rivalry in bball. They're a bunch of whiny little pussies.
Let's just hope they can manage to keep games competitive in yrs to come with the huge gap in coaching/recruiting ability.

Yeah, I liked how they said they gave the game away in Columbia because they fouled us alot and we out-rebounded the cr#p out of them.  Then Marshall Brown stepped forward after this one and said they got out-rebounded..."this one is on us".  They must've given this one away too.  Generally, I think what they are trying to say is that we beat the cr#p out of them, twice.  They are just searching for the right words.

Try attending a game at The Paige sometime. Misery fans are the least knowledgeable b-ball fans in the country! They piss and moan about EVERY call against their beloved tiggers. It's almost comical! They truly believe their team can do no wrong.

Just like every teams fan base.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Yeah, every fanbase says that about other teams, especially teams they don't like very much.  There were several posts on Tigerboard about how we booed everything.

I'm a fan of whichever writer overplays the situation.  The more out of proportion and overblown, the better.

Example: After the Cal game that we got destroyed in.  "WILL K-STATE CANCEL THE SEASON?  K-state hoops in dire straights with no hopes of recovery.  Talk of cancelling the men's basketball program abound, and possibility of firing Huggins."

Another example:
"K-STATE BASKETBALL BEATS CHICAGO ST?  Will they go unchecked all the way to the national championship?  Is a top 5 ranking warranted?  More on page 5."

Drives readers nuts, but brings a LOT of attention to the article.  I always get a giggle out of it.

serious question.  why does every newpaper feel like they need to write their own little game story?  they all are basically the same, why not just steal the ap story and have the beat writer churn out pure features, recruiting, and team reports/notes stuff.  it would be way better that way.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

Newspapers have to justify the existence of their writers at games. It's sad but true. Gamers have shrunk in size over the years - probably in relevance, too. But it's something the industry does, which is probably why the industry is in such disarray right now.

But I don't think all of our gamers read alike. I'd like to think mine read a little differently, a little more feature-y than the rest. That's my aim, anyway.

Not everyone feels this way. I like reading all the different articles from the star, eagle and capital journal

but i do like jeff's notes/extra tidbits section the most.

that's all fine and good Jeff, but I'd like to know how the KC Star can justify having the size of the staff they do when there really aren't any articles in it anymore since the new USA Today crap format came around.

these guys used to write.  now they "snippet"

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I read JMart, but only for his impeccable use of punctuation.  He's a sage when it comes to commas.

J-Mart, how come you all at the Eagle haven't gone to those weekly video deals?

I guess they do prove those guys were meant for print journalism, but I think you could pull off the video deal.
