This game might be cinched already for the Cats: Kevin Keitzman just said on air (paraphrase): "I really like what Mike Anderson is doing right now; he's doing a heckuva a job."

This comes on the heels of him making the exact same comment Greg McDermott just a couple days before KSU played them.

Done and done.

KK, I appreciate your passion and opinion.  I am no Clent Stewart lover...however, I have to say, the team does much better at getting into an offense when he is in the lineup than when Young or Maybank are in the lineup.  In that sense, Stewart has become the glue.  His defensive footwork has improved dramatically.  He really sucked through the non-con at moving his feet and constantly watched quick guys blow right by him.  However, he has improved alot in this area.  His 3 pt shooting has been fairly good in conference.  Look, he is no playmaker, as we would like a point to be, and he seldom sets up others, but, neither does Young or Maybank.  I like what Maybank can do defensively because of his long arms and aggressiveness, and Young's quickness can cause problems, although I would like to see him show some solid footwork on D instead of just attack and try to recover.  Right now, Stewart gives us the best chance to win because he gets the offense started, and can contribute when he is forced to on O and his confidence is improving to where he is starting to penetrate.  His D is no longer the liability it once was.  We are 9 deep right now, and Huggins juggles combinations throughout games trying to keep the D fresh and find combinations of talents to produce W's.  It has worked against those we must beat so far...lets just hope that continues and their confidence improves to where they can get a W against those we don't think they can beat now.

taylor was guarded by stewart/young combo.  stewart fouled him a coupla times, as did young.

or you could have watched the game.

How about this for a truce:

Clent did well enough vs. MU last time to not lose us the game, even though his assist & turnover stats sucked.

clent is arguably the best option for pg this season at ksu.

he sucks in the absolute, but in the relative he's good enough.

sometimes i think all of you (don´t mean to exclude myself, just easier that way) are idiots.  yes, obviously stewart´s assist #s are going to be lower than most other "point guards" have.  huggins has been pretty much running the offense through hoskins for at least the last 10 games.  he is doing a decent job of playin his role, which has been to shoot.

and yes he turns the ball over too much.  he always has.  but not because he is a poor ball handler.  he takes pretty good care of the ball.  he just makes some bad decisions passing.  which no doubt part of the reason huggins has our forwards key the offense.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

that's clent in a nutshell.

he's good at managing the offense, when hoskins is the one running it.

he's a good ball handler, when he's not making bad decisions with the ball.

he's a good shooter, when he's not guarded.

he's good on defense, except when the guy he is guarding scores.

he's a good rebounder, except when there are nine other guys on the court.

I think this all comes back to what was so well illustrated by Fats earlier...stats mean jacque schitt.

Clent's a winner.

Actually, fatty just left out an incredibly important stat.  FAn pointed it out.

"He played pretty well in the Missouri game, and that kinda got him going for us."

I enjoy Kat Kid's vehement dislike of Stew/Rain Man.  It sure is entertaining.

Thanks, KK.

Last year stew was pretty solid because he didn't cost us any games.

This year he is not costing us games and he's contributing solidly on the offensive end.  More so than young or maybank.

So dumb.

 :banghead:
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

What matters more?  Stats.....or W's?

I'm convinced with Clent handling the ball at the end of the A&M game, we're 5-1.

Nope.

I'm not so sure about that, but I'm confident without Clent's scoring vs MU and possibly NU we might be 2-4.

I understand that numbers are important, and KK has brought very good numbers to the discussion.  I just don't think they always tell the whole story.  Of course I (wrongly) made that arguement for quite some time defending Wooly, so I might as well shut up now. :)
