"They treat their players very well there and the campus was beautiful," said Odom. "I can't say enough about their facilities, they were top of the line and the funny thing is they're talking like they weren't good at all because they're getting all new facilities in 2008."

-Clifton Odom on ku

Best football program in the state, and it just continues to improve.

39-20.

ku's recruiting class is shaping up nicely.  We are ranked 48th right now with 17 commitments.  K-State is 40th with 29 commitments.

congratulations BMW!!  High praise from 2 star Odom and since his only other visit so far has been to Wyoming then that certainly means something....or I guess.

LOL at "best program in the state"...I guess when you have had 1 winning season in conference play in the last 20 years and two wins over your in-state non-rival in the last 15 years it definitely qualifies you to have a better football program than Wichita State.

OMG. ku recruiting isn't scaring ANYONE.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I don't think I've ever seen a ku football thread on any board not named phog.net that doesn't eventually end in fat jokes.

congratulations?  But you failed grotesquely to see the point I made.  YOU were going on and on about how some prospect was enamoured w/ the facilities at ku...I merely pointed out that he has only visited Kansas and Wyoming.  Get it yet?  At this point in time ku's facilities have been compared to...drum roll please...Wyoming's.  Get it now?

Do you mean a head coach who in 5 years could not accomplish what Prince did this season which was at least a .500 record in conference play?  Congratulations on beating an injury riddled KSU team in your bowl game vs. your "non-rival"...it's all you got to hang your hat on.  You were that guy last year who would take the "results on the field" pertaining to the bowl game...so be it.  Looking forward to next year.

Injury riddled?  Was that your excuse when you got bitch-slapped 37-10 by Rutgers?

You are proud about a win over a crapty houston team in a crapty bowl while having a crapty losing record in the Big 12 and needing a win over a crapty 1AA to become bowl eligible?  Again, 5 years and NEVER a .500 record in conference play for Mangino and 11 years for beaks in Big 12 w/ out .500.

I didn't make an excuse for Rutgers.  Rutgers is better.  We had Watts, Kyle Wiliams, Figurs, etc.  Rutgers lost 2 games..not 5 in just conference play.  I predicted that Rutgers would kick our ass.

As for Kansas.  Kansas was a crappy team.  I predicted ku would beat us going into the game because w/ out Figurs and w/ out a healthy Nelson ku would put everybody w/ in 10 yards of the football and that is exactly what happened.  It's no mystery if a team doesn't respect you vertically.  Nothing surprised me in the ku game..nothing and it was based on injuries.  Different stroy w/ Rutgers.  They are good, ku isn't.

Texas was not a top 5 team this season.

Hatter... every team has injuries.  Sadly, your team didn't have much depth.  ku was the better team this year.  Deal with it.

If ku was the better team than they would have

A) managed to get to a bowl
B) managed a winning conference record and
C) managed to get more wins than they did with the easiest schedule in the whole conference.

Texas was a top 5 team when we played them. That is all that matters. Would you agree that K-State was a better team than ku was last year since we beat you?

Proved it on the field?  Oh, wait... I guess the 3 TD win wasn't good enough.  I mean, if Freeman wasn't a completely over-hyped true freshman and he didn't have 6 turnovers, and the waterboy wasn't injured... :blahblah:

Quote
A) managed to get to a bowl

Well, we managed to get bowl eligible.  We can't help it if the Independence Bowl wanted Oklahoma State and T. Boone Pickens' generous donations.

Quote
B) managed a winning conference record

K-State didn't have a winning conference record either.  Besides, ku was much more competitive overall in the conference with close losses @Baylor (36-35), @NU (39-32 OT), and A&M (21-18).  We blew leads in 4 of our 5 conference losses.  The team was very close to winning the Big 12 North, as a matter of fact.

Quote
C) managed to get more wins than they did with the easiest schedule in the whole conference.

A&M won in Austin, and you guys played Nebraska in Manhattan.  I'll admit, K-State was an easy win at home, but that shouldn't make our schedule any easier than your's.

The final top 25 came out today.

Kansas did not play a single member. By contrast KSU played #'s 13,12 and 5.

ku played quite possibly the easiest schedule ever by a big 12 team in 2006. To go 6-6 with your schedule is so incredibly funny.

We did.  The season was not about one game, it's about a collection of the entire season.  We're not better than Texas but acccording to you we are better than Texas.  That is your logic.  You didn't find anyone here claiming we were better than ku last season.  "proving it on the field" does not involve one game in a season when half your team is in the training room.  Congratulations on winning your "bowl".

Quote
Well, we managed to get bowl eligible.  We can't help it if the Independence Bowl wanted Oklahoma State and T. Boone Pickens' generous donations.

You were bowl eligible only because you included a 1AA win.  Even w/ a crappy Toledo on your OOC you needed a 1AA win to be bowl eligible meanwhile Prince has a Louisville on the OOC and doesn't need a 1AA win to be bowl eligible.  Oh, and don't piss and moan about Indy Bowl, OSU, and T.Boone..try beating them and they wouldn't have been selected over you.  I don't know...play some defense?  600 yards and 40 unanswered points by OSU in Lawrence has nothing to do w/ T. Boone's dinero.

Quote

well I had to cut it off at the "close losses" moral victory season.  Sure, KSU didn't have a winning conference record but we also didn't have a losing conference record either which is something ku has had every year under Mangino and every year in Big 12 play.  LOL that ku was "more competitive" despite a WORSE record.  What part of "competitive" don't you get?

Quote

Actually it was an easier schedule.  Texas went 6-2 in conference play while aTm went 5-3.  Again, it's the collection of a season's work and not one game.

I'm done w/ this argument.  It's silly.

When you haven't:

-had winning conference season since 1995.

-been to a New Years Day Bowl in 37 years

-been to back to back bowls ever

-NOT needed a D1AA win to get bowl eligible since 1995

It's the little things that you need to make yourself feel better.

Last year KSU was the better team.  ku had the better season.

This year ku was the better team.  Despite the Texas bowl, KSU had the better season.

Everyone agree?

Were any of those guys O-line or D-line, because that's where you guys got abused against ku and Rutgers...

Yes, and luckily K-State managed to beat 1AA Illinois State by one point.

well I had to cut it off at the "close losses" moral victory season.

With a redshirt-freshman at QB and a defense that lost 8 starters from the year before, coming within a 1-point road loss against Baylor and an OT loss at Nebraska from winning the North shows a lot more to look forward to in the future.

Congrats on your fluke win over Texas and their 2nd string QB, along with your blowout losses to ku, NU, BU, and MU.

No, A&M beat Texas in Austin.  They were the better team this year.  Oh, and last season when ku clearly had the better season and went on to win their bowl game, this wasn't your argument.

Yet in one sport KthUg fans call themselves a dynasty yet that sport has won exactly two national titles (which is good), 36 years apart, and the last one was nearly 20 years ago.   At one point do we just say that ku hoops is a very fine program that wins lots of games, but isn't a DYNASTY . . . 25 years after the last national title, 30 years after the last national title??  When??

Oh but look at the all time wins, look at this, look at that, cue squawkville.

If National Titles is your only criteria for a "dynasty," UCLA and Kentucky are the only teams that would fit that bill.

Glad to see you are at the point where you have to bring basketball into a football discussion.

It really doesn't matter.  KSU and ku are both irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, especially in football.

Football: KSU has accomplished as much as (and a bit more) than ku did in an 11 year span.  Crow about all time series and worthless leather helmet era crap as much as you want, but until 1993, both schools sucked, hardcore.  ku had a couple good years in the 60's but thats it.

Basketball: ku, the school that wins alot of games and chokes alot. KSU, the school that hired Bob Huggins.
