Just for the record, several writers have spoken about D.O.A. with reference to an automobile crash. The song was not about a car crash. It is pretty well accepted that the song was referencing the ill fated Wichita State Football teams plane crash, which occurred on October 2, 1970 as they were on route to a game in Utah.
