Snyder would have rolled allen "no talent" evridge out there.

Nation, good call with the "snyder for OC campaign"

Hilarious.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Be honest.  Snyder had a horrible time against teams he wasn't supposed to beat.

On a related note does anyone on here ever remember a Snyder trick play working.  The only one I can think of is like eastern illinois when we debuted the swinging gate on an extra point and threw a two point conversion to that the tight end (MaGee?).

Good times. It was 33-13 and snyder wanted to make it a clean 35-13.

Before or after Michael Bishop?  Before Bishop Snyder actually called fairly aggressive games at times but after Bishop arrived it was: 1st down run, 2nd down run, 3rd down heave it down the field and pray.  The post-Bishop Snyder loses by 4 TDs last night, the pre-Bishop Snyder would have had a shot.

Throwback pass to Matt Miller on the go ahead drive against CU in 96 is one that stands out.  Of course then we got beat deep to give up the lead and finished by snapping the ball into the endzone for another CU score.

Wasn't Mitch Running involved in that play?  Didn't the bounce it off the crown?
I was there, cold night :o

I meant 95.  96 was the very cold game in Boulder.  95 was cold, but it wasn't -12 at kickoff.

Apparently you don't either.

I remember distinctly thinking we had a shot vs. Nebraska in '96.

Snyder NEVER pulled as ballsy a game plan off as this.  ever.

    Fear the Brick
Besides the Miller throwback, the only other really quasi-trick play I remember was the throw back TE screen to justin swift in the 97 Fiesta, but I don't know if that counts as a trick play.  From 97-03, Bill really had no reason to pull trick plays out of his ass because we had as much if not more talent than everyone we played.

I recall an onside kick that A&M had no idea was coming...many "trickeration" type plays in many other games...and Snyder would just formation people to death.  Before MB came on the scene, KSU's offense was one of the most visibly creative the game has known for some time..and even when you thought he was just running "QB Draw right, QB Draw Left, Throw Deep" every time...it was SO much more.

Last night, Prince called a good game.  The fake punt was "interesting", but I loved that he was not too hard headed to think he could force a run game on UT and attacked their weakness.  It was awesome.

I'm not sure I'm seeing what everyone is calling "ballsy"...the 2 double passes in a row were impressive, but the one that really caught my eye was the throw on 3rd down.  I really liked that call.

If Coach is going to get back in the game, Fatty, I'd just as soon have him at KSU.

It's retarded thinking to ask Prince to hire Snyder as the OC.

I mean, that's just dumb

Do you honestly think I was serious?  All I ever said is I would like to have it happen...but it wouldn't happen...much like any other far-fetched wish.

WN, you realize that Prince has roughly as many successful trick plays in one year as Snyder did in all of his years here?  Do you see why you look like an idiot pointing out an onside kick @ A&M?

Yes, many of us recall the sheer brilliance of the 4-5 times a game that our QB would check-off to a short-side option.  Or the sheer brilliance of 2-3 delay of game/flase starts guaranteed every game.

Snyder was a terrific coach.  No doubt.  I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he did for this program and more importantly this university.  Not enough could ever be said about it.  However, Prince is doing things that are the complete opposite of what we've become accustomed to.  In every way possible he is a change.  People on here were very skeptical and I think the elation is a reflection of that.

    Overkill. It works.
Snyder will always be one of my idols.  I went to Manhattan BY MYSELF for his last game!  I love the man & always will.  That being said, he had a tendency to call really conservative game plans.  And I don't remember many "trick plays" being successful.  I remember a goal-line halfback pass (in '91 I think) that Nebraska BLEW UP.  And who was J.J. Smith throwing to?  Chad May.  Of course, that was the day that May threw for 489 yards against the vaunted blackskirts too.  Yeah we lost, but it was a damned entertaining game up there.  Back to the point; "Bold & daring" wasn't really a part of Snyder's bag of tricks most of the time.

Against BYU in the Cotton Bowl, Snyder brought the teams back out of the lockerroom and went for two right before half time. That was pretty Bold and Daring for Snyder.

Ok!  I'll be sure to give them a ring.  I have Gary Barnett on speed-dial.

Were you that guy on the field last night drunkenly screaming at the students to respect Bill Snyder Family Stadium and rambling about us being in the Fiesta Bowl 3 years ago?

Snyder would have lost to Texas this year.

Once upon a time he called a fairly creative game, then he got the horses to just ram the football down the throats of nearly everyone we played so that's exactly what he did.  Problem is that the level of athelete being brought in started to decline a bit early this decade finally resulting in the '04 and '05 seasons where we simply no longer had the athletes we needed to ram the ball down the other team's throat and get 9+ wins doing so.

Snyder may have "formationed teams to death" but he was still running primarily a power game, right up to the end when he didn't have the players he needed to be successful doing so.  That's a big part of the reason why, after he established the program, he nearly always won the games he was supposed to win and lost the game he was supposed to lose.

There's nothing at all wrong with the style game Snyder called for the last decade or so.  We won a hell of a lot of games playing that sort of football and teams like Nebraska won a lot of MNCs doing just about the same thing.  We'd just reached a point where it was no longer suited to the players we had in the program.  Snyder would still be calling a power game and we still don't have the team to pull it off so we'd have been in for another long season this year.

I just don't get why people want to downplay what Snyder did.  It seems so fricking retarded.  I'm with you WN.  I just finished Snyder's book.  For any Cat fan you should read it before you talk.

Um....no.  I stood around and took in the atmosphere for a few minutes...walked down and out onto the track...saw Drinkgerm...wife figured out that being down on the field was pretty overrated, and we took off for the tailgate.  Watched highlights for about an hour..picked up, went and dropped stuff off....drove through Aggieville and then went to Bob's for some grub before getting some sleep around 2.

Any more questions?

To anybody that was around in the days when Kstate football sucked......Snyder is an idol and rightfully so.  Who the hell is into trick plays?  Thats bullcrap........good teams T it up and smack you in the mouth.  Trick plays may work some times.........but they will also take you down when it means the most. :banghead:
