We all know there's been a conspiracy. Only the failures have been recorded.
We all pay too much attention to Icarus, and not enough to his father.

ECN,

Very nice.  Great pictures of a great model !

Since I don't have a model to shoot, here is a scenic:

A waterfall (not sure which) in Zion National Park.  Taken in February, 2005.

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

Diet Coke and Mentos anybody ?

Here is the original caption:

Here is xxxxxx holding the MDM (Mentos Delivery Module). This was the first experiment of Mentos and diet Coke. We used a copper pipe and a piece of card stock paper to allow the "loading" of the MDM. When the stock paper was pulled, the several Mentos dropped into the 2 liter bottle very quickly. It was so quick that I barely had time to snap this picture. As you can see, xxxxxx has pulled the MDM away and soda is still coming out of the MDM as well as erupting from the 2 liter bottle !

Another Diet Coke and Mentos reaction...

Looking up at Steamboat Geyser, Norris Geyser Basin (in minor eruption):

Steamboat is the world's tallest currently active geyser.  Major eruptions can be more than 300 feet.  The last major eruption was May 23, 2005.  Mrs. cyclist and I have been there twice since that eruption.

Steamboat has frequent minor eruptions.  These can be from 6 to 40 feet high.

Runoff into the Firehole river.  Dig the trees in the background.  The year is 2005 and the 1988 fire is still evident.

Pictures of Excelsior Geyser.  This geyser blew open this huge crater and still pours over 4,000 gallons of water a minute into the Firehole River.

Yellowstone/Upper Geyser Basin/Grotto Geyser:

Some history of Grotto Geyser:

On September 18, 1870 members of the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition entered the Upper Geyser Basin where in a day and a half of exploration, they named seven geysers of which Grotto was one. Nathaniel P. Langford described the Grotto in his 1871 Scribner's account:

"The Grotto" was so named from its singular crater of vitrified sinter, full of large, sinuous apertures. Through one of these, on our first visit, one of our company crawled to the discharging orifice; and when, a few hours afterwards, he saw a volume of boiling water, four feet in diameter, shooting through, it to the height of sixty feet, and a scalding stream of two hundred inches flowing from the aperture he had entered a short time before, he concluded he had narrowly escaped being summarily cooked. The discharge of this geyser continued for nearly half an hour[2].
