+1 I think Frank slipped up or something is out of context.

No, he's right. McDermott is at $850K; he signed a deal starting t $650K in 2006, and he receives a raise of $50,000 every year. And Drew - that figure you quoted is woefully low. First of all, Baylor is a private school and figures don't have to be disclosed. But if anyone thinks he's under a $1 million after taking the Bears to the tournament - he just received an extension - is crazy.

Technically, he's right.
But he's also somewhat disingenuous on this topic.
Frank made the decision (rightfully so) to pay Dalonte a higher wage than most of his contemporaries.  He knew that extra cash (approximately 250k) was comming out of his pocket.  You put that money in Frank's pocket and he's right at a cool mill.

Now he does deserve to be making more; but he's got to also realize he's put KSU and himself in a rather unique situation due to Dalonte's contract.  Pretty sure once Te leaves for his opportunity to be a head coach; Frank's going to get a healthy chunk of that cash back.

Nope you are absolute correct. As long as that is a direct quote, which I believe it to be.
This is news to me though that he is the lowest paid coach in conference.

Dude, I just spend half an hour making my spreadsheet, googling sources I listed.    The numbers I listed are confirmed contract figures excpet for BU.     Drew was paid $412k in 2007.   Media reports at the time were quite clear he would be making less than the $600k that Bliss was making.     Now, I was unable to find a source for his current contract, nor any speculation.     Link to your source?

This February 2009 article says Drew is making $521k.    You have to remember that BU is entirely private and a religious instiution, and they are going to pay a lot less than the going rate.

I am saying that based on the reports, many of them direct from the schools linked in my spreadsheet show that at least 2 coaches publicly are bing paid less than Frank.   Now, he may be wrapping in other compensation that is not publicly made available, or maybe he just has more up to date info, but every number I found was based on contract terms reported.

And I haven't seen J Mart say anything about Frank being the lowest paid.

I just re-read the terms of McDermott.   I did have an error by $50k.    McDermott signed a contract extension in March 06 paying him $650k plus $50k a year raise, so $700k in 07, $750k in 08, and 800k in 09.

Unless you have a better source, Bzdelik is still paid $750k at CU.   http://colorado.scout.com/2/637062.html

You're quoting from a story that says in the first or second paragraph that it's information derived from a 2007 tax filing. Trust me, no chance Scott Drew is making less than a $1 million per. No chance.

no, like I said, he's probably including other compensation.   But KSU has no control over shoe contracts, appearance fees, etc. so it's not fair to judge the contract terms based on that.   Part of that onus is on the coach and his agent to negotiate with those entities.

The other part of this is that Frank's agent surely knows what Drew is making, or at the least has some very sophisticated intelligence on this.  Frank's not going to pop off like that without his agent providing him some solid facts.

In either case, we are splitting hairs.  Frank is effectively the lowest paid coach in the Big 12, or he's in a very, very tight race to be the lowest.

No, its on the podcast if you listen to it. Wright says, "Coach, looking at the figures, you are about the 10th highest paid coach in the Big 12." Wright asked something to the effect if he thinks that's fair. Franks says, " Well, if people do a little research, they'll see that I am actually last in the in the Big 12."

The Frank quote isnt up yet is it? Or am i missing something?

No, its on the podcast if you listen to it. Wright says, "Coach, looking at the figures, you are about the 10th highest paid coach in the Big 12." Wright asked something to the effect if he thinks that's fair. Franks says, " Well, if people do a little research, they'll see that I am actually last in the in the Big 12."
WOW. GET THIS MAN PAID CURRIE!!!!!!!!!

I think Frank is doing it to get a commitment to the program more than his own bank account.

Remember, Frank was here when Weiser was giving himself 500k loans and Krause was giving Prince whatever millions he ends up with, he may not have a lot of sympathy for the "We will pay what we can, we are a unique situation" routine.

I am actually encouraged that Frank has said and done (Jmart leak) what he has.  If he wanted out, he could just ride out this year and then go somewhere else at the end of the season (any ACC, BE or SEC job that has an AD that needs to win, DePaul would be a good fit, wouldn't it?
