meh. I like Ben Folds ok, he played Army and some old stuff, but mostly new stuff, which largely sucked ballz.
The real treat was the opening act:
Corn Mo.
This man came out with a white suit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIwcK6ySORkHe played an acordian, and had strapped a drum stick under his shoelaces so he could dramatically hit it against a single cymbal he had placed on the stage in front of him. He would rant at length between songs about Art Bell being the only guy on the radio who would truly listen to people, his various time travel naps, the 300th birthday of Benjamin Franklin (and his accompanying time travel story) and his daily drive home from work on the night shift when he would stop at Wonderburger. After one of his songs, which was about his failed attempts to "make it" with his eigth grade girlfriend, some douche bag in the audience yelled out "FREEBIRD!" Corn Mo responded by saying: "Freebird? Ok, but everybody don't get mad when I play this crap just cause one guy yelled it out. If you hate freebird and you are sitting next to that dude then punch him in the arm. If you dig freebird then hug him. But holy &@#% dude, do you think you could've been a little more original?" He proceeds to launch into an inspiring version of the country rock classic. Accompanying his what-Jack-Black-wishes-he-sounds-like vocals with Accordian and afforementioned shoe cymbal. It was awesome.
Here is his song:
www.cornmo.com/music 'Lollipop.' Yes, it is aweome.
Hilarious. He must be seen live to be believed, he actually was MUCH more entertaining without the backing band as a one-man show.
On youtube there is a video of him on Jimmy Kimmel that is pretty good.
