Alamo vs. Penn State?

That would kick ass.

The Alamo Bowl would be the best case scenario.  There is absolutely no doubt about it.

Bigger national stage for recruiting with an ESPN national broadcast (110 million households}, Texas recruiting, better opponent from the Big 10, bigger payout, more money invested into the team and fan events for the schools.

Outside of the BCS, The Alamo is one of the best ones out there.

San Antonio is a great town and the teams get treated extremely well.

Any bowl will be a great reward for the team, but comparing apples to apples, there's no comparison between the Alamo and the Insight.

BTW:  There's a poll on the Alamo Bowl's website predicting which Big XII team will play in the bowl.  Right now we're trailing A&M and Mizzou.  Go Vote the Cats!

Which would you prefer.....

Independence vs. Alabama or
Holiday vs. Cal

Me personally I'd say the Independence because we've been to the Holiday so much. We do recruit alot in California so a trip to the Holiday would be fine though.

Shreveport blows.  I doubt we'll go to the Holiday Bowl, although that's a great game.  If we beat ku on Saturday, then we may have a shot at the Alamo Bowl, especially if Mizzou drops one of their last two games.  If we win Saturday, we'll at least tie for second in the North.  Nebraska/Texas/OU will head to the BCS game, the loser will go Cotton, and the 2nd place South team will go Holiday.  That would leave us with a good shot at the Alamo Bowl--although I could see them trying to go with aTm instead.

Should be interesting to see it all shake out.

I think the chances are very high for Alamo, Insight, or Independence.  With a win in Lawrence, we'll be in the mix with aTm and MU to go to one of those 3 IMO.

An aTm loss to UT would mean 3 losses in their last 4.  With a fan base already after their coach, their prospects of traveling well, even within the state, won't be good.

MU could win their last 2, which along with their head to head win, could bump them over us.  That should be interesting to watch.  Plus, they've been to the Independence 2 out of the last 3 years.

We are in the lead now.

Given the choice I'd rather see us play in the Alamo bowl.  Better for recuiting, better national exposure, more alumni in Texas than Arizona, 3 hr drive from my house.

Just admit that that's the main reason.

The Big 12 champion gets a bid to the BCS, and it will be the Fiesta Bowl this year because there will be no team playing for the national championship. Also, look for the Cotton or Holiday to take the Big 12 title-game loser.

OU will get the one that NU doesn't get (cotton or holiday).  After that is between us, moo, and aTm.  aTm will lose this week. Alamo is virually a lock if the chickens beat moo.

According to the KC Star.....

The Alamo, Sun, Insight, Independence and Texas Bowls are possibilities.

The Sun wasn't interested in us until we beat Texas and now they're very interested. They list a possible opponent as either Oregon or Oregon State.

The Texas Bowl really wants us but doesn't think we'll be available by the time they choose (I don't think so either).

The Alamo is "very" interested as well.

The Insight Bowl and Independence Bowl are both sending people to the K-State vs. ku game. Purdue and Iowa are both on the Insight Bowl radar as well as Indiana and Minnesota IF they become bowl eligible. The Independence Bowl is also looking at Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. The possible opponent could be either Alabama or Kentucky.

The Shreveport paper interviewed someone from the Independence Bowl the other day.  He said they'd like to have KSU but we won't be available by the time they pick.

I know that everybody is disappointed about last night but I felt better once I read in today's Manhattan Mercury that the loss won't hurt us so much in terms of bowl standing because Missouri also lost.  :hope:

I still think we have a great shot at the Alamo and am beginning to think that is our most likely destination.

Insight.com, Alamo, Poinsetta.... any one of em and I'll play golf till I'm fried.

I know we have locals in the Phoenix/Tempe area.  Do we have any BB posters who are locals in San Antonio? San Diego?

The Alamo does not want Missouri.

The Gator Bowl picks before the Alamo Bowl. How would we feel about a Gator Bowl vs. Clemson, West Virginia or Boston College?

Fitz just said during basketball pregame that he thinks we're headed to the Insight Bowl and there's just a slim chance we could go to the Holiday Bowl.

According to today's Wichita Eagle.....

The Texas Bowl is going to take Oklahoma State. It sounds like ku would have been a lock for the Insight Bowl had they won yesterday but since they didn't they aren't. That probably means that it's between KSU and Texas Tech for the Insight, Alamo or MAYBE Sun Bowl.

I think it's more likely now that we're headed to San Antonio.
