Great Hire!

For State fans that is.   :D

 :ksu:

I was a bit worried with Tubberville.  You guys might have actually had a chance to save what Mangino did for your football program.

Let's just pretend for a second that Jim Harbaugh does take the job.   What happens in a year or two when Rich Rod gets canned from Michigan?   Usually you don't worry too much about a coach leaving because that would mean they had great success.   But in this case he'd be likely to leave in a year or two and probably before he has any real success at Kansas.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

jfc, this is absolutely stupid.  he'd have to have success if michigan was going to hire him away.  and if he had enough success for that to happen, finding another guy won't be that difficult.  harbaugh would be an excellent hire.

Which is exactly why he'd never leave stanford for ku.  if he maintains success in stanford, he will be the next coach at michigan.  doesn't make for good business sense to leave now and start over, when a high profile job is all but his.

It would make a ton of bu$ne$$ $en$e.  like double what he's making now.

I guess I should have said that it doesn't make sense in the long-term.  He won't have near the success at uk.

It really isn't that difficult to have success in the big 12 north (especially given ku's upcoming conference schedule for the next 2 years).  I mean, ksu was one game away from the conference championship game.  On top of all that, he's going to get paid probably about 6-7million more over the life of the contract at ku than he would if he stayed at stanford.

I just checked 5 Stanford message boards and the only post about ku was telling ku fans to quit dreaming and only had 3 posts.

you conveinetely leave out the fact that you still play south opponents, and literally have no chance to win the conference because texas/ou are staring you down in the dr. pepper game.

next year they play @BU, A&M, and OSU.  North is KSU, @ISU, CU, @NU, kc-MU.  That's an easy schedule.  easier to win the Big 12 conference from the North than to win the Pac 10 at Stanford.

mascott's latest post:

This is not something that is 100% at all. Just what I was told by a decent source. One that has been pretty spot on thus far. I just got additional info from him. None of which has been confirmed by any additional sources as of yet. By none I mean NONE.

Basically he said an offer is on the table but ku does have fear of the Michigan buyout possibility in the future. Still talking to other guys, but JH is #1 target. (remember this is source talking, not me) Holtz, Gill, and others are still in mix.

I am working my arse off to get another source on this. Lucky I got anything this morning. This particular source usually text me but for some reason he emailed today. My new 'Droid' was jacked up and didn't work all morning until about 40 minutes ago. Kinda strange.

Why does everybody just assume he'll take the Michigan job? He burned a ton of bridges there, and half the people in the AD's office hate him because of the comments he made.

For reference:

http://thewizardofodds.blogspot.com/2007/08/they-arent-about-to-forget-jim-harbaugh.html

That's not to say that he wouldn't leave for greener pastures. But to act like he's gone as soon as Michigan opens up might require a bit more research.
