He had one great season.  You guys remind me of the ku fans who were devastated when Wooldridge was fired at K-State.  You're in some hardcore denial if you don't think Perkins will make a big-time hire.

Mangino is the best coach you've ever/will ever have.  Perkins will eventually lose his job over this.

Someone is going to dig up all those post of you praising him a national coach of the year and on track to be better than Snyder.
Lew, lew, lew, lew, lew, blah, blah, blah.
ku still sucks as a football school and just chased off the best coach it ever had. That's the hard, cold reality.
suck it

sorry bro, but mangino was ku's dan mccarney. he was somehow able to make ku good more often then not and i don't think it's reasonable to expect someone to go into lawrence and outdo what he did. let the coaching carousel begin. shoulda been happy w/ what you had.

Wooly never had any accomplishments...not even any smoke-and-mirror seasons.  Not one.  Zip. Zilch.

You are a clown.  You were the one trying to convince everyone over here what a great job he was doing.  How the talent gap he created was so vast over KSU.  How he was going to beat KSU this year by more than he did in Lawrence the year before.  You also confused that guy that used to write for the Star with Joe Paterno.  Lew may make a good hire but it isn't going to be Harbaugh or Sumlin like all the Johnson County talking heads keep saying.

ku is broke.  They will have to hire Gill or someone else who will come cheap.

No one worth a crap would take the ku job now.

$2.3 mill doesn't help the fact that ku is a hard place to recruit to, and it will always be 2nd best to Basketball.  Don't forget crapty stadium and lack of booster support after this fiasco.

I still cannot believe we tricked ku fans and admin into thinking Mangino was bad.  My god, the guy was a monster.  So relieved.

This could be the most hilariously ironic thing coming from you.

How about you wait until the hire to come running over here for validation.

LOL again . . . I just remember how  Ben used to get when ever we offered up even the slightest perceived slight of Mangino on this board.

That was always good for Ben going completely nuclear.

The Big 12 North appears to be getting off the mat a little . . . . just not going to be as easy for any new ku coach as it was for Mangino to get the ball rolling.

I'm with ya Beams.  It isn't difficult to be competitive in the Big 12 north.  We've got a senior citizen doing it.  Just because other coaches were incompetent doesn't mean that's the measuring stick.

BMW...do you really want me to start thread digging concerning your love of all things Mangina?

This could go really south for you.

    Angry KSU Fan.
I've been praying for this day since that genius first beat us in Lawrence.  The fear that he struck into my heart is finally gone.  It's just a giant relief, you know?

No coach worth a damn will ever step foot in Lawrence in my lifetime.  Can't discipline the players, have to take a backseat to basketball, impossible to recruit to, and even if you have amazing success (see: National Coach of the Year award) you'll still be pushed out the door at the first sign of struggles, not to mention a giant smear campaign that will prevent you from ever landing a respectable job again.

It's a coaching graveyard.  Things really couldn't have worked out better for emaws.

Let's be honest Mangino is a better football coach than Wooly was/is a basketball coach. The fat man at least got you to the Orange Bowl (did Lew pay off the BCS to get Mizzou snubbed?). The best thing Wooldridge got for us was Marques Hayden and he just turned into an out of shape weed smoker...

BMW, I know what you are feeling right now.  I LOVE the feeling the start of a coaching search gives me.  It's a time full of hope, optimism and endless possibilities.  But then the dream scenario "high profile" candidates start rejecting you, and you think that's fine because it was far-fetched anyway.  Then the top 2 or 3 reasonable candidates announce they have no interest. So you settle.  You'll rationalize that you didn't settle, but you did.  And it will become all to clear in about 2 years that Mark Mangino was the best you'll ever have.

But enjoy the excitement right now.  Live it up.

Or you can have the school's president (in your case AD) make the decision because he had a large "folder" and hire the guy without concern for any other person's (president, boosters, etc..) input.  Thus setting up for ultimate failure.   :yuck:

Welcome back to the football board!!  First provide a list of coaches who would be considered a "big-time hire", then we can start discussing uk's chance's of actually landing him.  Thanks!
