The only coach that will ever be able to win at ku is finally gone.  We succeeded by tricking them into thinking he sucked.  Honestly, I didn't think we had it in us.  I mean, I knew they paid a sh1tload of attention to us but I didn't know they took us into consideration to the extent that they obviously did.  I will PM all KSU fans on how to attack the next coach via BBS based on his greatness/suckiness.  Let's hope he isn't a hall of famer like Mark Mangino though.  It was hard talking him down as a garbage coach for as long as we did.

It really is time to stick out the olive branch and reinstitute the 'ol run game coordinator.    I think he has a chip on his shoulder and it is what jesus would do and Bill is as close to Jesus as God allows on earth so i think it is fitting.

anybody that has been here for a while knows how much of a mangino fan i am. i have thought that he was behind the ksu and the ou success for years. long and windy response below and for that i apoligize.

it becomes public knowledge that he is leaving ksu when we're ranked #1 and about ready to play for a national championship. couple of years go by and then we kind of start to stink. he moves to ou and they win a national championship and then after he leaves...gradually start to not be as good. five losses this year for them. he then takes ku. ku, of all schools to a freaking orange bowl and they win the thing. amazing that he is gone. incredible day for kstate fans everywhere.

It's remarkable how ku got a total steal in the first place with Mangino and after having him in Lawrence for eight years nothing to show for it. They are literally right back to where they started in 2002.

What MM did at ku is FAR more impressive than what Snyd's did here, you simply cannot win at ku.  I mean he took them from 64-0 beatdowns to the motha frack'n Orange bowl!  OMG, ku!

Love the scrolling blurb on ESPN tonight about Mangino winning as many bowl games since 2005 as the program has in the previous 101 years.  That covers 35 ku coaches by my count.  He also had the best winning percentage of any ku coach since 1953.  Back-to-back bowl games for the first time in ku history, with a .500 or better win percentage 3 years in a row...missing a 4th by only one win.  Oh and he hates KSU more than any ku fan ever could, putting the bullseye on the Cats (4-4 at ku and 3-0 at OU vs. KSU).  He was also 4-4 vs. Mizzou during the Tigers' best era since the 1960's.

But he's fat, so they fire him?

Unbelievable.

Best season in the history of the program; fired two seasons later.

The Big 12 North breathes a sigh of relief tonight.  Thank you Lew Perkins.

The Ward family wasn't about to let their beautiful press box and suites overlook a team led by an ugly obese Eye-talian.

Question; has any coach ever gone from National Coach of the Year to fired as quickly as Mangino?  Tuberville at Auburn was fired 4 years after his NCOY, but they are actually a football program with history and expectations and stuff.  Mangino going from NCOY to fired in 2 seasons has to be a record.  Has to be.  Especially at a program that had never had back to back bowl games in its history.

Just remembered that today's opposite day.  SteveDave told me he was trembling in fear at the possiblity of ku having a coach that wasn't 400 pounds overweight.

That was to trick your program into firing him.  Totally worked!  Have you not read this thread :dunno:

I know Solich didn't win NCOY.  Nubbs fired him for a 9 win season.  But Solich didn't beat his wife, players, and officials.  Ok your right uk is a bunch of retards firing the '07 COY.

Guy was 4-4 against us including issuing us the worst beating in the series since possibly 1991.

They fell into our tiger pit blindly.

What was it about his 23-41 record in the Big 12 that had you so impressed?

23-41 at ku is like 37-9 at KSU.  Winning in Lawrence is damn near impossible.  No future coach will ever have that high of a Big 12 winning percentage at ku.

You know playing K-State was just so personal for Mangino . . . any new coach just isn't going to have the same zeal for the game.
