I don't think its been more obvious than tonight that we are so close to being a good team. Problem? Quarterback. Gregory has heart and spirit and I'm proud of him, great kid, but we lack serious talent and skill at that position and it was more evident tonight than any other time of the year. Great year for the kid and I wish him well, but we need someone who can look past their first read.

Yeah, putting Coffman was not the answer to our problems.  Hopefully Harper, Lamur, or whoever else we have at QB next season is able to upgrade the position.  Our passing game may not be great if Harper's the guy, but our running game (with an improved OL, Thomas, Harper, and our other backs) would be very tough.

We've got nothing at WR either. Let's hope Smith is all that and a bag of chips.

I agree, and with an added element in the running game with lamur, harper, or possibly a juco qb (please God, Newton) that I think will open the passing game up even more. Because right now our running game involves DT and thats where it ends.

Yes, well said. GG has ballz, but its really sad....even a middle of the pack D1 quarterback would have us bowling and likely playing UT for the B12 CG.

I don't think we're terrible at WR. It isn't a weakness lets put it that way. I think our inability at QB makes our WR's look worse than they really are.

Finding and developing a QB for next year is priority #1 starting hooefully as soon as the bus gets back to Vanier.

The QB position will only get worse next year if we don't get Newton, Blackman, or some transfer like Gregory. Sorry, but Lamur and Harper suck.

Gregory did a good job of avoiding sacks tonight.  He probably should have run a bit more and he had a few bad passes, but when they were good, receivers dropped too many balls, not to mention the fumble.  It wasn't until we were in over our heads in the last quarter that he started forcing it.  Lay off him.

Why do you say such things.

I don't think this thread has been very critical. But avoiding pressure shouldn't be the main quality in a QB, it should be accuracy, decision making, reads/checking down to different options. Gregory doesn't do that very well. We need someone who can in order to reach the next level. That's all there is to it.

At second look, it's not all that critical, I suppose all the threads about GG are blurring together in my mind.  But we knew going into the game he's not that accurate and considering coach still decided to pass a lot, I thought he did a nice job and I don't think the decision making was bad until he had no choice but to force the ball at the end.

I actually agree with that. He's weaknesses didn't become glaring until the second half. I'm just saying we need a QB who we can rely on to do those things when ever its called upon. We can't run the ball for 5 yards a pop every game.

Webber is saying he thinks Colin Klein could be our starter nest season.  Doesn't seem to far fetched he's big and pretty atletic and he threw the ball right on the money to Thomas tonight.  What I want to know is why was he never given a shot this season?

well, he should have played this year then.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
