Kelly showing that he's pretty consistent - possibly our best player.

Wally Judge showing improvement

QFT. Would love to see JHR show some development on offense.
csourk is the best pre-college poster on this board.  way better than oxlp956

    Hey, basketball!!!
Pullen can attack/drive to the basket (only guard who tries or can). Same thing can be said about penetrating the defense. :-[

Wrong, Clemente can do this, he just can't make the layup.   :frown:

i disagree with all of these.  very strongly with 1 and 3.

good lord. kelly was awesome.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

yeah. mcgrudsy and russy were really awful. guard depth is frightening.

kelly and judge were really really good, and have been all year.

Judge showing that he has the tools, skills, goods...whatever.  I love Kelly, but Judge has impressive range.

I'd grade Kelly a meh. It's clear he's a taller Hoskin who can't hit FTs.
Rebounding was so so. Got to remember we were playing another Huggins' clone, so they were going to give effort, too. But we were a very offensive rebound team last year, and I just haven't seen that this year. I'd like to see a lot more fight and effort. Worried that you can't turn that on a month into the season.

Our frountcourt was good tonight, but our poor backcourt play and poor free throw shooting lost us the game. This team could be dangerous if Clemente, Pullen, Kelly, and Judge are all playing well on the same night.

kelly is soft, lazy, weak.  poor rebounder (grabs some o boards, but sucks on d boards) and worse defender.

so he can score a bit.  other people can score without giving it right back.

I understand where sys is coming from on Kelly, he plays pretty poor defense sometimes.

But I'm willing to give him a few defensive possessions off knowing we actually have a big at K-State that can make a powerful post move and score in the paint.  Its like I'm seeing something I've never seen before (not really counting Beasley).

he's now 24-38 for the year. Stop making this more complicated than it is. He's been great.

I can imagine if KSU had an elite tennis team that people cared about, i'd be an obnoxious "x's and o's" dork as well.   :dunno:

he still should have had more 2nd half touches.

i'm not going to trash kelly just to make a point.  but he needs to defend and rebound much better.  especially if martin is going to limit sutton's minutes (seriously don't understand that, and it is pissing me off).

Bright Spot = Wally
Could've been a bright spot with a few more made FTs = Kelly (what was he like 15 and 10?  20 and 10 is a different level - he needs to be a better foul shooter if our offense is going to flow through him, which it appears is the plan)
Would've loved to see more of the other talent (e.g. McGruder)

The Sutton we saw tonight was much more like last year's Sutton when he was playing well.  And if anything his minutes tonight were limited by foul trouble as much as anything.

true, re. fouls.

he was great for a stretch in 1st.  physically dominant.  picked up an idiotic 2nd foul late in the 1st which probably pissed martin off.  got a 3rd early in the  2nd and sat for a long time.  was only ok when he finally got back in, but the game was more or less over by then anyway.

i'm not sure kstate can be a great defensive team without him.  other than he and pullen, who is a better than average defender?  they need him.

I think a taller Hoskins is a great thing. The bad thing is he can't match Hoskins at the line.

I hate Dom with a passion for some reason.  Why don't we just play Merrieweather if we are looking for a good defender?  Merrieweather at least grazes iron at times on his jump shots.  If you are playing against us, why the frack would you not double Kelly and leave Dom to do whatever the frack he wants on the perimeter???

The hatred I feel for him is making my skin boil.  And I usually like the guy.   :runaway:

yeah, you're crazy.  sutton is probably kstate's 2nd best player.

If Sutton is our 2nd best player.......we are in for a loooooooooooooong season.  How the hell does someone who can't dribble, pass, or shoot become our 2nd best player?  Because he hustles and defends?  If he is open, he can make a layup or dunk.  Guess what........so can Colon.

5 guys have to rebound and defend.  sutton is the best on the team at both.

only 1 guy at a time scores.  and sutton's offensive woes are exaggerated.  he's decent inside 15 feet.

i'm stealing this from some random powertard, but he's right - kstate was about even or + when sutton was in the game.  and got destroyed when he was sitting.
