Recap, please?

Detailed all the alleged back-stabbing that Mangion engaged in in 1998 while stealing staff, recruits, files, etc from KSU.....but reported it as FACT.

Outlined his personal issues, banned from view games by the KS Highschool athletic association, from blowing up at fans.

Named five ku players, by name, that have filed grievances and allegations of verbal and physical abuse. (not "name" guys)

still going....

Kietz reported that 5 different players have filed complaints with the Ath Dept. that Mangino hit them or "touched them improperly" (maybe choked them or shoved them?)

He named names, but I can't remember who.  One was Onyublooey.

Mangino had a meeting with Lew, Mangino throw Lew under bus by saying that Mangino isn't going disclose info "but he (lew) is disclosing info"...clearly implying that he is pissed at lew.

All bad news as far as I'm concerned.  I don't like Mangino but i hope he somehow keeps his job for at least one more year.  A new coach brings in a lot of excitement and usually recruits pretty strong his first year or so.   Would like to give Snyder a chance to maybe cherry pick a couple of 2010 recruits and clean up the state in 2011 before a new coach takes over in Lawrence.

KSHSAA banned him due to him going after an officiating crew after he thought his son received a late hit (the replay showed it clearly wasn't, his son was hit as he released).  If I recall, as the crew tried to leave the field he blocked their way and got in their faces.  Apparently there were other "sportsmanship" issues at games before that and as a result he was banned from attending further events.

What have you done for me lately? Most of it is old stuff but I have always thought mangino is the type of coach that is tolerated as long as he is winning but when things go south not many will go to battle to save him because of his past transgressions and horrible personality.

KK just straight up bitch slapped Leabo for mentioning Snyder in the same breath as Mangino.  "That is the last time I will let you say something like that today.  Thats it."

Hard to imagine this wasn't know at some point between the CU game and now, wonder what the impetus is for wanting to take the fat man to task is now and not then?

From phog

BMW  "Honestly, I just don't understand the blind loyalty to Mark Mangino from some of the posters on this board.  Aside from the fact that this season has been a total disaster, the guy is now being accused of physically abusing his players.  There's been rumors about this kind of behavior from Mangino for quite a while now.  Like they say, where there's smoke, there's fire.  Lew Perkins doesn't just hold a players only meeting and conduct an investigation for no reason. I'm trying to imagine the kind of rope needed to lynch Mangino.
My hope is he sticks around wounded for a year at least. But now that they went public with it, they've got to act or recruiting goes :flush:

There is no way to put that genie back in the bottle.  Whether it happened or not, it's out there.  Absolutely no way Mangino can survive this.

Lew ended it by calling that meeting.  He could have kept it quiet.  He could have made it go away.  But instead he chose to crush Mark like a dove.

Lew called a meeting...

and in that meeting he announced a coaching search was under way.

No other way to explain it.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
Leabo will be surprised if Fatgino coaches this weekend.

Given his record, has he coached at all this year?
