These are the final polls for the 68 season. Again explain to me how uk played for the mnc if #1 Ohio State beat #2 USC in the Rose Bowl?  Notice USC finishes above you in both polls so if they beat OSU they still finish ahead no matter if you win the orange bowl or not. Used different source this time since you do not approve of wikipedia

yes, to bad i wasn't born yet.  But i saw 2007 and that was a fun year, schedule or not, it was fun.  I'm excited about next year because of these things,

Our QB could be Mathews instead of Pick so that is kinda up in the air in my mind.

Either way we go at QB I think we turn into a run team next year.  Our very young O line is going to have great experience, Toben looks like he is going to be a great RB for us, we will have Mcdougal and Omigie, and possibly Terry as WR's.  They will be young, but Mcdougal is going to have great experience, and we will also have Wilson.  I assume Briscoe is gone but he hasn't had the kind of year that puts him in the draft where I believe he wants to go.  Our very young D is going to have a year experience and will be bolstered by Kande in the DB's.  It will be a young O but we should have a D to help cover them.  I'm not claiming a north title next year but I think we will surprise a few teams and possibly get there, and 2011 we will be primed for a great run.

Run team? That would mean a total overhaul of your offense because the spread is not designed to be a run oriented offense.

First KSU football game I remember attending was in 1966. I grew up in Manhattan and graduated from KSU with a BS in 1984 so yes I have been though ups and downs with KSU's football more down years than good but at least I have witnessed the program have sustained success win a conference title, and play for two others in the past 15 years or so.

My entire point of this thread was how crappy ku has ALWAYS been in football. The way you ku fans always talk smack I really thought ku probably had more success in the past until I decided to look up your past football history.

Keep talking smack about us j@yh@wks but o-fer 41 on shared conference titles and o-fer 79 for an outright title is beyond embarassing and gives you very little room to talk smack about ANYBODY else's football program's past history. I guess its good for you basketball season starts soon.
Funny, You know ku played for a NC in the Orange Bowl against Penn State right?  You know we have a MUCH better overall record right?  You guys claiming a DoD without winning anything other than one conf championship.  How many times did you guys play for a NC during that run?  what? not a single time?  crazy.  yeah i know ku hasn't been that good at football.  But minus 11 years, you guys have been just as bad if not more.  It's great that because of your recent success you were able to get a great coach after your legend left.  Oh, what? that didn't happen? Well at least you guys are recruiting better talent because of your recent success right? No?  hmm.  you've been BAD for 6 years and now you have a chance to win one of the weakest North Divisions ever, in a year you lost to LaLa.  Congrats.  I bet you guys aren't even dancing in Dallas this year as Nub wins the north.  I bet you also don't want to talk about how the schedule set you up to be where you are this year?  Sure, talk about ku and the schedule of 2007, but you don't see it for yourself and 2009.  you wanna talk recent sucess?  ku has been to two straight bowl games and is probably heading to a third in a row, while you guys are looking for your first since you won the B12CG, 6 years ago now.  :piratewave:

Also inaccurate.  Superclown Ron Prince got us to a bowl game in 2006.  Not a great achievement, mind you, but better than what you represented here.

with a new QB, a SO RB and new WR it would not be that hard to switch to running the ball.  Probably a spread O but with more running.  I'm not talking a power running team.

I assume Briscoe is gone but he hasn't had the kind of year that puts him in the draft where I believe he wants to go.

Might be a silver lining to this season for ku.  I think the change in QB probably pushes him out the door this year, though.

The thing about ku's overall football record vs KSU's is a joke.  Memo to ku ... after World War II, KSU did not care about football.  We poured all of our energy into our thriving basketball program, which from post WWII until 1988 was on nearly equal footing with ku (I remember the ku-KSU bball game used to be for who won the conference).

Again, with football, we did not care.  Our athletic director poured next to nothing in resources in KSU football.  We got a handful of good athletes and some guys with a lot of heart, but we never had the facilities, the resources, or the coaches to build a contender because all of the money went to the basketball.

So here is the deal ... ku at least tried in that time; KSU did not.  If you run a race and I sit on a lawn chair, you can hardly boast that you were a better runner than I am because I didn't even run.

And ...

You tried and tried and tried for years and years and years, and still have not won an outright conference championship in football.  KSU finally puts a little effort for 10 years and represents the North the first of 3 times in 1998, then 5 years later wins the conference.

ku enjoyed a perfect storm in 2007.  Currently, it is a tin can tied to the bumper of a wedding limosine, a toupee in a calvary scene, currently residing in the "where are they now?" file.

Disagree Catmatt.  Saying that KSU didn't care, whether true or not, is a cop-out.  They kicked our asses just like everyone else did.  Still we have been kicking them around for 20 years and it doesn't seem to stop.  I'll take 90 years of crappy football followed by the Bill Snyder era over 100 years of mediocrity any day.  BTW, ku was pretty crappy most of the time as well.  Let them have the all time record, I'll take kicking their ass for the majority of my lifetime.

you brag about beating an Allen ku team?  Wasn't 2 of your 3 shared division titles?  so you won the north outright once and won the conf once.  It's better than what ku has done, no doubt, but to brag about that like your OU or Nebraska?

Just stop j@y. There really is no such thing as shared division titles in the big 12, hence why they have the tie breakers in place so the division champs play each other for the big 12 championship, but if you want to count those we actually have 4 north titles not three. In 1999 we were 11-1 & 7-1 but NU went to the title game because they had the tie breaker and yes winning a conference championship is a big deal because there isn't any way possible to back into it. We have won "only" one of them and played for three total but only 5 of the 12 big 12 football programs have one a conference championship. Put this into perspective as well j@y, when we were winning most of our division title the big 12 was flipflopped. KSU, NU & CU were all national programs and the south was floundering, hence winning the north was a big deal from 1996-2000.

ou's emergence in 2000 brought the south back and then as we all know the south has now dominating the league since. Our conference record in 1996 was 6-2, 97 7-1, 98 8-0, 99 7-1, 00 6-2, 02 6-2 & 03 6-2. Big 12 championship games in 98, 00 & 03.

ku? Has only had a winning record in conference one year 08 7-1. Congrats j@y, you're right we haven't accomplished much in the big 12 :ugh:

Actually you are wrong.  The official B12 books do list co-champs for football, the tie breaker is to see which one gets to play in the B12CG.  Interestingly, only Baylor and OSU have never won or shared a division title, you suck OSU.  Usually the tie breaker is just head to head so there is really no argument, but as the south showed last year, there can be 3 co-division champs. you can't deny that this year for ksu is a lot like 2007 for ku.  It's all about the schedule, luck, and good coaches with good corndinators.  I will however, lol if you fail to make a bowl. :kstatriot:

Division titles don't mean squat anyway. Conference titles and MNC are the only meaningful titles IMO. Winning a bowl nice but really doesn't mean much either. Playing in a conference title game is also meaningful to a degree, I put it a lot higher than playing in any bowl game myself.

I diffently agree with all of that.  I have been waiting 13 years (31 total) and I really hoped it was going to be this year.  I was worried because our D is coached by bowen and I was very vocal about the fact he sucks.  As it turns out it was Reesing that killed us.  I don't blame the kid, our OL is young and it shows.

I think 2011 will be our next good chance, our OL will be JR's/SR's that year, as well as some of the higher rated recruits we got last year will have a year of experience.  We have to have a better DC though.  I say we go big and call him the "HC in waiting".

I'm conflicted about this weekend though, I hate moooooooo but I really don't want to see you guys win either.  We are going to beat unl and therefore you guys can handle a loss tomorrow.  On the other hand, I don't want moo to win either.  JFC, it's a quandary   :pirateskull:
