yeah, pretty sure 30 miles from Des Moines is middle of nowhere for everyone not from Iowa.

downtown des moines is the middle of nowhere for anyone not from ames.

Wait. Wait. You're defending DES MOINES?! That's awesome.

i bet he's from des moines.  seems like a desmoineires would think that some sort of weird shaft of light with a quasi batman shadow makes for a world class city (don't know for sure, never met anyone who admitted to being from des moines).

Can we just start an Iowa State validation thread and pin it at the bottom of the basketball forum?  That way, Haverhill can jerk it to his Gilstrap and downtown Des Moines without bothering the rest of us.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
Manhattan is AA destination beautiful Flint Hills, KS.  in the middle of nowhere kind of like Hawaii or Fiji.
When I was a kid growing up in the projects, I used to dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!

Never been to Des Moines myself.

Hopefully someone can post an awkwardly large photo of the city here so I can decide what to think of it.

Iowa State is pretty much the Texas Tech of the B12 North. Both are located in the middle of bumf*ck and are always looking for somebody, anybody to accept them as a rival    :Carl:

Ames is bumfrack? I don't want to know what you consider Manhattan then. You are a good 100 miles out from KC while we're only 30 from Des Moines. I'm not going to pretend Des Moines is 1/3 of KC, but Ames is within 30 miles of 600,000 people.

Woo Hoo. Ames International Airport, oh soo sooory, I meant Ames Municipal Airport doesn't even have a control tower. GTFOMF.

I'd rather drive 30 minutes to Des Moines and have choices about where to fly to rather than only being able to fly into Dallas/Ft. Worth.
