Nah, that's bullcrap.

Go back and check EVERYTHING I've written about Prince. There have been plenty of positive things, especially early on.

I've been plenty fair.

Scuba, what do you do, anyway? Just curious...

In fact, I don't think he gives two rips either way about KSU.

Bingo.

Are you suggesting that I should have some personal investment, some tie to the university that I'm paid to cover?

Yes, because your sole purpose in life is to cover Kansas State athletics.

That alone means you're already biased.

Too many words in this topic to actually read all of it, but I think what SS is getting at is this.  Why are you asking questions designed to make the coach look foolish and then be up in arms that he just walks away from you?  Personally I don't care or mind if you ask those kinds of questions, but maybe you shouldn't be up in arms over his reaction, or if it turns out RP doesn't want to be your buddy.  I think the Journalistic integrity angle comes in when it comes to whether you are simply reporting the news or if you are trying to make the news.  Either way, at least somebody is taking the K-State beat seriously in the state.

Doesn't it work both ways? Am I only supposed to lob softballs? He has an obligation to answer questions. It's his job. I just thought it was bush league to walk away. Now, you can think it's bush league for me to ask, and that's fine. But if I was trying to become the story, I would have said, "I asked Prince," or "I pulled Prince aside." I didn't do that. It didn't matter who it was asking. What was important, in my estimation, was how he reacted.

Jeff, have you heard Prince's reactions to my goofy questions on his radio show?

the guy isn't very good when faced with tough/strange questions.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Something tells me you're not very bright. Sorry to resort to a putdown, but it's the only conclusion I could come to.

I'm not upset at all. Fascinated, really.

You should be fascinated.  I am too.  You spent all that time in school learning about "journalistic integrity" and how to be an upstanding, proper, and unbiased reporter.  Now that you're in the real world you are finding out that a lot of your customers prefer the unabashed homerism that is personified by the Tim Fitzgerald's of the world.

It's not really any different than yellow journalism.  Which one wins?

I think some lady asked Art Shell how he would feel about coaching a team to an 0-16 season.  I don't think he answered her.  Anyway, I suggest this question "Coach Prince, how do you feel about driving the KSU football team into the ground after everything LSnyder did for this program?"

Jeff, have you heard Prince's reactions to my goofy questions on his radio show?

IMHO he is like every other smooth talking CEO.  Look at what happens when they have to explain why their stock went down to share holders or business mags.  They bullsh1t until the numbers come in, use their catch phrases until someone comes correct (as J-mart did) and then they don't know how to deal.

Anyways......  After 15 years of Snyder why is everyone so concerned about Prince's media personality?  I understand he has tried to cultivate a positive image, but we sure as hell didn't care when Snyder blew off Media Day to hold an extra practice or shunned Keitzman for stretches at a time.  Since when do we care?

As I see it:  J-mart has a right/responsibility to ask,  Prince has a responsibility to answer (but the option to blow J-mart off) and we have the right to ignore all of this and concentrate on football.  If you think it is telling/funny/interesting,  great.  If you don't,  why do you care?

How is that a joke? He can say "no comment" if he likes. He must deal with the media.

This turned into a really boring thread.

It needs more juicy rumors and less "journalistic integrity" debate.

All of the media hates Prince because when he first came in and was talking to everybody and going from town to town the media thought, "What a great change compared to Snyder, this guy is going to tell us everything we want to know!"

Then the season started and they quickly figured out that this wasn't going to be the case.

And Prince hatred was born.

Here's the thing, the question wasn't designed to make RP look foolish. It was designed to get to the bottom of this contradiction that RP has been spewing for weeks, now. As it's already been pointed out several times, the answer was a  simple one, and, despite what many of you think, RP didn't have to throw Dylan under the bus. All he had to say was something along the lines of, "Because of the importance of the quarterback position, our competition theory isn't as prevelant as it is at other positions..." or something along those lines.

It was made even easier when J-Mart waited until after the formal press conference and asked him off to the side. But instead of talking around the pointed questions like he does so often, RP opted to push the question back on J-Mart then walk away. J-Mart wasn't asking to be his buddy, he was asking for a clarification. He didn't get it, nor did he get the same respect from RP that he showed RP by asking the question off to the side.

It's funny, because if Prince would have answered the question, talked himself around the question or said "no comment", none of this would be an issue. Instead, J-Mart reports how RP handled "answered" the questions, and J-Mart is the one getting ridiculed. It makes no sense.

We can't have more juicy rumors until we understand where they come from.

More Journalist integrity = no juicy rumors.

Less Journalistic integrity = a cheerleader is having a head coach's baby.

I can't think of one media member who "hates" Prince.

Right.  And Bill Snyder wrote a letter because he wants KSU fans to support Ron Prince.
